Swan watching over its last egg. I went down to Bayfront Park/Pier 4 to check on the status of the 3 nesting swan pairs in that area. I knew one pair had already abandoned it's nest. I saw that a 2nd pair at the north end of Bayfront had left their nest with 1 egg remaining (out of 6 or 7 originally). This swan was the last hold out at pier 4 near the Leander boat club. It only had 1 egg remaining out of 5. That egg is also likely not going to hatch. All of the swan eggs should have hatched about 3 weeks ago. Too much rain and cold weather early probably caused the eggs to fail. Sad but it happens. Fortunately other pairs around the harbour have been more successful. #hamont #discoverhamilton #bayfrontpark #pier4 #swans #photography (at Pier 4 - Bayfront)
A work in progress. 2-3 hrs a week for several weeks. Great way to focus my attention. Image is rotated 90 degrees - bottom is on the left. A northern auroral scene. Still have to finish details on the auroras then add foreground features. "Miles to go before I rest". Inspired by the work of the talented NWT artist Robbie Craig. Done at Sitelines. #arttherapy #centre3 #sitelinesopenstudio #aurora (at Artforms)
Finally decided I'm finished an art piece I had been working on a few hours a week for about 8 or 9 months. #sitelines #artforms #centre3 #hamont #arttherapy #winterart I got to the point where every time I tried to fix a line, I'd mess up another. I realized I can't improve on it with my limited skills. Lol I wise person told me (@titaniumchild ) that "art is done when you feel it is finished, not when it's perfect. If you wait for perfect, it will never be completed." But it was a learning experience. I have progressed a fair bit from when I started. And it was a good mindful activity to keep me focused for a few hours each week. (at Artforms) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnAF99_nqfX/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=7n4k5thda39e
Christ's Church Cathedral on James St N. Beautiful architecture and intricate detail. #hamont #jamesstnorth #discoverhamilton
Taking my temporary roommate out for a walk on a nice Sun afternoon in her stylish harness and leash. She's still not used to the outdoors since she's only been outside about a half dozen times. But she immediately took to tree climbing her first time. She met her first dog (little lap dog) today and it was a peaceful and drama-free encounter. Sadly i only have her for 2 more weeks before she goes home. Despite scratches on me and furniture, I'm going to miss her. #kitten #kittenwalk #treeclimbing (at Hamilton Moutain,)
The CP Holiday Train arrived in Hamilton tonight near Gage Park. As usual, huge crowds showed up to listen to the music (Sam Roberts) and see the festive train. This is the first time that events and conditions (and memory) all worked together for me to actually see the train. Went with a good friend who had difficulty seeing over the crowd even though she's reasonably tall. Cold and windy. A hot coffee afterwards was a very welcome way to warm up. After, I tracked the train to the yards in west Hamilton where it stayed for the night before continuing on to Cambridge tomorrow. I found the Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail was an ideal location to get close to the train for better shots. #cpholidaytrain #gagepark #hamiltonfoodshare #hamont #cpr #holidayseason #timhortons #klitefm (at Hamilton Gage Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqwM4bUhK3X/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1qo2zy5abkbvj
An animation GIF file I made recently at the Sitelines Photoshop Animation program. Thanks to grants from the Ontario Trilluim @ontrillium Foundation, @centre3_ has been to put together various programs to help those who currently have or have had issues with mental health - often for free. I'm grateful for these #arttherapy programs. Interesting and fun. I took a photograph of a waterfall setting and used PS to change its look for the background. Then took another photo of a leaping dolphin, deleted its background then created a series of layers with the dolphin appearing at various stages of an imagined leap. Then used PS animate layers to create the animation. Rather cool to be able to do this. #sitelines #centre3 #Photoshop #photoshopanimation #Animation #waterfalls #dolphin #ontrillium (at Artforms)
Well that's a kicker to ruin a quiet night. Fire alarm went off. Looks like we rated a 2 alarm. Appears to have been someone fooling around and pulled an alarm at 10:30pm tonight. Most of the building evacuated. A few stayed inside - not particularly smart. Most took their pets out. I tried to get mine but she got in such a panic from the noise, I wasn't able to reach her. Glad it ended up being a false alarm. (at Hamilton, Ontario)
A fun painting workshop this afternoon with my good friend (and talented artist) Amanda @amethystjeantiu. It was held at The Hearty Hooligan and put on by @anomalousunderground and their curator Megan Rae. Thanks Megan. #hamont #artworkshop #galaxypainting #nebulapainting #theheartyhooligan (at The Hearty Hooligan)
Hmm. Got up late this morning and found out No Hot Water in the apartment. I saw a plumbing truck outside so figured it would be fixed shortly. Hours later still not avail. Called super and she had posted a notice downstairs this morning that the tank had a crack - not particularly helpful. No Hot Water today or tomorrow. So I guess it's sponge baths in the kitchen sink ( washing the sink before and after). So I may not be as April (or June) fresh as I normally would be. Lol. #nohotwater #apartmentliving #coldshave #spongebath (at Hamilton Mountain)
