I like the word “witchery” because of its linguistic similarity to “fuckery.” Witchcraft is fuckery; fuckery is witchcraft. They are inextricably connected in my mind and it makes me happy.

Witch tip::

Eat a tarot card to gain its powers

Oh my god, guys.

Are we just going to ignore the fact that bay trees and laurel trees—the laurel trees, used for Roman victory wreaths—are the same?? Why is witchblr sitting on this??

And why are bay leaved associated with prosperity? It makes sense, but they should symbolise victory and glory! Success! Fame, winning, being lauded and recognised! Prosperity comes along with this but it's not central.

I only found this out yesterday, I'm shocked.

EDIT: In North America (and probably other places) there is Mountain Laurel, it's a shrub that grows by roads in northern states. It's poisonous. Don't burn or eat it!

The Bay Laurel is the tree used by Greeks and Romans. It's safe and used in cooking.

Thank you so much to @.teawitch for adding this!!! I literally copied their addition into the post, sorry.

A big misconception I see come up a lot is that tarot can predict the future. In a sense, it might, but it's a lot more nuanced than that.

There is no 'THE future'. There are lots of different futures and lots of different paths you could be led down, but not all fates come to fruition based on the choices we make.

Tarot should be used to gain insight and reflect on your current and alternative paths. You can't necessarily predict how something is going to go, but you can use them to look within yourself and see what might need to change to get on the path you want to be on.

This is one of the earliest things I learnt when beginning tarot, and learning this can open you up to different paths and possibilities, as well as allowing you to ask the right questions to get where you want to be.

eight years into my spirituality and I finally know what they mean when people talk about raising energy.

To raise energy you must get completely out of your mind. You must get into your body, into the present moment, forget time exists. It's about getting to a place and a mindset where you're simply just doing, being, not thinking.

And it cannot be forced. For years I've tried sitting, meditating, willing energy into objects or worse, into the world in general, and found it doesn't work.

Whether you get there by dancing in the shower, by meditating, by allowing yourself to feel an emotion viscerally, it doesn't matter. It just matters that you're not thinking.

And you can literally feel it. To me it feels like a blood rush to the head, my arms will usually raise above my head on instinct, and my face smiles. It feels like a shot of b12. It tingles.

Then the energy just moves with nothing more than a thought, an impulse, a desire. It just becomes. It just is.

The Woman Behind The World’s Most Famous Tarot Deck Was Nearly Lost In History

The Woman Behind The World’s Most Famous Tarot Deck Was Nearly Lost In History

For centuries, people of all walks of life have turned to tarot to divine what may lay ahead and reach a higher level of self-understanding.

The cards’ enigmatic symbols have become culturally ingrained in music, art and film, but the woman who inked and painted the illustrations of the most widely used set of cards today – the Rider-Waite deck from 1909, originally published by Rider & Co. – fell into obscurity, overshadowed by the man who commissioned her, Arthur Edward Waite.

The Woman Behind The World’s Most Famous Tarot Deck Was Nearly Lost In History

Now, over 70 years after her death, the creator Pamela Colman Smith has been included in a new exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York highlighting many underappreciated artists of early 20th-century American modernism in addition to famous names like Georgia O’Keeffe and Louise Nevelson.
