I am becoming aware of the effect a lack of trust in the media has had on people, paired with a dearth of research skills.

Meta goes to arbitrator to prevent whistleblower from promoting tell-all book

Hey did you know there's a tell all book about the behind the scenes of Meta and the author is forbidden from promoting it?

The good news is however that it's already published and can't be stifled and whoever didn't sign the NDA can promote it as much as they want.

Riveting

Today I had a dream that I was heisting a multimillionaire’s skyscraper.

I and some friends of mine walk into the lobby of a giant skyscraper. It looks very expensive. There is a mall section, office section, living quarters and even an airport??

We were a group of around 10-15 people with one objective get to the super secured vault in the dungeons under the skyscraper and steal valuables from it.

Before starting our quest we went on one of the last floors of the skyscraper. In a very luxurious apartment we had a meeting with an old lady. She was the mother of the millionaire. Upon entering we saw that she was very ill and maybe was near her death. There were guards in her apartment and when she saw us she asked them to leave us alone. After that she told us that in her son’s vault there were dozens of documents with which he was blackmailing a lot of people and evil plans. It happened that she was the one who hired us to do the heist. She wanted to show the world what her son was.

Our group went towards the lower levels of the skyscraper, in the mall part, and waited there until it got dark. Then we took the staff stairs and went even lower to the underground levels.

When we exited the staircase we saw a corridor that looked like the interior of a mall. There was hole that went down almost as if it was infinite.(you know the holes that are inside the malls like shop on the one side shop on the other hole in the middle so you can see the lower floors this what I’m talking about) There were some construction sites in the corridor where we were and there was one just before the entrance to the vault.

We were slowly making our way to the vault. When we heard speaking. Two girls from the staff were checking and locking doors. Our group split and runs for side corridors. I and like 5 of my friends find ourselves in the a small corridor-like 4 metres- that looks like a hotel corridor. It is a little lower than the one in which we were before, so we all laid on the ground so the staff couldn’t see us.

Unfortunately we were seen. An alarm was raised and this meant that our group needn’t hide any longer. We sprang out and almost everyone ran towards the vault. I went to one of the girls that raised the alarm and asked her what had she done. She answered that the alarm will show the guards on the ground floor which exits to guard. I was confused until I heard a voice from the speakers saying “To all the guards guard the exits marked with emergency exit signs”. Then I saw that every exit, even the elevators were marked with emergency exit. I knew we were cooked but we had a mission to complete.

The girls from the staff took the elevator and then we compromised it so it couldn’t go down. This would buy us some time. I took a look at how the breaking in the vault was going we were almost tho the half point. 10 people working on the vault and 3 guarding.

From nowhere four guards from the skyscraper appeared. One of them kicked me in the back and I almost fell in the giant hole. I turned back and engaged in hand to hand combat. This is when I realised that the two other guys that were guarding our group were Hawkeye and Black widow???

The three of us fought the four guards. Black widow kicked one in the big hole and while two were trying to escape the last one fighting with Hawkeye and was winning. I jumped and pushed him over but oops now he was choking me. We stood up he still holding me. Then Hawkeye threw me two knives he took from the other guards. I kicked the bad guy and then when he was a little further I threw both the knives hitting him in the eyes. He fell dead. We put him in the second elevator and sent him up as a message.

Then Black widow suggested that we should go find the others because they could disrupt our plans. Hawkeye stayed on guard while the others were almost done with the vault.

We went running towards the two guards and see them running in what looked like a duty free shop. We lost them from our sight. Because we had no weapons (the two knives we left in the guard) Black widow suggested burning the shop instead of going in and risking our lives.

Before I could say anything we were running and apparently we went to the airport because we were in an actual duty free shop that was busy. We bought a ginormous bottle of liquor and a lighter (this was like 200€) and then we went down to where the vault was. (I have no idea why the people at the airport didn’t stop us)

We were going towards the place where we last saw the guards when…

My alarm rang.

If I could give Zoomers and Alphas one piece of advice, it would be this:

Get a cemetery hobby.

There are a ton of cemeteries out there where the last burial was in the 1970s and the living relatives are none, and at best someone might mow once or twice a month. Find one near you. Adopt it. Put your phone in airplane mode. Better yet, leave it home.

Clear the dirt and twigs from the graves. You can use plain water. Get one of those bamboo back scrubber brushes if you want to do a thorough job--it'll get into the cracks and crevices but also be gentle enough to not harm the stone. Take crayons and paper and take rubbings of stones you can't read. Think about what the lives of those people might have been like. Take a hobby with you that requires no technology, like fiberwork or drawing or reading. Sit for a couple of hours a week and listen to the birds and the bugs and the dead, away from TikTok dances and buy-buy-buy and CCTV.

You probably won't be questioned--it's highly unlikely a semi-feral cemetery has security. But if a security guard or cop does come by, the best part of this whole thing is that you can literally tell the truth: you're there because it's quiet, and you can think or participate in your hobby uninterrupted. You're showing respect, because it's sad that nobody is ever here. You don't want to harm anything--just to be still for a little while. Hell, depending on your religion you can even honestly say you're fulfilling a religious obligation by caring for the dead.

Cemeteries by design are meant to be stayed in for awhile. It's taken as a given that family and friends of the deceased will want to visit the graves, tidy them, and leave flowers. As long as you're not vandalizing anything, there's no reason for this to be called "loitering." You are using the cemetery for its intended function.

Here's the key to all this: this is not for public consumption, a thing for you to liveblog on social media or do a blow-by-blow writeup of. It's for YOU, only for you. Nothing you do in this time is for mandatory consumption by others. For a short space of time, you're off the grid. Technology can be great in its proper place, but the panopticon is not good for you, so make a blind spot for yourself.

Adopt a cemetery.

And if you happen to be in my hometown, you already know exactly which cemetery you're picking seeing as there's only the one, so do me a favor and mosey on back to the corner by the fence nearest the lake. You'll find a pair of depressions, each about the size of a coffin. If it's close to a federal holiday they'll have those little bronze flag holders on them.

Tell my Revolutionary soldiers I'm still getting them plaques someday, and enjoy my corner. Once upon a time I sheltered from the noise there, too.

When I read “taking your blorbos places”, I briefly thought you meant “becoming your own blorbo”, and I was like “wait, that’s just narcissism”.
