Wherever Fred and George were, you could find y/n. And whenever y/n was, the twins were close by. They had always been friends, ever since George let out a dungbomb on the train first year and y/n was sadly his victim. But nevertheless she found it hilarious and they became the mischievous trio that caused havock across Hogwarts.

Other students presumed you had a thing for one of them, or that they had a thing for you, but whenever someone would bring it up, you'd just laugh and say the very thought made you feel sick. You always saw them as your brothers and that's how it would always be.

However here you were sat across from Fred in the Gryffindor common room and there was something about him that had you staring into his eyes in an unusual way. Maybe he got a haircut? Or straightened his smile? Whatever it was had your entire world shook.

"I think that's what we should do." shrugged Fred.

"Not half bad Fred, your take y/n?" George asked. The three of you were staying up late trying to think up some great idea to help the Hogwart students loosen up. Everyone was greatly stressed due to the ever so lovely presence of Umbridge and it would be fun. The twins also had their plans to leave Hogwarts and thought this would be their grand way of saying goodbye.

"My what?" you replied caught off guard.

"Did you not hear anything of what I just said?" asked Fred.

George sniggered and poked you in your side. You rolled your eyes at him and got up from the comfy armchair. "Whatever. I'm fine with anything. Just tell me when and what, I'm off to bed now." And with a final stretch you left the common room.

"She was definitely checking you out mate." nodded George.

"Not this again," moaned Fred, "Just because I told you I think she's pretty doesn't mean she's got a fat crush on me. I'm off to bed too."

George rolled his eyes at his brother. Contrary to both of your beliefs, George seemed to be the only person (along with the entire hogwarts student body) to notice that the two of you were helplessly pining after each other. You had mentioned off hand comments about Fred to George. He wasn't stupid, he knew those comments and your stares could only mean one thing. Similarly he knew his brother better then he knew himself, Fred had had the biggest crush on you since first year. To be frank George was bored of this, and made it his mission to get one of you to confess before they were to leave.

"Morning y/n." smiled Fred at you the next morning at breakfast.

You smiled at him in return as he took his place beside you. He ruffled your hair and took a grape from your plate.

"So here's an extra idea," began George, "Theres something that I need from Umbridge's office and as you know she has those rules about no couples. How about to distract her, you two act as a couple so I can go get it."

You and Fred stared at him with a blank expression. "Act as a couple?" stuttered Fred.

"Who'd believe that smartass?" you added.

"Trust me a lot of people would." George muttered under his breath, "Just do it for a few minutes and I'll be done before you know it." he winked before leaving the dinner table.

"Hah, the two of us." you chucked, shaking your head absentmindedly at the very thought.

"I know right, I'll have to tell George drinking this early is affecting his mind." He joked, but there was something in his tone that sounded as though his mind was somewhere else. He seemed quite absent these days, ever since the two had told you they were leaving Hogwarts.

"Is everything ok Freddy?" you asked with wide eyes.

Having been caught off guard by your question, he turned to meet your eyes. He stared for a minute before nodding gently. A warm smile creeping onto his face, "Cause it is y/n, come on lets go eat each others faces off."

On your way to Umbridge's office, you took it upon yourself to take his hand into yours. To make it more believable of course and definitely not because you wanted to feel his soft skin in yours.

"We're here, and she's there." Fred finally poined out. Umbridge was stood outside her office eyeing up the two of you.

"Well here goes nothing." You whispered as you cupped his face and pressed your lips into his. At first he seemed taken aback and stiff, but when he relaxed into your touch, it was like a million little fireworks erupted onto your lips. In that moment it didn't feel like you were acting, the way how his hand came to hold your waist and how he deepened the kiss felt natural. He allowed you to bite down onto his bottom lip gently and you snuck your tongue into his mouth.

"Eh children!" a shrieking voice interrupted.

You giggled into his lips and pulled away for a breath. You looked up at him, he towered over you as he always did. He had leaned onto the wall beside him slightly, his arm resting against it. He was looking down at you with the widest eyes, and in that moment you thought you could see the need for more on his face. And so with a wave of confidence, you grabbed his tie and pulled him back on to you. You enjoyed the kiss until you were pulled back by an angry looking Umbridge, and noticed a crowd had appeared around the two of you.

"Three weeks detention the both of you." and as she marched away, you sarcastically bowed to her back as the crowd clapped at your rebellious behaviour.

"So did you get what you needed George?" you asked at dinner.

George didn't reply, instead he nodded with a wide grin.

The entire school seemed to be talking about what had happened before. And not many of them seemed to be too shocked.

Fred had gone to his room and was not present at dinner. He mentioned he had not felt well.

"It's a shame with Fred and y/n I guess, I was going to ask her out ages ago." You heard someone from the Hufflepuff table say.

"What do you mean? We're not actually together." you laughed as you turned to see two hufflepuffs in your year.

"Yeah course not." one of them said.

"Everyone knows you've been together since like forever." the other added.

You furrowed your brows in confusion, "no we haven't. Tell them George."

But George did not tell them, and instead raised his eyebrows at you.

"Your little show said otherwise." the hufflepuff boy said lastly before turning back to his food.

Ok maybe there was some slight truth to what he had said. Friends don't kiss like that. But thats all you were friends. Right? Fred had been your closest friend for the past 6 years and nothing more. Sure as of recent he had been catching your eye in a different way, but maybe that was just the hormones speaking.

"Just go y/n. The two of you are driving me round the bend." George groaned.

You knocked at his door. The rush of adrenaline you had initially felt when George hinted Fred liked you more than friends had now disappeared and reality had hit you like a bus. You were going to confess to your best friend and potentially ruin your friendship, well you say confess but you still weren't 100 percent sure what your feelings were.

"Tell me that kiss meant something to you." You blabbed when he opened the door. He stared at you for a moment before nodding.

"Of course it did y/n." he muttered as he opened the door fully allowing you to step in.

"Because, recently I've been feeling something and I don't know what it is. And everyone acts as though it's normal for us to kiss. But I don't know I really don't. And you've been quiet recently, I didn't know if you didn't like me like that. I don't want to ruin the friendship."

"y/n, darling your blabbing," he smiled, and it was that mischievous smile that you had not seen in a while, "I guess your less of a coward then me because you've finally brought up the conversation. But I'm different, I know exactly my feelings for you."

"And what are they?" you whispered.

"I love you. I've always known, but I didn't want to ruin anything. And I've been quiet recently because well me and George are leaving, I can't start something and then just leave."

"But you're not leaving forever, we can still talk and theres the holidays. And when I finish school I can come help out at the shop till I get a real job." you suggested, holding his hands.

He brought up one of your hands to his lips and pressed a soft kiss to the side of it.

"I'm sorry y/n I should have told you earlier."

"Don't be sorry Freddy, at least now I know for sure I love you too."

He leaned down and kissed you. But this time it was much softer, he kissed you as though you were the most fragile thing.

The sound of clapping disrupted the two of you and you turned to see George stood in the doorway clapping slowly.

"About bloody time."
