With the type of co-design used in this study — hardware and software developed in tandem — nanowire networks may ultimately serve a complementary role alongside silicon-based electronic devices. Brain-like memory and processing embedded in physical systems capable of continuous adapting and learning may be particularly well-suited to so-called “edge computing,” which processes complex data on the spot without requiring communication with far-off servers.
Something that schools don't teach you but is much needed: how to have a work/life balance that works for you.
As someone who works fulltime and does classes and attempts a social life and hobbies, this gets very hard and stressful. But here are some tips I have for helping:
Learn to say no and not feel guilty. Picking up that extra shift when you had plans? Politely decline. Your friend is begging you to take ANOTHER class when your plate is full so you can have one together? Just be honest and say you can't.
Prioritize your sleep and eating. You can't function well if you don't sleep and eat enough. These are not things you can just push aside and do when you get the time. These are basic things you need to survive. These are literally basic needs. Don't throw them to the side. Your body does its best to take care of you. Make sure you take care of it too.
Have boundaries and be firm with them. If you tell your manager you can only work x, y, and z, don't let them add a or b to it. Respectfully but firmly let them know that you can't take on those things and if they have you do a or b, your work overall is going to majorly decrease in quality. Schedule time for yourself. For studying. For going out. And treat those set aside times just like you would if they were work or school times or appointments. You are the most important part of your life.
Understand that some weeks are going to be absolute hell. You're not going to have enough time. You're going to be exhausted and cry and throw things and want to quit everything. You got this babe. Take breaks and remind yourself how amazing you are and treat yourself after.
Prioritize things and adopt better habits. Wash your dishes right after using them. Get a set bedtime. Get easy breakfast things. Take a walk.
Your friends will understand if you just need time alone. I promise. They love you and don't hate you because you're overwhelmed. I PROMISE. And if they don't, maybe they aren't really your friends.
Not everyone is a friend. Some people are acquaintances. Some people are a 5 minute smoke break at work for your sanity. Some people are drinking buddies. Some people are library study date friends. And that's ok! Not everyone has to be your bestie. And trying to put that much energy into that many people will drain you.

Not to mention I have even more work! It's hard out here for a gorl... I have also taken a walk today, and played with the cats!

