I KNOW HOW MY FILTHY MUTANT ABILITIES UPSET YOU, SCHMIDT. DONāT WORRYā
āYOU WILL DIE PURE. NO MAGNETISMĀ
JUST FISTS.
So many TV shows/movies depict the Epi Pen as a total solution for anaphylaxis...it's not. The Epi Pen gives you 30 minutes to get to a hospital where they can save your life. TV makes it look like you just have to use the Epi Pen and then the crisis is over. Do people without allergies or a loved one with allergies know that an Epi Pen only buys you time? The more I see this on TV the more I worry...
**Maybe you should reblog this because I'm actually worried that most people don't know.
Good evening, friends, let me tell you some Secrets on how to argue like (and with) assholes. Iām writing this because I keep running into a particular asshole, and I need to stop engaging with them, and so this is an instruction sheet for myself as well as you guys.Ā
First, try to avoid assholes; they donāt deserve your time and energy. But, if an Argument is unavoidable, here are a few tips on how to emerge unscathed.Ā
Let go of the idea that youāre going to win.Ā
Youāre not gonna win. Nobody wins in an argument with an asshole. But, on the other hand, you can make them lose. You can deprive them of their entertainment and their triumph.Ā
How???Ā
Do not present your side of this debate.Ā
This is so counter-intuitive for most of us who believe in things like, oh, science, or real facts, or the idea that real facts can be determined by science. Hereās a cool terrible thing about humans: certainty has nothing to do with facts. And when people are certain, that is when they become assholes.Ā
When someoneās only goal is to win an argument, any real evidence or facts you give them is just ammunition for them to turn against you.Ā
You will not convince them. So what should you be doing?Ā
Destroy their arguments.
This is a thing of joy, because itās what assholes are used to doing. They are, at heart, morons who donāt know how to construct, only how to destroy.Ā
I used to be super emotional about arguments like this. I couldnāt think of anything to say while the other person ranted on about their horrifying bigotry. Now Iām a lawyer, and Iāve learned to weaponize my essentially nitpicky nature. For money.Ā
So here are some easy tactics you can remember and deploy:Ā
- Make them defineĀ the words they use. Nitpick the definitions.Ā
- Turn questions back on them. If they ask youĀ āwhy do you believe xā, ask them why they believe y. If they pull someĀ āI asked firstā shit, ask them why theyāre afraid to defend their beliefs.Ā
- Call them emotional.Ā If possible, pick out specific emotions. This is especially devastating when youāre debating a man, as he will get more emotional as a result.Ā
-Ā āWhy is that funny? I donāt get it.ā Making people explain mean jokes can be a delight; they just wilt the more you question them about the underlying assumptions.Ā
- Laugh at any especially dumb shit. Like they use some slogan or catchphrase thatās obviously untrue, due to science, or essentially ridiculous, likeĀ āweāve made America great again,ā and you just blurt out laughing. If they get mad, tell them ā oh, so sorry, Iāll shut up, Iām giving you the floor to talk about your beliefs. Iām respecting you. This is a goddamn power move. It gives you the high ground, and also the implied control over the situation. The floor belongs to you, but you are yielding itĀ to someone because you can.Ā
- If they make an awkward exit, let them. Especially if they call the discussionĀ āpolitical.ā It means theyāre feeling attacked. Graciously allow them to retreat with their tail between their legs. If they storm off, allow them to do that too. Congratulations; youāve ended the argument and you donāt have to deal with it anymore.Ā
Basically: hand the asshole a shovel, and letĀ āem dig. Relieve yourself of the burden to convince them they are wrong, and just sour their fun instead.Ā
ā
Additionally, these are the tactics that assholes use, consciously or subconsciously, all the time. Recognize them. Once you know what they are, you can become immune to the intimidation and belittling tactics.Ā
Good luck.Ā
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.Ā It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search termsĀ
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.Ā As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
ā
Google is so powerful that it āhidesā other search systems from us. We just donāt know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free
Azdarchids are bitchin!
