You know, for all that the elves are beautifully described by Tolkien to have a deep cultural connection to the stars, the only character in Middle Earth that I would really label an astronomer is a mortal man: Tar-Meneldur, the fifth king of Numenor.
Tar-Meneldur was actually born “Irimon”,...
I was entertaining myself with Google Earth (as you do) and "found" this giant submarine channel southwest of Ireland.
This is the Gollum Channel System in the Porcupine Seabight basin.
The name catched my attention, of course, so I opened the first article about this huge underwater canyon (this one) and look what I found:
They're all there!!! Someone had fun with the the naming of these smaller canyons! This is the best thing in a long time...
“There Grímhild dwelt,
guileful in counsel,
grimhearted queen
grey with wisdom,
with lore of leechcraft,
lore of poison,
with chill enchantment
and with changing spells.”
– J.R.R. Tolkien: Völsungakviða en nýja
Not gonna lie, Grímhild sounds cool.
I really hate when someone offers for me five hundred camels and tells me I have beautiful eyes, but he just wants to sell me a tea.
My heart is broken... These princes were so unique.
Scarlet Heart: Ryeo → Princes
If you wanna do all of these things, they're your friend.
if you wanna hug them, they’re a hufflepuff
if you wanna talk to them all night, they’re a ravenclaw
if you want them to be at your party, they’re a gryffindor
if you want to punch them, they’re a slytherin
Tolkien, Czech Republic, mythology, anything I like
