Cosmic anglerfish swimming through the vastness of the deep universe. Females are large and have a bioluminescent glow, sharp teeth and huge jaws. Males are small and very muscular. They have a lot of darkness to swim through to find their Female.
āThere are no female aliens in our game because we donāt know how to make a female version of this alienā You know that alien you just designed? That male alien? Give it a female voice actor and have characters refer to it as she. Thatās it. Thatās literally all you have to doĀ

I ain't a bald primate
That tongue does not relate
Man is done
The ape is dead
Lungs of the planet on a golden thread
I ain't debating
I'm a mushroom, ok
I spread like lava
Rise like bread
Currency of decay
Amongst my kin, I extend acidic salutations
Exhale the dust of seasons
Inhale the breath of civilisations
I grip with devil's fingers and stroke the green curtain
We, the thoughtful element
Dumb rock
Unthinking ocеan
Network of the wood
Tannin of the еvening
Synapse of the bush
I disappear amongst my kin

i think in the end furries will always win. in whatever time it takes i think people are going to realize anthropomorphism is so deeply ingrained in us as creatures that to even invent a hatred of the concept to begin with is like hating the concept of telling stories or singing or dancing
Most beautiful quote of all ASOIAF
āand for the first time in hundreds of years, the night came alive with the music of dragons.
I see a human in the picture, but this post has such a delightful Hobbit energy. ššš
baps you on the head, lovingly. What are your top three favourite berries
(/bap'd)
I'm so glad you asked bc I do love a good berry. My favorite berry is any berry growing on a bush for me to eat! I go berry picking a lot, mostly to make jam, but I always keep some just to eat, and also I probably eat as many as I pick while I'm picking. Which slows down the process but I'm just a man.
No. 1 is salmonberries. I love the color & flavor variety! (the little blue berries are huckleberries). You can do so much with them, but they're delicious on their own, right off the bush.
For people with TikTok or Instagram, one of my dear mutuals, Madison Dawn (@ Alaskan8ive907 on both apps), is a Tlingit creator who makes a lot of very cool content about salmonberries and other foraging & fishing on Southeast Alaska's islands. Highly recommend!
One of my ALL TIME favorites is cloudberries (not pictured)! This can get confusing at times, because some people use "salmonberry" to refer to what I know as "cloudberries." It's a regional thing. I often follow the lead of my Indigenous friends and use the berry names in their languages to be more specific, but that doesn't always work either, depending on the language & place. There are so many names for beloved berries!!! I love them so much, I have 2 pairs of earrings by one of my fav artists, SiqiƱiq Designs. This is my favorite pair! These are one of her many beautiful "aqpik" designs, the berry's name in more than one Inuit language:
I'm also a big fan of picking blueberries and blackberries!
Although admittedly I think blackberries are the most fun because you get so messy
I also love salal berries, mulberries, and black raspberries (not the same as blackberries)
Apparently boomer Democrats are having meltdowns over a gen-z progressive who is primarying an 80 year old Democrat because she "went on trans podcasts" and wore a Charizard kigurumi
i am so serious when i say dark and quiet are both human rights.
i don't mean like absolute silence. obviously in an ideal community, there would still be sound and noise from people and music and work etc. but it haunts me that when i camp in the forest i can hear the howl of semi trucks on the interstate miles away. and the people who live beside it never know quiet. it haunts me that many people will live their whole lives never seeing the stars in the sky that were fully visible with NO electric light pollution as recently as my great-grandparents' childhoods.
so much of our lives is bright bright unnecessary noise. neon mcdonalds signs 200 feet in the air so we can see it from the road. led lights over billboards. parking lots lit up like sports stadiums at closed office buildings. advertisements playing at gasoline pumps. streets lined with led porch lights and decorative garden lights that genuinely threaten entire species of wildlife. music blaring outside pharmacies to deter homeless people. everything always shining and wailing for no purpose but profit and cruelty.
obviously not everything can be turned off or made quiet and i wouldn't want it to be anyway and there is a lot of nuance and room for "but what about" here, but MANY things HAVE to change because none of us are supposed to live like this and we shouldn't have to!!!
2. Be a silly billy
PSA:
1. If you are not silly, it is vital you become silly
2. If you are silly, you must stay silly
2. If you used to be silly but have stopped, you must make all efforts to return to silliness
Reject reading social cues!! Embrace collecting personal intel via the mycorrhizal network that connect us all.
"We follow the comet," Dany told her khalasar. Once it was said, no word was raised against it. They had been Drogo's people, but they were hers now. The Unburnt, they called her, and Mother of Dragons. Her word was their law.

Use your libraries, folks. Show your librarians some love too š ask them for book recommendations, and give thanks for the work they do. Libraries are some of the most efficient and least wasteful places. We get to borrow books we want to read and give them back then let other people borrow them. šā»ļøš
The Trump administration has issued an executive order aimed at dismantling the Institute of Museum and Library Services - the ONLY federal agency for America's libraries.
Using just 0.003% of the federal budget, the IMLS funds services at libraries across the country; services like Braille and talking books for the visually impaired, high-speed internet access, and early literacy programs.
Libraries are known for doing more with less, but even we can't work with nothing.
Use the app of your choice or look 'em up here: https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member
Pro tip: If your phone anxiety is high, call at night and leave a voicemail. You can even write yourself a script in advance and read it off. Heck, read them this post if you want to.
Phones a total no-go? The American Library Association has a form for you: https://oneclickpolitics.global.ssl.fastly.net/messages/edit?promo_id=23577
Tell strangers, for that matter. People in line at the check out, your elderly neighbor, the mail carrier - no one is safe from your library advocacy. Libraries are for everyone and we need all the help we can get.
The ALA says it best in their official statement and lists some ways libraries across the country use IMLS funding:
But if you want a really specific answer, here at LCPL we use IMLS funding to provide our amazing interlibrary loan service. If we can't purchase an item you request (out of print books, for example) this service lets us borrow it from another library and check it out to you.
IMLS also funds the statewide Indiana Digital Library and Evergreen Indiana, which gives patrons of smaller Indiana libraries access to collections just as large and varied as the big libraries' collections.
Origami books/diagrams are wild, if they do have written instructions they include lots of beautiful and baffling phrases like āmountain foldā āvalley foldā ācrane baseā, etc. What is this code?!
As a 90ā²s kid, it blows my mindĀ that origami youtube videos exist. You can look up any model and watch a pair of manicured hands assemble the thing in real time, in full color, in 3D, with cheerful flute music in the background. When I was little, you had a library book with no words and these esoteric little dotted lines and arrows and it was just you, your hands, your paper, and the cruel, uncaring eyes of God.
I love them

This should be a scene in some upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.
so last night, for the first time, a bunch of drunk undergrads found that we had the Canadian national anthem in the karaoke list and the whole gotdamned bar decided to stand and sing for it.Ā
this in itself was funny enough, but i had been bussing a table of british international kids and now Iām struck with the thought that they now might assume ALL CANADIAN KARAOKE IS JUST. LIKE THIS
Keep talking about this until it changes.
Also, I am just going to say it:
If your CEO is so inconsequential to the success of your company that he can be gunned down in the street like a dog and it has absolutely no impact on your company whatsoever, maybe he doesn't actually need to be paid several hundred times as much as your median employee.
Maybe you could get away with, like, ten to fifteen times and spend the extra tens of millions of dollars you save on something else.
Just thinking out loud.