when I drew this comic 3 years ago I had NO idea how far it would reach. I'm happy to finally share a corrected version with proper abbreviations, and even MORE state names of indigenous origin ā„ļø
however, the goal of this comic was to inspire people to do your OWN research on indigenous history. To question everything we have been taught, and everything that has been pointedly left out. This erasure, this āforgettingā, of history is not just of the past⦠it is happening now. - Across so-called Canada, the US, and US-occupied islands, native women are victims of murder at 10-12x the rate of non-native people, and are the most likely to go missing without being searched for by the law. - Native reservations have the highest rates of poverty in the US, with over HALF of tribal homes with no access to clean water (with more joining this list by the year) - Native people are 6-10x more likely to be unhoused than the rest of the population, and native teens suffer suicide rates higher than any other demographic. This list of modern day genocide goes on (thank you for compiling @theindigenousanarchist <3) and yet take a look at those environmental stats!
Native people manage to do SO much for the planet as a whole - thanklessly - and with all this stacked against them. Don't even get me started on kin fighting in south america. Could you imagine if there was help? #landback is resistance to genocide, and it is the key to saving our warming earth.
So look into it and the other hashtags, cuz a cartoon goose ain't a substitute for a proper education. Love to my grandparents who always kept a map of tribal territories of turtle island on their wall, to speaking on our Tsalagi & Saponi heritage. Love & solidarity forever, happy research, and happy #indigenouspeoplesday

Marvel Studios needs to take a break. What do you mean 15 projects??? Two Avengers films in one yearā¦šš Your staff is overworked and your content is mediocre at best⦠letās take a break and regroup.
So for anyone who doesnāt keep up with nz politics, which iām assuming is most of you, our new radical right government have decided one of their main aims of their term will be to re-interpret the Treaty of Waitangi.
The Treaty is an agreement between Maori and the Crown, now the NZ government. It is the founding document of new zealand and is recognised as a constitutional document today; it is the only treaty of its kind/time still honoured, and it is the steps weāve taken through the Treaty to provide restitution and build an ongoing relationship with Maori and their iwi (tribes) that has allowed the relationship between Maori and the government to thrive where other indigenous groups have struggled to achieve recognition of their rights.
This is going to be entirely undone. Not only is this issue inflammatory and a threat to race relations in Aotearoa, leaked documents show the proposed āreinterpretationā wants to negate pretty much the entirety of the legal rights provided to Maori under the treaty. For example, the treaty article that guarantees land rights for Maori will be reinterpreted to guarantee land rights for āall New Zealandersā. Which means this article would be essentially meaningless for Maori.
By removing Maori from the context they are trying to put Maori on an āequal footingā with all New Zealanders; they are riding the idea that Maori have special rights and privileges above that of the average New Zealander. Obviously this is bullshit but itās effective rhetoric and thereās a grain of truth to in that the extent of Maori rights hadnāt been clearly defined due to the ongoing nature of the process. So this has got a lot of people with a poor grasp of the issues very upset and baying for change.
There is a hui (meeting) being held today for all the iwi to begin discussions of how Maori will respond to this. New Zealand politics isnāt very interesting usually, but our progress on indigenous rights, until now, has been absolutely ahead of the field. If you care about indigenous rights globally, you should care about this, because in the same way Australiaās referendum loss has spurred on this action, the loss of rights here will spur other right wing governments to be similarly bold to their own indigenous groups.
Indigenous rights in New Zealand are under attack. They are meeting today to discuss it, and New Zealand will be listening, but I want the world to be listening. Because our government needs the shame of being called out by more than just the people who theyāve already decided donāt vote for them.
Maori have a long and proud history of fighting for their rights, and theyāll do it again here. And Iāll be on the pickets beside them, but thereāll be plenty of my own pickets to attend, because this government is radical in every sense of the word.
So please, even if youāre very far away, stand behind them in this. Keep your eyes on us. Amplify their voices. Donāt let the racism drown them out.
