coiling (up in a ball, in on themselves, against something, etc)
panting (there’s a slew of adjectives you can put after this, my favorites are shakily, weakly, etc)
keeling over (synonyms are words like collapsing, which is equally as good but overused in media)
trembling/shivering (additional adjectives could be violently, uncontrollably, etc)
sobbing (weeping is a synonym but i’ve never liked that word. also love using sob by itself, as a noun, like “he let out a quiet sob”)
whimpering (love hitting the wips with this word when a character is weak, especially when the pain is subsiding. also love using it for nightmares/attacks and things like that)
clinging (to someone or something, maybe even to themselves or their own clothes)
writhing/thrashing (maybe someone’s holding them down, or maybe they’re in bed alone)
crying (not actual tears. cry as in a shrill, sudden shout)
dazed (usually after the pain has subsided, or when adrenaline is still flowing)
wincing (probably overused but i love this word. synonym could be grimacing)
doubling-over (kinda close to keeling over but they don’t actually hit the ground, just kinda fold in on themselves)
heaving (i like to use it for describing the way someone’s breathing, ex. “heaving breaths” but can also be used for the nasty stuff like dry heaving or vomiting)
gasping/sucking/drawing in a breath (or any other words and phrases that mean a sharp intake of breath, that shite is gold)
murmuring/muttering/whispering (or other quiet forms of speaking after enduring intense pain)
hiccuping/spluttering/sniffling (words that generally imply crying without saying crying. the word crying is used so much it kinda loses its appeal, that’s why i like to mix other words like these in)
stuttering (or other general terms that show an impaired ability to speak — when someone’s in intense pain, it gets hard to talk)
staggering/stumbling (there is a difference between pain that makes you not want to stand, and pain that makes it impossible to stand. explore that!)
recoiling/shrinking away (from either the threat or someone trying to help)
pleading/begging (again, to the threat, someone trying to help, or just begging the pain to stop)
Feel free to add your favorites or most used in the comments/reblogs!

I love this scene. Rex getting mad at Fives for not keeping his mouth shut while he just tried to save his (and Jesse’s) ass. Honestly I’m surprised it took so long
Fives looking at Rex for a few seconds just to then completely ignore him (I mean I get it he doesn’t want anyone else to suffer the consequences of his actions)
And Jesse’s very subtle “wtf?!” Expression after Fives doesn’t listen to Rex. While Jesse is definitely happy to disobey Krell’s orders I don’t think he would ever disobey Rex. Meanwhile Fives just doesn’t care
It also doesn’t help his situation at all. He got in trouble because he disobey orders and now doesn’t listen to Rex. IN FRONT OF KRELL! I get why he did it but it might have been a better idea to just let Rex finish.
saving this for later
For the people who love emotionally/physically traumatizing their characters, here’s some cool concepts for you:
-They hated a bad person all their life, but then realized that they were slowly becoming them
-Watching their loved ones slowly die as they are left unscathed
-Growing up to love a parental figure, before realizing that they’re actually a horrible person
-They know that they’re not a good person, but every time they try to change for the better, someone ends up hurt
-Having to take the backseat and be a side character to someone else’s story
-They know that something bad will happen, they are unable to stop it, and have to just watch as it slowly unfolds
-The person who hurt them the most came back into their life and everyone around them is acting as if nothing ever happened
-They, know they’re dying, and want to spend their last moments with their loved ones, but it seems that nobody wants them around
-Every time they ask for help, they’re given an excuse, and eventually they stop asking
-Having their trauma brushed off; their friends and family not caring about what they went through
-They have to choose one of their loved ones to die, but when they do, everyone is killed off anyways; they never had a choice
-They are always putting off and/or ignoring their problems, because it’s what they were taught, and it’s all they know how to do
-Everyone only started caring about them after they almost died
-They’re not stuck in a time loop, someone else is, but they still remember every time the loop resets, and they’re slowly going insane
-They weren’t left to die; they were left to live, live and remember everything
I love rebel fox's ridiculously big sleeves
So glad you do — I dearly love them too. So many opportunities for flourishing and swishing from a man you would expect to do exactly neither and never
Also. You have given me the opportunity to EXPOUND and I’m taking it
The sleeve is not only aesthetic, but so EXTRA
CW mutilation: Fox’s right hand index-finger: “Ahsoka’s Gift” - In the arc where Fives (appears) to get shot by Fox, enraged by this and by her treatment by the Coruscant guard during her trial arc, Ahsoka takes revenge on the offending digit that shot the gun. With her teeth, btw — it gets a bit wild. Side-note: It factors in for the other clones that Fox is not right-handed, but that’s the hand he uses to shoot Fives. Then again, most clones are trained/raised/adjusted to be ambidextrous, so — it’s just odd all around, from the outside.
