No cuz let’s talk about it. When it comes to the book community, y’all are some of thee most anti-intellectual people I have ever seen. We say address problematic writers and the themes they put in their books and y’all say “It’s just a book! Let people read what they want!” Y’all get on the internet complaining about long paragraphs and saying y’all skip paragraphs and dialogue as if that makes any sense. Y’all can barely grab ahold of the themes of racism, grief, generational trauma, or the experience of being Black at a white institution in LegendBorn because you’d rather focus on the 5% of romance as if romance can’t also be political. Yet somehow you refuse to read books by Black and Brown authors cuz they’re “too political.” It can be right there in your face and you’d still use the excuse that reading is your escape so you don’t have to pay attention to those things when those things literally drive the book along with the characters. Percy Jackson is about a boy trying to dismantle the system of the gods cuz they got a bit too much dip on they chip and it literally almost always leads to their own children dying. Not to mention they suck as parents too. I’ve yet to read The Poppy War but it’s based off of an actual war. It’s historical freaking fiction. Rin literally sees a chance to have control over her body and takes it. Don’t think I don’t remember y’all being mad about that either. Y’all love The Song of Achilles as if it’s also not about war, touches on the romantic relationship between Patroclus and Achilles after historians have tried so hard to deny that they were in fact lovers, and let’s not forget the misogyny littered throughout the text that’s either there purposefully or the fault of the authors own biases. Like y’all are dumb and you don’t care.

Double update. We've been officially together for a few weeks, and he's the greatest ever.

The semester just started and straight out the gate, my professors are insane. But I finally graduated so I am excited for that but I don't imagine ill get a lot of writing or reviews done in the meantime. While insane one of my professors is really cool so ill look forward to that class and I also joined a creative writing club. There's a fine shyt in there yall I GOT MOTIVATION NOW.

Halfway Through the Hawthorn Legacy Spoilers!!!

Okay sooo I really should have chewed through this book in a day but work is taking up a lot of my time. But my thoughts so far is I'm liking this book far better than the first one. FINALLY getting to see at least a little bit of how Libby feels about everything and not just having her as a side character is so refreshing. And the turns? Did I Guess that Toby was probably Avery's dad yeah, but I did NAWT guess that he be adopted and dun adopted from the Laughlins at alllll that part was so interesting and it made it sooo clear as to why Mr. and Mrs. Laughlin reacted the way they did when they found out Avery and the boys went into Toby's old wing. This harem with Jameson and Grayson is getting out of control in my opinion, from the jump they made is sooooo obvious which brother she was gonna end up with so why put Grayson through the turmoil for, what in my opinion, is a cheap attempt at creating some sort of romantic discord. I think the whole "I like you but I shouldn't bc ur kinda bad news," type thing with Jameson was enough and I feel like if they focused a little more on that then adding gray in this would eat. Anyways I should be posting my final review in maybe two-ish days or even tonight byeeee

Hawthorn Legacy Finished!! Spoilers!!

So I finished the book before my shift right and GUYSSSSSSS. The amount of info they give you in the last few chapters is insane! Zarah being in love with Nash's dad and Sky swooping him. Zarah's affair with OREN OF ALL PEOPLE. Ricky actually being Avery's father but Toby is her adoptive dad. Tobey has another daughter, AVERY GETTING BLOWN UP AND KIDNAPPED IN LESS THAN A WEEK. Lord it's a wonder why anyone in this story is sane because I personallyyyyyyyyyyy id turn into an alcoholic really quick. I feel like with every new ounce of information is brought up the kids really never get to sit and digest it. Grayson met his dad and within the same month he was dead, even if he hated his son and Gray didn't know him it still must have done a number on him mentally. And with Nash to find out your father was sent away for years bc ur mom and your aunt couldn't settle their beef was wild, I would be unfathomably pissed at the situation. And AVERY the rollercoaster of her thinking Tobey is her bio dad and then finding out Rickey is her bio dad, along with realizing she never knew her mom's real identity and finding out Tobey accidentally killed her aunt and that's how he and her mom met. Finding out they were in love finding out she has a grandmother likeeeeeee. I don't know how shes even functioning y'all. But that's all for this book!!! I'll update soon with my next read

If We Were Villains and The Secret History are siblings. One is the pretentious, intellectual older sibling and the other is the earnest, romantic younger sibling. One makes tongue-in-cheek jokes at the expense of the other and one rolls their eyes at the drama of it all, but they share the same nose and have the same taste in red wine because they're in the same FAMILY.

