I just need one small break β some reprieve from the prison that is my employment.
ok but like. there are two different types of privilege. there's type a "everybody should have this, but some people don't" and type b "nobody should have this, but some people do"
there's having parents who can pay for your application to any college, and then there's having parents who can bribe your way into any college. there's owning your own home, and then there's owning 50 houses and getting rich off hoarding a vital resource. there's not fearing for your life whenever cops are around, and then there's being the cop and being allowed to murder anyone at any time.
idk i just feel like that's an important distinction to make.
Everyone say thank you american indigenous people for cultivating corn, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, cacao, pumpkin, squash, and anything i missed. Makes life more meaningful globally

Fatigue feels like you have sandbags tied to your feet while trying to walk. It feels like you havenβt slept in weeks. It feels like gravity is pulling you down. It feels like cotton balls are in your head, clouding everything.
Fatigue is NOT the equivalent to being tired.

I've been using reddit more and my fucking god the programming subreddits are horrifically racist. when asked why the cs industry is so bad right now they all turn to blaming indian people for "stealing" tech jobs. I want to know how these white guys making $150k a year in their cushy remote jobs with flexible hours would feel if they had to work 14 hours a day until midnight so they don't inconvenience their usamerican coworkers by making them wake up earlier, all for worse positions and shit wages too.
and like yes, many tech jobs have been offshored to india, but that's not the fault of the people who live there, it's the fault of corporations who want to cut costs across the board by exploiting a larger labor pool in a country where they don't have to pay nearly as much per employee. the benefits are twofold, as after they've offshored these jobs to india, they can drive down wages in the us too, knowing that they've created a smaller, more competitive market that leads to people so desperate for work that they'll take any tech job, no matter how little it pays.
you have an enemy, and it's not the people that are now getting these jobs; they're just trying to make ends meet and live their lives, and they'll take whatever opportunities they can get in order to do so. you have more in common with them than you'll ever have with your boss, who benefits greatly from turning you against each other. imagine what we could do if we united against them instead.
