I Love Me A Pseudo-historical Arranged Marriage Au But It Always Nudges My Suspension Of Disbelief When

I love me a pseudo-historical arranged marriage au but it always nudges my suspension of disbelief when the author has to dance around the implicit expectation that an arranged marriage should lead to children, which a cis gay couple can't provide.

I know for a lot of people that's irrelevant to what they want from an Arranged Marriage plot, but personally I like playing in the weird and uncomfortable implications.

So, I've been thinking about how you would justify an obviously barren marriage in That Kind of fantasy world, and I thought it'd be interesting if gay marriage in Ye Old Fantasy Land was a form of soft disinheritance/abdication.

Like, "Oh, God, I don't want to be in this position of power please just find me a boy to marry", or, "I know you should inherit after you father passes but as your stepmother/legal guardian I think it'd make more sense if my kids got everything, so maybe consider lesbianism?", or "Look, we both know neither of our families has enough money to support that many grandkids, so let's just pair some spares and save both our treasuries the trouble".

Obviously this brings in some very different dynamics that I know not everyone would be pinged by, but I just think it'd be neat.

current fan creation landscape is kinda like if you went to a party with a homemade cake and everyone takes a slice and silently thumbs up at you with no attempt to start a conversation except for occasionally some guy sits in the corner with a tape recorder critiquing the cake as though he was a restaurant critic and another guy is handing the cake to an uber driver like "yeah i need you to find a restaurant that makes cake like this so i can have more of it" and the only person that's talked to you in 30 minutes is a very sweet little guy who was like "hey i liked your cake" and then ran away apologizing for bothering you the moment you said thank you.

my utopia has disability in it. my utopia includes free healthcare and no-questions welfare and state-funded carers. my utopia includes building requirements that centre disabled bodies — ramps and lifts and dimmer switches and braille signs. my utopia has disability in it. because without disability, it’s not much of a utopia at all

How to Make Home Made Puzzle Feeders

Are y’all bored as I am while stuck inside? Are your cats driving you crazy? A good way to keep you and your cats sane during quarantine is to create some home-made puzzle feeders!

All of the puzzle feeders I will be making today are created using scrap recycling and cat toys found around my house. If you don’t have all the materials, get creative and see if there’s anything else you can repurpose!

Egg Carton Enrichment

Materials Needed:

Egg carton

Cat toys

Treats

Step 1: Place treats or dry kibble in the bottom of each compartment of the carton.

Step 2: Cover each compartment with cat toys.

Step 3: Enjoy!

Modifications: To make this easier for some cats, remove the toys so the treats are visible. To make this puzzle harder, keep the lid on the carton so your cat has to tear through it first.

Treat Tube

Materials Needed:

Toilet paper roll

Newspaper

Cat treats

How To Make Home Made Puzzle Feeders

Step 1: Put treats into the toilet paper roll

Step 2: Stuff newspaper in both ends

Modifications: To make this easier for some cats, loosen the newspaper or use smaller pieces that can fall out on their own. For a more difficult toy, crumple the ends of the tube so it is more difficult to get the paper and treats out.

Treat Roller

Materials:

Toilet paper roll

Scissors

Tape

Small treats

Step 1: Cut some holes in the tube (large enough for treats to come out with movement).

Step 2: Tape one end of the tube.

Step 3: Add treats.

Step 4: Tape the other end of the tube.

Modifications: For an easier toy, add more/larger holes. Add fewer holes to increase difficulty.

Treat Digger

Materials:

Paper towel/toilet paper tubes

Scissors

Glue

Tape

Treats

Step 1: Cut your toilet paper tubes into varying heights. Make sure to cut them to a length shorter than your cat’s legs.

Step 2: Glue the tubes onto your large cardboard piece.

Step 3: Tape your cardboard piece onto a flat surface to prevent it from moving.

Step 4: Fill the tubes with treats!

Modifications: Cut the tubes shorter to make this puzzle easier. For added difficulty, stuff newspaper or toys into the tubes.

As a note: always watch your cats while they are using puzzle feeders to ensure they do not eat anything they are not supposed to!

Note to vacationing non-Americans: while it’s true that America doesn’t always have the best food culture, the food in our restaurants is really not representative of what most of us eat at home.  The portions at Cheesecake Factory or IHOP are meant to be indulgent, not just “what Americans are used to.”

If you eat at a regular American household, during a regular meal where they’re not going out of their way to impress guests, you probably will not be served twelve pounds of chocolate-covered cream cheese.  Please bear this in mind before writing yet another “omg I can’t believe American food” post.

There was a website called StumbleUpon. You clicked a button and you'd get redirected to some random website on the Internet ran by some random person about some random thing or community. https://t.co/6hoZA5hs4g
