Im sorry but i read this as caesars death ray and for a moment i genuinely thought that this post was implying that caesar had tried to build a death ray. And i was fully ready to accept this and just went. sigh. what kind of obscure history fact have i missed here

I have come to the conclusion I will not be able to make something for every day of rw art month. Oh well !
Life happened and suddenly i have like 4 new or newly renewed responsibilities all at once so i simply wont have the time n energy.. I still intend to make a good couple more art pieces for it, but ill reserve my energy for just the ones i find the most fun/think I can do within a reasonable time frame ! Rain World Art Month, Day 5: Looks to the Moon (Region)
Finally, after 3 days of slow work day 5 is finished ! I have a bit of catching up to do, but I'm at least quite happy with how this one turned out in the end!! When I read this prompt I immediately thought of this specific room in LttM (DM_O02)...
There's lots of stuff I could've done better with this one but I'm still, all in all, proud of it.

Rain World Art Month, Day 3: Pole Plants
Another speculative biology diagram! This time for the beloathed pole plant...
Today I wrote a bit of a thing about my thoughts making this:
I've always sorta wondered what was beneath the surface and what the rest of the pole plant looked like. First of all, I firmly hold the belief (or rather, headcanon) that it is not actually a "plant" at all (to the extent that irl taxonomy can be applied to RW creatures in the first place). Aggrevated pole plants move too deliberately for it's grasping behaviour to be a venus fly trap-like reflex, especially since they can get "annoyed" at you for throwing rocks at them.
With the idea of it being some sort of weird stationary pseudo-animal, like a sea anemone or sponge, I started drawing and ended up with this beetroot looking guy! I also rlly wanted it to have an asymmetrical body plan...
Most of its body is dedicated to digesting prey, with its most prominent features (aside from its "tongue") being a sphincter-mouth that can open to swallow larger animals (like lizards), a large acid-filled digestive basin, an enlarged enzymic gland and an anus. During rainless periods, it extends its pole-like "tongue" in hopes that passing creatures will attempt to climb or otherwise grab onto it. Once this happens, it grasps and constricts its prey and pulls it into its mouth, where it chokes the creature to death. The rest of the cycle is then spent slowly digesting the creature, and once this is done and the rain has begun to fall, it opens its mouth and anus and lets the rain water flush any leftover bones and carapace that it could not digest out of its body and down through the pipe that the pole plant is situated within. Such is the wonderous life of a pole plant (I imagine). Ty for reading my silly lil thoughts if u did...
Yongasabi, Slugcat language of the Rain World Undergrowth AU
Yongasabi originally started as an attempt to turn Rain World's glyphs into a functioning writing system for the slugcats, and that eventually inspired me to make a language for the writing system to support. As it grew, it became increasingly intertwined with my own ideas for Rain World worldbuilding, and my own project, the Undergrowth AU.
Now I'm publicly opening my language to the Rain World fandom! Seven months of work from start to the official release, with fully functioning grammar and over 1500 documented words just at the time of writing this post, I'm excited to finally release this language for other people to view, and potentially even use.
Note that Yongasabi is made with the Undergrowth AU (which is an anthro AU) in mind. It presupposes that the slugcats are humanoid, and their technological development is further along than in the game. Despite that, the language should be otherwise applicable to regular slugcats.
While Yongasabi has been developed through the lens of my own projects (Rain World Undergrowth AU and its worldbuilding) and understanding of Rain World's themes and lore, it's something I want to be accessible to the entire community. Consider it something of a gift. Anyone has permission to use Yongasabi in their projects—credit would be appreciated, and I would actually be so excited if you messaged me to let me know what you were doing. If I'm available, I can translate things too, if you need, or explain concepts from the document. Just send it to me and I'll see what I can do! Good luck!

So we've been having a bit of a debate in the office because we wanted to do the headline "Local man gives up sugar for 12 minutes" but then overdoing the "local man" trope is a bit male-centric, so we considered "Local woman" but then that sounds like we're typecasting women so that wasn't great either, but I think we've finally found a worthy compromise:
