THOSE R THE KINDA QUESTIONS IM ALWAYS ASKING MAN like? when did space probes start becoming sentient? why did they become sentient?? what’s the rest of the world like in 17776??

uhh and other species did stop dying too like,, here in chapter 11

THOSE R THE KINDA QUESTIONS IM ALWAYS ASKING MAN Like? When Did Space Probes Start Becoming Sentient?

the dog here is like at least 2000 yrs old!! thats great cuz if pets kept dying then i think humanity would be pretty different

it makes sense tat other species also stopped dying,, it would be rlly odd if we were the only ones that stopped aging cuz humans aren’t actually as special as we say we are. we’re all animals in the end yk., so if that was the case why is it that specifically us that became immortal??

Uhh uhh and to OP!! i think u should absolutely write about that perspective!! its such an interesting idea i need to read it 🙏 “what weather forecasts will look like in the future…” ehheheeehe

where do they mention weather and climate change getting even worse than it already is tho?? ik it got to a point where new york is just gone and florida is barely there but i forgot the cause or if they even explained it at all 💔 but it is kinda scary tho ,,where you and everything around u stops changing, but at the same time. everything IS changing

we knowbarely anythin about the world in 17776 other than football… and so many questions left unanswered from nine’s list

man i hope 50007 gives us more of those answers

so so deeply tempted to write something about 17776 from the perspective of a meteorologist . having to watch the climate get worse and worse . witnessing storm surges get so bad they leave very, very little left to survive (well, people don’t die. but i forgot if plants & animals do. in that case, they die and it’s sad. and we’re still living through it). and it happens again. again. again. and you’re still collecting data, still watching the seasons go by, still working and still making reports. it feels like every day reaches a new “hottest day recorded” or “worst tornado in united states history”, no?

Bluesky post by Carl Engle-Laird that reads:
Huddle up, folks. I'm going to publish Jon Bois's debut novel, 50007: An American Football Odyssey.
Attached is a screenshot of a deal announcement on Publishers Marketplace. The announcement reads:

basically everyone is going crazy over this. im basically going crazy over this

dude but like,, do you think we’ll skip 20021 entirely and miss whatever happens to nick and manny?? or will we start from 20021?? and what’s the format gonna be like?! is he still gonna publish it on secret base/sb nation?!?!

IM SO EXCITED. IM SO EXCITED

i can probably imagine nine oversleeping and waking up wondering if they’ve been hibernating for 1 year or 30,000

It's clear that the sport of football needs to change. And the $64,000 question, my friends, is simple:

"how?" Something is terribly wrong. The writing's on the wall: youth participation in the sport is down, thanks in large part to their parents' concern for their health.

In recent years, the NFL has something is terribly wrong. In response to numerous clinical studies regarding something is terribly wrong, the league has taken action - and something is terribly wrong.

Oh no. Something is terribly wrong.

Do you hear that? Do not be afraid, but something is terribly wrong. I'm afraid that this page is going to disintegrate. Don't worry, nothing will be hurt, although you may be extraordinarily confused. I think I see a calendar. I don't know. Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong.

Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Please, read 17776 written by Jon Bois. I don't like football, and yet this was one of the most profound experiences of my life. I promise you, it's so much more than just football.

got obsessed with the space telescopes for a lil while hehehe. revamped my designs for jwst and hst and tried my hand at designing some of the other "great observatories" as well! i like to think hubble, spitzer, and chandra are all siblings (and james is just kinda crashing the party here).

some extra thoughts under the readmore

so theres four great observatories, but the fourth, compton, was purposefully de-orbited and burnt up in the atmosphere. haven't designed her yet, but her death haunts the other space telescopes a lot hehe.

hubble was the first of the siblings to be launched, with compton launching shortly afterwards. they were pretty close before her eventual demise. unfortunately her death and chandra's launch sort of overlapped, so hubble and chandra's initial relationship was heavily strained by the grief hubble was feeling.

theyre doing alright nowadays, but its still kind of a sore subject. this is especially true because hubble fears he may share the same fate in a couple years. with the lack of funding and his failing systems, it's very likely he may be de-orbited as well.

Hubble Space Telescope: Exploring the Cosmos and Making Life Better on Earth

In the 35 years since its launch aboard space shuttle Discovery, the Hubble Space Telescope has provided stunning views of galaxies millions of light years away. But the leaps in technology needed for its look into space has also provided benefits on the ground. Here are some of the technologies developed for Hubble that have improved life on Earth.

Image Sensors Find Cancer

Charge-coupled device (CCD) sensors have been used in digital photography for decades, but Hubble’s Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph required a far more sensitive CCD. This development resulted in improved image sensors for mammogram machines, helping doctors find and treat breast cancer.

Laser Vision Gives Insights

In preparation for a repair mission to fix Hubble’s misshapen mirror, Goddard Space Flight Center required a way to accurately measure replacement parts. This resulted in a tool to detect mirror defects, which has since been used to develop a commercial 3D imaging system and a package detection device now used by all major shipping companies.

Optimized Hospital Scheduling

A computer scientist who helped design software for scheduling Hubble’s observations adapted it to assist with scheduling medical procedures. This software helps hospitals optimize constantly changing schedules for medical imaging and keep the high pace of emergency rooms going.

Optical Filters Match Wavelengths and Paint Swatches

For Hubble’s main cameras to capture high-quality images of stars and galaxies, each of its filters had to block all but a specific range of wavelengths of light. The filters needed to capture the best data possible but also fit on one optical element. A company contracted to construct these filters used its experience on this project to create filters used in paint-matching devices for hardware stores, with multiple wavelengths evaluated by a single lens.

hi Guys?! so like what if the james webb space telescope was in 17776 ? what would their relationship be with the hubble space telescope in that universe

im thinking like. maybe the trope where like. they talk shit to each other but around other people they’re like “yeah hubble/webb is pretty goated” and “are you really trying to insult my bro. only i can do that” ,,,, like siblings idk..

or maybe they’re like best friends or sm, whenever one takes an image the other is like “HOLY SHIT this is so cool!!”

or maybe it would be more like a one sided thing (then hubble is the guy who doesn’t rlly gaf)

webb could be the self absorbed guy nobody likes that always talks about taking superior images, while hubble js tries to watch the damn football game

or, webb looking up to hubble, like, a lot, despite getting more praise and stuff. hubble is past the um. attention and glory, sees webb as equal/better

IDK!! I CAN’T DECIDE ANYTHING FOR MYSELF!!

Hi Guys?! So Like What If The James Webb Space Telescope Was In 17776 ? What Would Their Relationship

i reads about the hubble space telescope yesterday with friend and i think that hubble is so cool man,,, like

imagine being called a great observatory?? thats like the coolest title ever guys

imagine being the favorite child out of the 4 great observatories!!!

imagine having the whole scientific community fight for your funding (they kinda ragebaited us but id say it shows how much we’d do for hubble)

imagine having 5!! STS missions dedicated to taking care of you (ik thats what it was built for but still!!)

imagine originally having a lifespan of 15 years but living much longer cuz of how much you mean to everyone (HUBBLE DAY IN 4 DAYS FYI!!)

imagine being so cool you appear in a “football article”

and of course hubble giving us the coolest space images ever in return!! hubble is awesome. everyone say “thank you hubble”
