To Be Frank, The Double Standards Of The Mcu Are Hilariously Ridiculous:

To be frank, the double standards of the mcu are hilariously ridiculous:

A man who killed people after the loss of his family is evil and deserves to spend the rest of life in solitary confinement

But a man who killed people after the loss of his family was just grieving and made a mistake

The difference? One of them is an avenger

Mind control is an evil thing to do

Wanda can mind control as many people as many times as she wants to, nobody cares

Torture is bad

It's okay if Thor, Mobius or Wanda are the ones doing it

Being mind controlled makes you innocent if your name is Clint Barton

Being stripped of your memories, even if you made a decision to torture and kill people and enjoyed the process, makes you innocent if your name is Mobius

Being tortured and brainwashed and stripped of your memories is just extenuating circumstances if your name is Bucky Barnes (they originally claimed him innocent but then changed their mind in phase 4)

Being tortured, mind controlled and having your memories altered is your own fault and is no excuse, you enjoyed it anyway, if your name is Loki

Slavery is bad

If Valkyrie spends over a thousand years enslaving people and selling them to the Grandmaster with no remorse, well, she is just making money, give her the throne

Kidnapping babies and hurting and using them their entire life is bad (if you're Dreykov)

But Thanos loved Gamora

And Loki is an ungrateful brat for not appreciating Odin

The list goes on, btw

BTAS concept/idea that just came to mind. Humor me.

What if...there was a character who was semi-aware of the fourth wall? Not Deadpool level, but just self-aware enough to take advantage of how the series is written?

Okay, so there’s some rando in Arkham. One of the many nameless background characters to fill space, right? He’s just sitting in his cell one day, watching the doctors transport The Riddler or someone back to their cell after being brought back by Batman. That’s when he suddenly makes a realization.

Looking at all the people in the cells along the hall, he notices a very specific detail. Everyone labelled as a ‘supervillain’, everyone who dresses in costumes and commits crimes under an alias, they all inexplicably end up being given the ability to escape multiple times.

The guy decides to test this out after managing to get out of Arkham in one way or another. He gets a bunch of materials together and makes himself a make-shift costume, then picks an alias and goes out to commit a crime. (Let’s say for the sake of simplicity that he chooses a plague doctor theme, and, let’s just call him ‘Plague Rat’.) Sure enough, Batman shows up.

One thing leads to another and suddenly, he finds himself developing powers after the Batman encounter. (Idk, maybe he can communicate with pests, like rats?) Then is sent back to Arkham.

He notices that his appearance has suddenly changed. He looks a little less normal, a bit more...’iconic’? Then, the next thing he knows, he’s given an inexplicable opportunity to escape with a bunch of other rogues gallery characters.

He notices that each and every ‘supervillain’ is connected to Batman in some way, thus, he ends up coming up with a theory that he tests as well. He goes out to commit another crime at the same time as another villain, sure enough, Batman shows up and manages against the clock to stop them both.

This makes Plague rat realize that Batman is basically the protagonist of the story. This encounter also makes him realize that he’s suddenly impossibly lucky, able to just walk into dangerous situations and walking away with barely a scratch. Thus, he ends up taking up the habit of just throwing himself at danger haphazardly in his plans, as well as growing the balls to piss off other stronger baddies without fear. Even going so far as to outright bet other inmates on things that seem stupidly dangerous. (”I’ll bet you that I can go punch Killer Croc in the face right now and I’ll be fine.” He does, and right before Croc can attack him, a guard suddenly appears and breaks them up.)

This behavior would probably catch the attention of two people in particular: The Joker and Scarecrow.

Joker would be interested, as his careless and chaotic behavior meshes with his well.  Scarecrow would be interested purely because of just... how is he so careless? It’s like he’s completely incapable of feeling fear?

Scarecrow at one point sprays him with fear toxin, after a few seconds of silent horror, he’s surprised to find Plague Rat laughing? He just starts yelling in hysterical laughter:  “None of you can see it! None of you! I’m untouchable! Send as many demons, monsters, and serial killers as you like! Do your worst! It won’t help!” (Laughing mostly to cover how much he is actually afraid, but he’s still confident in the pattern.)

The entire rogues gallery just ends up being conflicted on how they feel about him. On one hand, they kind of trust him, because his predictions are usually correct, but on the other, he’s so eager to just throw himself at certain death. But on the other other hand, he always manages to get out of those situations perfectly fine? Arkham’s inmates just end up spreading a rumor that he can somehow see the future.

