is there anything that tends to trigger your shifts to happen or are they random? and what does it feel like for you when you physically shift?
(feel free to not answer if these questions are too personal, I'm just curious to hear what your experiences are like 🩵)
Aaaa yay my first ask on this account!!
It seems like my shifts (if you mean my p-shifts) are mostly random! My first time shifting was actually when I was sitting at my desk on my laptop, and I felt the sensation. I don't remember exactly what I was doing, but it definitely was absolutely out of nowhere.
My shifts feel like a very squelchy feeling. Imagine the sensation of worms in your hand, now imagine that internally all in your torso. It felt like my organs were rearranging. There was no external sensation. All I knew was that I was definitely shifting, and right afterward, I felt solidly like a red ruffed lemur. Funnily enough, before this shift, I was feeling very spacy and dazed, like I wasn't exactly completely there, but after the shift happened, things seemed to "solidify". It was very uncomfortable during this shift.
The second shift I had very recently a couple of days ago with the wolf, I'm unsure what to categorize that as, but it felt very much like a physical shift. I could feel my eyes and spine/tail especially. My lower back, near my tailbone, seemed to make way for what felt to be a tail. I was in the dark, so I couldn't see anything, but I could feel it. I was trying to sleep, but no position was comfortable.
The feeling lasted until the next day! I looked in the mirror to see if I had any physical changes, but I'm unsure if I saw anything unusual. I'm not sure what my body looked like beforehand, but I could genuinely feel this tail, and I could feel a change in my spine. It's gone away since then, but the shift wasn't as uncomfortable as the first one. I'm not exactly sure what triggered this, but right before lying down, I happened to look at the moon (which was not full by any means) and after a couple minutes, I started to feel my insides churn similarly to the first instance of me shifting, and then I felt my spine and tail rearrange. Nothing painful, only a little pain, but it was mostly uncomfortable.
Outside of these two instances, I don't p-shift very much! I usually experience phantom shifts, including full-body ones, mental shifts, aura shifts, among some others. Usually these are simply triggered by thinking of some of my -types, or just being in a situation where suddenly I feel like I have larger paws, have a long tail, or sharper teeth.
Thanks for the ask!! <333
Hello again! :) I had another question if you don’t mind!
Is it true that our hair color matches fur? Like dark hair = dark fur? Light hair = light fur?
Thanks!!
hello, it's not a problem at all!
I'm not 100% on hair color matching fur color, but it would make sense. I've heard it depends on your DNA, since if you're a shifter with unique pigment genetics (dragon shifters for example. I've heard that they come in all sorts of colors and aren't limited to "natural" colors) your fur/scales/feathers etc would match whatever's been passed down to you through genetics/DNA.
While I always emphasise spending time with nature in order to build that connection with spirits, this does not automatically mean that you have to hike up a mountain or head out into the middle of a forest.
You can connect to nature from your bed, from the middle of a city, in your kitchen and on a slab of pavement next to a railway.
Nature is everywhere. Nature is everything. You are nature. Rock and stone is nature. Gulls and wasps are nature.
Can't get out of bed? Watch a cool documentary or short ecology video. Read a book on local flora. Draw some cool animals. Talk to your houseplants.
Live in a city? Pray to the dandelions and nettles alongside the pavement. Ask the Spirit of Rat to help you. Look up and see the sky. Feel below and sense the earth. (Making a more detailed urban nature spirit work post, will link here too).
If you are someone who wants to work with nature spirits in your practice, please do not anything (or anyone) make you feel like you can't.
"I can't connect to nature because I live in a city" Incorrect.
"I can't connect to nature because I can't travel" Nuh-uh.
"I can't connect to nature because I-" Wrong.
Anyone can connect to nature. Please, remove the mindset that nature is something *out there*. Nature is all around you.
The dandelions peeking through pavement cracks, the birds you don't notice on your windowsill, the brambles in the alleys, the storms and sunshine.
All of this is nature. You are surrounded by it. Notice it, learn about it. Write down when you notice the days getting longer, when more butterflies appear and when ripen blackberries ripen. Connect to the nature that lives outside your window, just past the boundary of your front door.
