Do you have any advice on how you choose which fic idea to write next? I want whatever the next Gravity Falls fic I write next to be one of the many long fic ideas my brain has thrown at me but I'm having trouble picking

No but seriously, start on whichever one you like fleshing out the most. Flesh it out and then decide if that one IS the one you want to write right this minute, and dont be afraid to bounce around! Writing different things at once is better that forcing yourself i to one thing until you dont want to write at all anymore

Ahh, I went to check my bookmarks. Turns out I have 117 stobotnik fics there, so... too many. Here's a selection though!

Obviously Coffee and Mayhem. If this ship has a classic, it's this one! Unlike most fandom classics, though, this one is not sad as hell, so that's great! I read it in three days and I'm constantly waiting for more.

There's also the For Science! series. This one has a lot of smut, so be warned. Three fics, each one taking place during one of the movies. It is very sweet.

Laws of Motion is perfect. I want twenty more just like this one. Stone is kidnapped and Eggman goes detective mode. Cue rescue.

You've got to be kidding me? not gonna lie, mostly Stone whump. But there's comfort so fear not! Walters puts a shock collar on Stone to force him to spy on Robotnik. Stone's solution is to avoid the Dcotor. Yeah.

There's also What's an emerald but a precious stone? in which Robotnik has to save Stone from the wreckage of the giant robot at the end of the second movie!

(I think I'm seeing a pattern here. Huh. Sorry, Stone)

Comment on fanfics

A few days back on AO3 I found an unfinished, two chapter spideypool fanfic that was cute and had lots of potential and was also last updated two years ago. Two whole years! And it had only three comments, all of which on chapter one, none on chapter two. I enjoyed the fanfic, despite it being far, FAR from being finished and the chance of it ever updating again anytime soon was just about zero. So you know what I did?

I wrote a damn comment. On chapter two.

And I made sure that fucker was long and had a small theory of where I think the author would take the fanfic in the future. I let the person behind the fic know that I friggin LOVED the two chapters I got to read! That I would LOVE to see more! That I’d jump out of my skin in happiness and virtually hug them half to death if I saw that they updated it.

Let me remind you this fic wasn’t updated in two YEARS! I was the first to comment on it in a year. And the first to comment on chapter two! And you know what happened today?

I got a reply.

From the author of the fanfic. And the author said how I gave them life for a project they had loved (still did) and that they were now working on a third chapter. After two YEARS of not updating. Of not writing. And it makes me so friggin happy seeing what I did. What I caused.

With a single. Damn. Comment.

All that it took for me was to think a bit about what I wanted to tell the author and the comment it. All it took was one comment. And suddenly this person was inspired to continue a fanfic they had abandoned for TWO YEARS!!

I couldn’t be happier. I couldn’t be more proud.

Comment on people’s fanfics. No matter how few chapters there are. No matter how many years have passed since their last update. Comment. You like a fanfic? Comment on it. It’s that easy.

Au where ford actually kept track of Stan a little bit more than in canon. I’m talking the man would cast spells and ask the mail box “is my brother alive” or “where is my brother”

But of course because I love myself some angst, Fords questions were worded in such a way that he ONLY knew his brother was alive—but being alive doesn’t equal being okay. He gets his brothers location, but being realistic do you think Ford would think that he’s traveling so much because he’s running away or because he’s successful and LIKES to travel. “Oh look Stanley’s taking a vacation in Colombia. Although that’s a long vacations it’s been months… he must be pretty rich thanks to his products!” (Because remember ford had seen Stan’s commercials, so ford follows his line of logic to be that Stan is pretty successful.)

Of course one day Ford finally asks a slightly different question, one that crumples the narrative he created in his mind, “How is Stanley doing?”

And that’s when he learns that his brother is currently being transported to a hospital. That his brother is on the verge of death due to malnutrition, hypothermia, and because of an infected untreated wound. That his brother hasn’t been okay the last few years.

He learns that he asked all the wrong questions.

Do you ever think about the fact that Stan had a closet full of evidence against himself for committing identity theft against Ford so Ford could be cleared of all charges Stan accrued in his name? Cause I can’t stop. That man has been in court at least three times he’s not unaware.

Oh. Oh I had not thought of this. Ah. Ouch.

He was prepared for any option. Do you think, at least a little, Stan was ready for Ford to kick him out? Fo you think that somewhere in the back of Stans mind he fully believed that despite saving his brother, he was ready to go? That the only reason he knew he was going to stay was to watch the kids?

God. Terrible, terrible thought. I’m in pain.

Do these people know their fanfictions aren't canon, like this is some made up bullshit.

"they think of each other as brothers" no, they don't

"they canonically love their wives" anyone who has read Naruto Gaiden and Boruto knows this isn't true. Loveless marriages where Sasuke goes zero contact with Sakura for years and Naruto sleeps in a separate bedroom from Hinata and would rather send clones than go home himself.

"have kids that they love with them" Naruto doesn't give a fuck about Himawari and Sarada has acknowledged her dad, Sasuke would rather spend time with Boruto than her. Plus Sasuke and Naruto have both talked how Boruto resembles them both, that's the reason why they like him, specifically.
