In 2020 my husband and I got really into the 1984 Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett. In The Musgrave Ritual, the fourth episode of the second season, Holmes spends a lot of time swanning around being cranky wrapped in a crochet blanket. I had: lots of online classes and zoom calls, lots of pent up anxiety and energy, a wrist injury that flared up during everything except crocheting for some reason, and a Holmes-loving husband who was just as obsessed with this iconic blanket as I was. So I made this!

If you'd like to make one too, read on. I wrote the pattern two different ways; both are in the reblogs. There's a quick and dirty version where I assume you know the basics of crochet and throw some details at you and it's pattern chaos. And there's a nice, neat, detailed pattern with more specific instructions. Caveat for both: I'm a long-time "figure-it-outer" when it comes to fiber craft and I've made up tons of projects but I am new to writing a pattern for someone else to interpret. I can feel this guy becoming more relatable by the second, not even the more I watch the movies and just the more I think about him🧍

So there's a theory that Spock is a descendent of Sherlock Jolmes/ Arthur Conan Doyle, so maybe like a doodle of spock in Sherlocks classic outfit or vice versa? P.s I love your art!

I am getting wayyy too overexcited about them being at Madame Tussaud's and John mentioning how close it is to their flat BECAUSE I WENT THERE RIGHT AFTER HAVING VISITED THE SHERLOCK HOLMES MUSEUM IN BAKER STREET LAST FALL :D The Sherlock Holmes statue is actually RIGHT down the street from Madame Tussaud's btw like you can actually see it from there iirc🤔 so that's a fun detail that they of course can't see haha

The Enola Holmes wax figure also probably isn't there lol, I do wonder if Benedict Cumberbatch is still there since Sherlock was the role that first actually got him recognition? Iirc? That's what someone told me once so I wouldn't put my hand into the fire for it but y'know, he has had some great other roles since then though so it's very very possible he's still there 🦫 Ahhh they'd be able to see the Ncuti Gatwa wax figure there that's so awesome👀

The funniest part about this for me is how John is like "idk why we didn't go here earlier, it's so closeby" and the only reason we went there was because it was right on the way when we visited the statue after having seen Bakerstreet like yeah it is pretty closeby and the only reason I've been to Madame Tussaud's in the first place lmao😭

Mycroft has this worry about a person who won’t let him help them, no matter what methods he tries to accommodate them with as best as he can, while he had still been the only person who looked out for them for a long time and tried to keep them safe from their own stubbornness and their tendency for self-destructive behavior, he’s got his long nose, his nostalgia through movies, everything, there’s probably more that hasn’t come to mind yet or that I’m not putting into words properly rn, but that about sums up what I find so intriguing about him

and then we have Sherlock, who’s one smart guy👍

(obviously extremely oversimplified and I’ve got so many more thoughts on him too, but you could technically break it down to that)