Maybe in his fights with Batman, he even starts saying stuff like: “-But before you foil my plans and take me to jail, why don’t we make this more interesting for the audience? After all, the hero always needs to face some peril in a good story, right?” Or “Please, this plan of yours is just going to fail anyway. Why are you taking it so seriously?” Or even, “My backstory? Oh, it’s nothing you need to worry about, a good story always trims the fat if it isn’t important, after all.” Or how about, “Trust me (Rogue name), just jump out with me! ...Yes, I get we’re in a blimp, but we’ll be fine! We’re both main characters!”

Basically: He’s a Batman villain who can see his own Plot armor, and he’s just having fun with it.

Idk, I just had this idea and I wanted to share it, because I thought the idea was at least somewhat interesting.

My thoughts on the 'Happy ending AU’

As much as we all like to imagine a universe where Loki survives Thanos and joins the Avengers in some ‘good ending’ plot line... I genuinely don’t think he’d be an Avenger for very long, if at all.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he can’t ‘be a good guy’ or anything, but I can’t see him being an Avenger. Not only because of his bad rap with earth, not only because Thor is involved and their relationship is rocky at best, but because of the other characters.

I have no problem believing that Bucky, Steve, Thor, Vision, and maybe Bruce (Seeing Ragnarok) would be willing to give him a chance. Strange and T’challa... maybe, if simply because they weren’t really involved with/aware of his ‘mishaps’ in New York. However, the others? ...I genuinely can’t see them being too welcoming to him. Especially Tony, Clint, Pietro, and Wanda.

The situation with New York I imagine would hit a little too close to home for Wanda and Pietro, so they’d at the very least be wary of him at first. Tony and Clint on the other hand, would be unabashedly cold to him. I can see Tony even borderline bullying him sometimes. (Using him as a punching bag because he was the root cause of his trauma from NY? Maybe not purposefully, but I can see him subconsciously targeting him for that reason.)

Other characters like Sam, Peter P, and Scott would probably only have known him through the news and other things detailing the events of the disaster, so would most likely see him as a terrorist. I don’t think I need to explain why that would cause some issues.

Because of this animosity, I don’t see Loki being able to be an Avenger. Not because they wouldn’t try, but because Loki just wouldn’t be able to stomach the treatment he’d be levied.

Honestly, he might be similar to Natasha in that regard. Wanting to ‘clear his ledger’ and believing that joining a group of ‘heroes’ would help him redeem himself. Only this time, instead of it being filled with hydra members, it’s filled with people who treat him just like everyone in Asgard did when he was growing up.

A chance he’d be given, but some characters would give it reluctantly, and some would keep treating him like a criminal until he eventually just gave up and left.

Dunno, that’s just how I see it. Don’t let me ruin your fun though, a ‘happy ending’ is definitely deserved for all of these characters, so feel free to disregard this little angsty headcanon of mine, lol.

Also, if you disagree and think I’m mis-characterizing someone or missing a piece of info, feel free to explain why. I like having discussions about stuff like this, haha. ^v^

I’m honestly not a big fan of Cillian Murphy’s Scarecrow. Y’know, the one from The Dark Knight trilogy?

I dunno, he just didn’t strike me as THE Scarecrow. He seemed more like a copycat criminal mimicking Scarecrow? If that makes sense?

It seemed like one of those things where ‘the real’ Scarecrow would show up during an end credits scene and fear gas his pretender while proclaiming that Murphy’s Crane was a faker.

I don’t know why I feel that way about it. That version just rubbed me the wrong way, I guess?

Maybe its the actor? Don’t get me wrong, his performance was fine, but I don’t look at Murphy and think ‘Yeah, that’s Jonathan Crane’.

I Know It’s Not Hard To Point Out Reactionaries Hypocrisy When It Comes To Like Safe Spaces Or Hug

I know it’s not hard to point out reactionaries hypocrisy when it comes to like safe spaces or hug boxes or whatever but genuinely how much of an echo chamber do you have to exist in for you to think this is a reasonable thing to say

I watched the animated ‘The Mummy’ series so often as a kid, that I managed to quote the beginning monologue at the start of each episode almost 100% perfectly as soon as I heard it.

I just saw that it was on Peacock and decided to watch it again for nostalgic reasons. Then as soon as the music kicked in, I managed to quote it along with the narrator almost word for word, lol.

If I made a Batman movie, I'd cast Robert Carlyle as Scarecrow/Jonathan Crane.

Look at the roles he's played and tell me that man wouldn't do a fantastic job. Whether you want him more serious, or more 'hroo hraa'-esq, he'd play the part well.

I feel it in my bones. He's the ultimate choice.
