How are trans people supposedly 1% or less of the population, and yet "everyone" knows someone who's trans at the same time?
Playing God is only bad when men do it btw. When women do it, it's reclaiming what's yours
Also, it's literally just a book. People still read Lovecraft, and he was a horrible racist. People read Neil Gaiman and watch the shows based on his books - and he's a literal rapist! If people can read and watch those, people can read and watch Harry Potter.
Y'all focus so much on her "funding anti-trans movements" and not on how much she works to battle misogyny.
like honestly cis people will jump through such insane hoops to justify liking hp it's absurd. today a (cis) woman told me "you wouldn't blame a person with an abusive parent for staying with the parent"...? i presume jkr is the "abusive parent" in this metaphor which is insane btw. you are not forced to rely on jowling rowling to survive. you do not need shitty wizard books injected into your veins or you will die. are you seriously so attached to a childrens' book series? do you care so little about trans lives? about the trans people in YOUR life? the gall. it feels like every month or so a (much more articulate than me) trans person (usually a trans woman; trans women are the primary target of jkr's transphobia) makes a post like this & nobody ever listens. how much do we have to say it? jkr takes any & all engagement with her work as an endorsement of her beliefs & actions. she has said this. she uses the money she makes & the attention she gets to fund real anti-trans action that has happened & will continue to happen. i'm not going to pretend like dropping her like a hot potato will fix everything, but god it will at least make her less relevant. it will keep her out of the news more. the trans people (& especially trans women) in your life will be able to feel like they can breathe around you if you just put the shitty wizard books down. the most disheartening part of all of this for me is it is such a small sacrifice to make & so many "allies" cannot even bring themselves to do that.
drop the damn books
this might be a hot take but i think that most women do have some radfem beliefs but choose not to share them out of fear of harassment or don’t recognize them as radical beliefs because of how radical feminism has been demonized.
Of course you feel disconnected from your gender it’s quite literally a made up set of rules based on stereotypes
I think consenting to sex you don’t actually wanna have is a real form of self harm but society will never recognize that bc if we do like a very large percentage of American housewives would see the inherent violence that undertones all heterosexual marriage
If you want to know why we live in a rape culture, it's because men believe that rape is just sex a woman wasn't crazy about.
So I sometimes watch Dropout TV with my partner. IDRC about it, but I do like comedy sometimes, and 90% of the time it's fine? Just fine? But -
Apparently, despite having trans people on the network, that's "not enough" for TRAs, and they "need more." Like I can name several trans and nonbinary performers off the top of my head. The people making these skits and shows are allies. And yet that's not enough for TRAs, who get upset there are more "transmascs" than TIMs on the shows.
Like, give a TRA a basket of apples and they'll ask for the whole orchard.