Being on tumblr feels like living in a house full of women. Every other social media feels like being out in public.
Listen to me babe. Failure is normal and part of the process. If you never fail, you're not making true progress. You're just regurgitating prior process.
I don't know why society is so obsessed with perfectionism and never making a mistake ever, but that's not how it works. You're going to forget to upload an assignment. You're going to miserably fail a test. You're going to get a speeding ticket. You're going to make your little sister sad. You're going to kill some plants. You're going to get that quiz back you were so confident about and realize that you got 1 question right. Those moments are when true learning take place instead of memorization and regurgitation.
This is why in math they make you show all your work and on science and reading they made you explain all your answers and choices with a paragraph. It highlights your thought process so you can analyze where you were right and where you were wrong. And it's ok to be wrong! No one is ever right all the time.
Don't let anyone shame you for being bad at something. Remember that they had to learn to walk and chew and talk and write and read and they didn't succeed the first few times in any of that. We should be building people up and acknowledging their faults as a way to learn and grow, not as a source of shame and despair.
Remember all the women who are responsible for the opportunity for us to get an education, and all the women who got us to where we are now, because soon enough, we are going to take their place. Together, we are making the world a better place 💖
ladies listen. we are not academic victims, we ARE academic weapons. every time you step into a classroom you are giving the middle finger to centuries worth of men in power who said you didn't deserve to be there.
being feminine in academia is a weapon in itself. they're scared of us. use that.
self-flagellation and self-bullying are all bad motivators for change BTW. it can be hard to escape from a spiral but genuinely u have to be nice to urself or nothing will change
i was thinking this morning about how things get old and the new self love habits i'm cultivating will lose their freshness. once that happens, i tend to forget about their importance and the habit gets harder to maintain. but once again this must come down to presence. sure, we want habits to become something we think less about, but we also should probably remember to thank ourselves for the work we do. so i guess what im getting at is maybe next time you do something for yourself you do every single day, like brushing your teeth or making a meal, really try to appreciate yourself for it. and maybe come up with a bunch of examples of little ways you take care of yourself. and then thank yourself for those too.
reblog this to give the person you reblogged this from a handful of candy and a full sized chocolate bar 🍬🍭🎃💀
We need to get a little uncomfortable for a minute. But it's ok. You have to be uncomfortable in order to grow.
You're going to fail. You're going to disappoint people and yourself. You're going to have moments where you're so overwhelmed that you're curled in a ball crying and frustrated. You're going to miss important milestones. You're going to drop the ball so many times things seem impossible. You're going to fail. You're going to be mean. You're going to be a bad person at points. It's life. It happens. You just need to understand that it happens. And on those days where you want to dissappear and never be seen again because everything is too much, your brain is going to amplify all these faults and failures and make them seem worse.
Babe. We all go through this. We ALL fail. We ALL make awful choices and fuck people and ourselves over. We ALL will have moments where we are the villains. Where we completely fail a lot of people in our lives due to bad decisions. It will happen. Probably multiple times. What matters is that you recognize these things and make appropriate changes in your life to help make sure that next time isn't as bad. Maybe start learning time management so you're not stressed constantly and blowing up on everyone. Maybe find a healthy outlet like painting or the gym or cooking. Find small, simple joys to make life better. It's going to suck. You're going to be the bad guy. But that's not your entire life.
It's uncomfortable and hard to sit with. Sometimes things are your fault. Sometimes you make bad choices and they fuck your life up and fuck others over at the same time. It happens. You can't change the past, but you have the power to change your future. You can change your future. Talk to people. Find yourself outlets. Learn skills. Things get better, but they only do so if you put the effort for them to do so. I love you. You're trying. And that's all you can do. And one day you'll slip backwards and feel so defeated but when that happens, you'll have many tools to help you get even further. I promise babe everything will be ok.

Starting tomorrow, I should probably do 100 days of productivity... My blog is new, and i do have 100 days worth of work alright...
Hii
Reblog for sample size <3
going from easiest to hardest to implement
i have very big trouble with focusing and interest so a lot of this will relate to attention retention
- look up the problems on your past tests. chances are your lecturer is consistently pulling them from 1-3 sources (true for most intro classes)
-practice with a timer since day 0 of learning about a new topic. this will prevent you from short circuiting on the exam and forgetting all about the topic you've studied for hours
-as you are going through a problem, mumble your thought process as if you are ochem tutor 2.0
- if you are multilingual, try taking lecture notes in a language other than the one they are provided in - this will force you to think critically about the material you are writing down
-leave. work. at the work table. dont think about assignments when you are spending time with friends or family.
-in general, the intensity of my background noise is inversely proportional to my stimulation levels usually i try to go ambient noise -> lofi/instrumentals -> study vlogs -> music with lyrics however, if you can take a break instead of listening to music that will make you more restless, it is better to do that
-usually, the boredom from practicing something boring does not feel as bad as realizing you have understudied that topic. persevere. you can do it!
Have you heard about Pomodoro Kitty? It's the cutest website for pomodoro sessions.
This is the cutest study buddy to work with after all who doesn't want to be judged by a cat when they work.

For some reason, the rooms in studytogether won't load for me... Is there some sort of issue with the platform? Back to Discord I go haha 😅🤣
MIT physicists have trapped electrons in a pure crystal, marking the first achievement of an electronic flat band in a three-dimensional material. The rare electronic state is thanks to a special cubic arrangement of atoms that resembles the Japanese art of “kagome.” The results provide a new way for scientists to explore rare electronic states in 3D materials.