Cassian meant it when he said everyone fucking hates her. That didn’t just pop into his head in the heat of the moment. When he said he felt shackled to her. When he took her on a hike until she passed out. Every single time he used her for sex. Every single time he defended Rhys when nesta needed his support. Every single time he waxed poetic about the good qualities he sees in Mor and Feyre and bemoaned the terrible qualities he sees in nesta. Every single day nesta was locked in that house, he hated her. Laughed at her struggling. Starved her of every good thing she’d ever said she wanted. He hated her through it all.

This was a book written by a woman, against women. The dichotomy between good and bad is irrelevant— sjm only cares about the difference between women who obey men and women who need to be punished for disobedience. She promotes themes of SA, violence against women, and general brutality that uses women’s trauma as plot devices (primarily to promote male ‘heroism’).

Violet & Zaden: If I thought they annoyed me before OHH BROTHERR. The lack of communication between these two is astounding. "Why didn't you tell me." "You didn't ask" "I DID ask." "Well, you didn't ask the right questions." ..................dpmo. I love them but they're so annoying I'm sorry and then when Violent found out ole girl has the same fighting style bc Zaden trained her too!!?? Violet wasn't mad enough for me. Then after he heard that girl tell Violet that Zaden only wanted her for sex what does he do? Try to have sex with Violet. IDk Violet is a much better woman than me I would have killed him. I do love that Violet clocked him and was like "You're acting like Dain." CLOCK HIM AGAIN. The Zaden being vennin at the end ugh what is even going awnnnnnn. In my opinion Violet should have been a lot meaner and Zaden.....for god's sake, I'm tired of the angsty man act can't lie. (Kudos to Violet for withstanding torture and knowing not to drink that shit the second time around THATS MY GIRL)

Rhiannon: Opinion hasn't changed. Queen.

Dain: This is not a complete redemption bc I still don't like the fact that he's still "Are you SURE you want him Violet." But I enjoy that he grew a brain and sided with the right folks. Like busting her out of there? I won't call him king but he at least gets Squire status.

Aaric Graycastle: "Keep ur fucking boyfriend away from me." Oh yeah, I fuck with him. Is someone not a suck-up to Zaden and not afraid to actually try to go at him? I sense a new fav.

Andarna: Princess Andarna wants blood and blood she will get, I kinda expected her to be different in some way so her scales changing was not a huge surprise but it was nice. Also despite the rules the dragons have in place she absolutely bodied that other dragon for Violet and ugh I love Andarna so much yall don't understand.

Tairn & Sgayel: I'm putting these two together bc man that scene where Tairn finds out that not only Zaden kept something from Violet but more importantly Sgayel kept something from Tairn!!!???? Gods I love these two as mates but that scene hurts my feelings. Also Dad!Tairn constantly being like "Andarna no." is my new fav thing.

Momma Sorrengail: Yanno.......I dont think I dislike her as much as I did, especially because she ended up helping but like...idk. I think id be like Brennan and just be like "Eh fuck you kinda?" like idk how to truly feel about her after iron flame. Its a complicated I don't like her but thanks we couldn't have done it without her? Pulled through for her kids ig so go momma Sorrengail.

Jack Barlowe: WHAT.THE.FUCK what. WHAT. First off, how are you alive, second why are you alive, third SAVED VIOLET?, fourth VENIN? fith KILLING BAIDE?! Someone kill him for good ZADEN DO UR THING like double tap make sure he STAYS down.

Brennan: no overwhelming feelings tbh. I understand his attitude towards Lilith tho def deserved it.

Catronia: I dont like her, Violet should have beat her ass WORSE. And like yeah mind powers are invasive but amplifying someone's EMOTIONS?! Yeah she sucks. And being mad at Violet bc of a fuck ass crown girl get REAL. Showing up in a see-through gown at Zaden's door? You dirty skank bitch she better be next on the off list especially her sparring match with Violet. IDGAF if she helped later fuck Cat.