GAR armor: In keeping with the AU title and inspiration (Repurposing GAR armor towards the end of pulverizing wrinkly Sith — A guide by CC-1010, ecstatically-ex-marshal commander of Coruscant), Fox has kept his GAR shoulder-guards, a cutout of his chestplate, and knee-guards (plus one shin-guard), though the paint on them has been adjusted or worn.
Oversized sleeve: Beneath the batwing sleeve and dramatic flair, Fox is hiding whatever the rebellion uses instead of the Mandalorian Whistling Birds, in addition to an elbow-mini-blaster that fires a max of four shots, and extra ammo. (Also the sleeve is removable — think detachable bridal train)
CW self-destruction: On the reverse side of his chest-plate piece, Fox has an explosive device with multiple ways to rig it to explode. While it is detachable and likely could be used to explode OTHER things, the primary intent is a last resort gesture of defiance should he run out of other options.
Fox also has a replaced tooth (which he makes use of, but no spoilers here) and a metal plate protecting the surgery point for when his chip was removed. Since Fox is Fox, he prioritized speed over care at the time, so it is permanent vulnerability due to how his skull was treated and recovered afterward.
Do you see the knifes on his thigh they are small but they are important
omg yes!!
i think another reason why i REALLY love the eah shannon hale books (aside from how generally amazing they are) is how shannon hale expands more on the royal and rebel problem.
like in the show, we don't really explore the sides of the royals and rebels beyond the usual stance of whether they go against following their stories and support raven, or whether they want to follow their stories and condemn raven for not signing and starting the entire rebel movement.
but in the books i love how shannon hale expands upon the sheer amount of utter classism present in the eah world, and especially present in this school; perfectly encapsulating how those in power are very, very concerned about keeping this brand of classism ongoing, about keeping that divide between the 'Royals' and the 'Commoners' apparent.
just the little details of the royals and the commoners having different seats in the auditorium, with the royals having comfortable padded seats as opposed to the commoners having more uncomfortable and hard chairs, how they both have different common rooms; just the little details in general which highlight how the entire concept of destinies and signing the book and legacies is a system that is established in order to keep this classism going.
the legacy system honestly just breeds more of this classism; it tells the royals they are above the commoners and it tells them about how they deserve the happy endings and the prince charmings and the glittering gold palaces, and it tells the commoners of their place beneath the royals and firmly shows them the differences between themselves and the royals and how the commoners should be happy and complacent with the endings that they get.
overall, it tells both of these groups to simply accept what is being presented to them; presents the narrative that change is unfamiliar and dangerous and bad, and as such, they should never question their system and should instead just be happy with what they get, because, surely, this system is fair, so it just ends up being what they deserve.
hell, even the fact that before raven basically formed the royal/rebel movement, people were simply separated on the basis of being royals and commoners; it could literally not be made more obvious.
anyways, i just love the way shannon hale's books expand on this and i love how you can very clearly see the ignorance present in the eah world and how everyone's worldview is turned on its head because of raven and her actions 10/10.
Only a Sith Deals in Absolutes
Consider, Sith Obi-Wan undercover as a Jedi? Mullet Sith Obi-Wan? On the name Darth Tyche, Tyche is the Greek goddess of chance, and chance can either be good or bad. Considering that Anakin was named after Ananke, the Greek goddess of inevitability, I thought it would be rather fitting. On his tunics, they’re the same color as Anakin’s when he gets older.
How the fuck.... WHY!!???
🗣️🗣️WRITERS AND FUTURE WRITERS, PLEASE LISTEN UP❗️❗️
i saw a few tiktok videos that was very concerning to me and i decided to share some of the knowledge i got because as a community of people who freely write things about characters, we need to protect our work. i have sadly forgotten the name of the tiktok users but if you guys scroll upon it, please let me know so i can properly credit the people.
GOOGLE DOCS IS NOT SAFE❗️apparently google created this AI that allows them to see your google docs documents, fics, works, whatever is in there, let an actual human read it and have it used in an AI without crediting the original writer. so if you use google docs, please watch out for any suspicious new buttons or notifications asking you about allowing access to your documents
thank you to @lighteez for suggesting “reedsy” as an alternative option
thank you to @braingoaaaaaah for suggesting “click up” as an alternative option
thank you to @koungacris for suggesting “LibreOffice” as an alternative option
THEY GOT THE AO3 WRITERS AS WELL❗️apparently some thieves i am NOT calling them people because who with moral compass would do this shit? are copying, pasting and printing out popular fanfictions on AO3, binding them, turning them into actual books and selling them on places like Etsy WITHOUT crediting the original authors. which is why we can’t find some certain popular fics or authors on AO3 (credit to tiktok user sakuradarling)
TUMBLR IS SELLING OUR WORK/PROMPTS TO THIRD PARTY WITHOUT CONSENT❗️i think i came across a post or two about it. i think my mutual @livelaughlovesubs has reblogged a post about it. check it out and turn on a switch on your blog settings that prevent this. stay safe and protect your works writers
spread the word everyone, because… genuinely what the fuck?
