“And today, I sat in my car alone in the empty parking lot and cried. I cried for the girl I was at 9, I cried for the girl I was at 13, I cried for the girl I was at 16, and I cried for the girl I am today. I shed tears for the versions of me that were killed and born out of necessity, out of survival. I know I am not responsible for the hurt people bestowed me, but I am the one who bears the consequences of other’s failures. I am the one who knows how much blood was spilled, and I am the one who sees the scars that were left on my skin as a reminder of what happens to vulnerability. I am the only one who mourns what other people killed in me.”

I hope you never reach a point where nothing makes you feel better. Talking about it doesn’t make you feel better, staying silent doesn’t make you feel better. Seeing the ones you love doesn’t make you feel better, isolating yourself doesn’t make you feel better. Eating doesn’t make you feel better, starving yourself to feel a more urgent pain to distract you from the real one doesn’t make you feel better.
I hope you never have to write about it, and find out, that even that, no longer makes you feel the slightest bit better.
It’s my fault, isn’t it?
I wonder if this is common: As a kid I would lose all emotions for periods of weeks or even months, I would feel nothing and live as a zombie, it felt like nothing mattered and nothing could touch me. During these periods I had very little patience or consideration towards others, I would sometimes snap at people or fail to offer reassurance and comfort, and I’d feel incredibly guilty afterwards, but still couldn’t force myself to be kind and gentle at all times. I just wanted to be left alone and not hurt anyone. It would scare me, just how out of control everything was and how much I didn’t care, I would try to force myself to feel something, I would do dangerous things to myself to try and force a reaction, because it felt like I wasn’t a human being anymore, and as if I wasn’t even alive. I would eventually be able to snap out of these by sinking into fantasies and dreams of things that gave me hope, there wasn’t much but I wanted to stay human no matter what.
I understand today I had to be dissociated from my feelings to that degree to stay alive thru traumatic periods of my life. I have very little memories from these periods except occasional fear that I wouldn’t be able to come back to myself and feel things. Do you remember struggling with this? Is it more universal type of experience of childhood trauma?
Trauma things #73: You became a writer because no one listened.

Look at those scratch marks. LOOK AT THEM. This was no misunderstanding. This person could’ve spoke a different language or not have the ability to speak at all and their message was still 100% clear and he 100% care only for what he wanted. Stop saying this BS. Stop joking about rape. Stop dismissing victims.
“I tried shoving all of my feelings down my throat, because no matter what I wanted to believe or not; I Deserved It.”

Frustration / longing / love
You don’t understand, I don’t want any of it anymore. I don’t want happiness or love or success or anything. I need to stop living because that’s the only thing that can make my pain go away. So no, you telling me to wait for good things doesn’t work. Don’t you get it, no matter what happens, it’s always going to hurt.
““It’s sad” she said “what is?” He asked, “I mean, you ask someone about love and they tell you about heartbreak.””

I’m thinking of reasons why I liked you. It’s because I didn’t think bad about myself when I was talking to you, I didn’t have the urge to cut when I felt your touch on my skin, when I saw your smile and heard your laugh I felt like everything was going to be okay. You were the perfect distraction and now I have nothing…

I can never find the right words to tell people what I’m thinking. Telling them I’m tired doesn’t work, but I can’t seem to vocalize that I’m mentally exhausted and sick of existing. Telling them I’m sad doesn’t work either, but I can’t explain that I’m struggling not to kill myself and that the joy in everything in my life is gone and when I wake up to the sun in my eyes, I have to struggle to get myself out of bed because most of me didn’t even want to wake up at all. I can’t tell them I’m numb because what I’m feeling is so much more complex than numb and I don’t have the vocabulary to tell them that I feel like I’m drowning and it terrifies me that I feel nothing as it’s happening, and that my insides want to scream but I can’t even find it in me to shed a tear anymore, that every single aspect of my life feels like it’s shaded in grey because all the colors were sucked out but I can hardly even remember what colors are because I can no longer remember a time I didn’t feel like this. No, I don’t know how to say that. So I just whisper “I’m fine.”
Someone help me.

A message to you:
You’re pushing me away and I don’t know what to do. I care about you, I always have and I always will. Do you, do you care about me? You say you do, but then you ignore me. “I’m that way with everyone” you say, but there you are laughing, having a thirty minute conversation with another. When I try to talk to you, you barely respond; you brush me off. You’re someone I thought I’d know forever, but there you go slipping away from me. Although I’m fully capable, I don’t understand and I don’t think I ever will - because you’ll never tell me. Inseparable one minute, barely talking the next; oh, how the times change. I’d do anything to help you, and I’ve proven that. Once things got better for you, do you leave behind the ones who have helped you in the process? Is that what this is? You should surely be able to clear this up, but you won’t.
I’ve hurt my self to help you. I’ve made sacrifices to be there for you. Is that not enough? Is wanting what’s best for someone 24/7 not enough? I never asked for anything in return but honesty. This is didn’t even get.
So it’s been almost a month since you last texted me first to talk. And I realized that I shouldn’t have to question if you still want to be my friend or not. So our friendship is in your hands. Take care of it or don’t; I don’t care anymore. I love you and I’ll miss you and our close friendship but I’ve learned where I hold myself as a person. And I will never beg for someone’s attention, I will never force a friendship, and I will never keep myself in a toxic one-sided relationship. I’ve made the effort, now it’s your turn. I’ve shown you that I care, prove to me you do too. Nurture our friendship back to good health, if I really mean that much to you like you say.
I care too much about people. People take advantage of this. I get used; my feelings abused. Hopefully you won’t do the same.
There’s a chance you’ll see this but a very strong one you won’t (I assume you don’t pay attention to me as much as I do to you). If you do see this, you’ll know this is about you. I want you to see this, in fact I’ll be happy if you do.
Do what you want; it’s your life. But don’t you ever say I was the one who drifted away from you or that I was never there for you. I was, however you wernt. I still want to be friends, but a friendship can’t work if it’s only one way. At the end of the day, if you wanted to be my friend, you’d be acting like it.
