I feel like my characters cry too much. What are some ways to show their sadness and pain that doesn't involve crying so I can have some variety in their reactions?

Alternatives to Showing Sadness with Tears

- becoming really quiet/not wanting to speak much- staring at the ground, out the window, or vacant staring- slumped, defeated posture- closed posture (arms crossed or hugging self, standing apart from others)- frowning- resting head/chin on hand or burying head in folded arms on table- not laughing or smiling, or giving only half-hearted laughs or smiles- sagging posture/lack of motivation- sighing a lot- rubbing neck/chest - avoiding people or a certain situation- leaving the room or preferring isolation- sitting outside alone- seeming absent-minded when doing things- not finding comfort in things that usually bring joy

This is by no means a comprehensive guide. The game can be as simple or complex as you want, but there ARE some pre-established basics you should know about - and those are best discovered on your own terms!

This story is so beautiful and I’ve felt every emotion reading it. It’s an AU, where Tony gets dusted instead of Peter, and Pepper takes Peter in, since May is gone too. Probably one of the best villain Tony story I’ve ever read. Characters are complex and real, and Tony and Peter’s dynamic is super interesting.

May and Tony coparent Peter when he’s caught breaking curfew and it’s his worse nightmare. He’s hilariously confused and terrified.

Fluff, fluffy fluff and Peter is terrified of needles and Tony has to deal with that. Tagged as Peter is a Disney Princess and that alone is enough reason to read the fic.

MIT Tony babysits kid Peter. This series is everything to me. Guys, it has baby Tony and Rhodey being roommates. It has adorable kid Peter Parker. and in the the latest fic World’s Best Genius-Billionaire-Side it has teenaged Tony taking care of Peter while he has the flu. It’s genius, really. 

Oh god the queen is coming?

One time a guy and I were having an argument and he pulled a knife on me, and because I’m a dumbass idiot my response was to take out MY knife and go “what now, genius?” And what happened next was we just stood there for ten straight minutes not moving because niether of us wanted to put the knife down first and basically that’s our entire international situation regarding nuclear weapons