Watch nature documentaries, build a small windowsill garden, let the spider in your room corner stay for a while.
Connection is not determined by proximity, but by effort.
My beloved partner and a member of the supernatural (shifter and vampire) community has left this world. He was never on Tumblr, but some of the old Experience Project guard might recognize the username.
We had so many things we wanted to do together, and now, we will never get the chance to do them. I was blessed to know of your existence while you were alive though, and I'll be blessed to know of it again when I leave this world. There had been issues in our relationship, but in his final days we had patched things up and I showered him with all the love and affection he deserved.
BlackRaven2015, rest in peace. I love you - there'll never be another like you around.
Hi! Possible vampire here. I have a question if you don’t mind.
How did you awaken into a vampire?
I think I’ve always known; to be honest. I have had dreams and memories of being turned. I felt euphoric and confident when I would wear those scarecrow fangs on halloween and started wearing them all the time. I study witchcraft and the occult and have read a few books on vampires- at an early age I was abnormally obsessed with learning everything about them. Now I know why.
I also have severe anemia, bad enough that I need blood transfusions every so often. It also makes me extremely pale despite my grandfather and mother being much darker than I am. I take that as a sign of my body’s lack of warm living blood. A different way of “feeding” I guess. Started to crave rare red meat more. I slowly became more aware over time, and accepted it in my mid-teens. I felt at home in the dark and am more physically active at night. I like to socialize at night over daytime. I am extremely heat sensitive and get badly ill if i’m in the sun for too long of a time. In my early 20s I attended a vampire ball organized by the vampire society in my city and I felt so amazing.
I also feel my demonself and vampireself are the same- one entity. To put it simply: A vampire demon. A demon with all the traits of vampirism. Fangs, craves blood and iron, nighttime predator. Rather than being undead I am undying- an immortal infernal entity that drinks blood. This is just my personal experience but I believe from my research that there’s different kinds of vampires and vampirism. I don’t think any one vampire will experience their awakening and their traits the same ! I’d research different vampires and see if one resonates or clicks with what you’re feeling.
the trees you grew up with have not forgotten you. their branches still whisper your name in the breeze and their roots remember the paths your feet once traced through their shade.
No, I'm not human and I never have been. I've always been a werewolf. Yes I may appear human but I'm not. It's just my human form, I'm a wolf under all of this flesh and bone.
Im a werewolf in every single way
Some little things I've learned over a decade of witchcraft:
If you are feel called to work but are tired/drained, sit outside. Take in all the energies around you. Nature can help charge you
Every witch does a little bit of a bunch of types of magic but sticks mainly to one or two in general. You usually won't be eclectic forever. You'll find what magics work best with you.
Never be lazy or cut corners with spirits. Always be respectful and always tell them to leave when you're done
When you see a plant or ingredient with a long list of properties, there are different things at play. Season of collection, the part of the plant, the health of the plant, etc all play a role in impacting which properties it will carry.
Don't call on spirits unless you have confidence and control
Be careful with sea/water magic. Get into it gently and slowly until you have the energy figured out because it can get out of hand quickly.
Adding a little pinch of magic into your breakfast can make a major difference in your day.
Your personal emotions/feelings over something will impact a work
Planting some plants is good, not only to have a garden, but the dirt helps cleanse you too. Get all dirty and muddy. It's good for ya
Not all trees are nice
The more you listen to your intuition, the easier it will be to tell it apart from your anxieties and worries
Incense is very easy to make which is why it's usually cheap to buy. But you can find a million tutorials online on how to make your own personal incense which is great if you want a spell to take effect over a while but also want to infuse the fire energy in it.
The more you work with something the better feel you get for it. Cinnamon goes in almost everything i cook and most of my spells because me and cinnamon just get right along
Your path is yours and no one else's. It will look like yours and no one else's
I had the fortunate experience of working in a tea cafe for over 8 years while finding my footing in my craft. Tea has become such an integral part of my practice, and it'd be super rad to open my own witchy cafe and metaphysical shop someday 🖤
Moon phases all have meaning, from new beginnings, to letting go, balance, success, divination, creativity motivation & cleansing & healing.
