Danny makes a small mistake that spirals out of control three years later. It starts on a fateful day while working in Clockwork's Tower, covering for the Time Lord. He had pushed for the man to take a break after hearing he hadn't been on vacation since the death of dinosaurs.
It was also recommended by Frostbite. Apparently, the stress of his job was causing Clockwork to lose grip on his age shift. Much like a human grinding their teeth in sleep due to stress, Clockwork's core was rapidly shifting him through his ages, causing aches along his core. When Danny met him, the way he went from child to middle-aged man and finally old adult was just physical proof of Clockwork's stress.
His shifting got under control after they defeated Dan, but that didn't mean his muscles had a chance to relax. He was a little better off the second time Danny saw Clockwork, but when Danny asked if he could return to his parent's college days, Clockwork's form quickly started shifting again.
Danny felt horrible about it, but he was fine taking over for the ghost to relax on vacation. It wasn't even that hard. All he had to do was watch the various timelines and record large catastrophes and bursts of hope. He also had to watch hourglasses that indicated the natural flow of time in multiple worlds. Sometimes, the sand would get stuck, so he would need to stir it with a large spoon, careful to not let anything else touch the golden shine of the time sands.
It helped that the Tower was semi-sentient. It overheard him making up lies about what he was doing on a call with his parents. Danny had told his parents that this summer, he was going away to work as a summer camp counselor, while Clockwork had selected a timeline that was moving at a different speed.
One month in Danny's home dimension was a hundred years in the one Clockwork was relaxing in. When Danny's school started again, his friend would have a lovely four hundred years to enjoy. Of course, this was a tiny break for a being like Clockwork, but Danny promised to take over every summer until he graduated.
The Tower had created a room that looked a lot like a log cabin whenever his parents attempted to video call. It even created a paycheck with actual funds directly deposited into his teen account that his parents had access to.
Their doubts about Danny lying vanished when "Camp Kronos" placed a rather generous amount of money under his name. His dad was even proud of Danny going out of his way to earn his own money. It's been a long time since his Dad sounded like that when talking about his accomplishments.
Clockwork had told him the Tower spoke to him mentally because it was his Haunt, but since Danny was only Haunt sitting, he was directed to a chalkboard that the Tower could use to write messages to him. That's how he knew it was the Tower's doing that his cover was safe back home.
Danny thanked the Tower by cleaning it from top to bottom. When he asked it what its name and pronouns were, the Tower requested to be called "it" and to stop using a capital T when referring to it.
Danny tries, but he still mentally changes tower into Tower since that is its name in his head. The tiles shake in irritation whenever he accidentally says it out loud.
Besides that, the Tower didn't really interact with him. Danny made his own food, did his own laundry, and did his work. There was never a clock in and clock out; the only time he wasn't attending the timelines was when he took short breaks to sleep, eat, bathe, and clean.
But the only time he wasn't watching the time was when he was asleep, and that was because of Tower. It somehow found a way to throw the timelines in his face whenever possible.
He did enjoy using the large tub to soak in bubbles, but Tower shifted the bubbles to reflect different scenes of the timelines he was watching, causing them to flout like the tower was blowing bubbles while Danny sat in the water. If it went that far to ensure that Danny was constantly working, he could see why Clockwork had such a hard time with the core shifting.
Then, one day, while soaking, he closed his eyes, ignoring the shifting tiles and the slight rumbling of the walls as Tower grumbled. He told it that he was taking a short break and it could wait until he was done. He would rest his eyes, no matter how important it was for him to watch.
He couldn't have them close for more than a minute, but that was all the mistake needed. At that time, one of the bubbles' timelines shifted because someone in it was being an idiot and messing with time, and it started to glow with new times and forming.
Sand that Danny accidentally touched when the bubble popped right on his nose. Tower was throwing a fit, shaking everything like an earthquake as the sand fell into the soap water.
He blinked open his eyes, startled, and much to his horror, came face to face with the sand, forming a miniature window into that timeline. A human teenager was staring right back at him, jaw dropped with a healthy building flush rising on his cheeks, as the time sand danced around his eyes, though he seemed unable to look away from Danny.
Windows were often granted to specific individuals favored by Clockwork, causing them to become Seers. It was not a common blessing because, more often than not, mortals could not handle future knowledge.
Even ghosts long dead struggle with the power. The only reason Danny was able to cover for Clockwork was because his brain was both dead and alive at the same time. Madness cause time couldn't touch him because, technically, he was already crazy.
Tower shook again, the stone groaning under its disapproval as Danny became uncomfortable, aware that the only thing protecting his dignity was the white foam low on his stomach. With a yelp, he sank further into the water, his hands covering his important bits out of habit, and he waved his hand to close the window.
The teenager moved his mouth in a silent plea, but he vanished in a swirl as quickly as he appeared. It was only a few seconds. Not even ten. Surely nothing could come from that?
A mistake he pushed to the back of his mind.
Surely, not paying attention for just a tiny amount of time could not have caused anything to be too bad.

"Hey dude? You okay?"
"I just....I just saw an angel...."
"What?"
"An angel. He warned me....showed me....I have to tell Mr.Wayne!"
"Wait! Where are you going!? Tell Mr. Wayne what?!"
"His son is going to die next week!"
"What!?"
"Jason Todd! The angel showed me! I have to warn them!"

Tower didn't tell on him, and Danny didn't bring it up. Clockwork returned in mid-adult form when the summer ended, looking far more relaxed and no longer shifting forms so rapidly.
He apparently spent four hundred years on a small paradise island, sipping coconut and dancing with locals who thought him a god. He hugged Danny, another large bonus for his paycheck, and sent him on his way.
The following summer, Danny completely forgot about the little accident and never bothered to check on that timeline. Clockwork was unaware there was a major shift in it, so he assumed that the world was moving as it should, though he complained that he had to unclog it a lot more because of a Seer who often opened too many Windows.
It was a testament to how much he needed that vacation for Clockwork to forget he never chose that Seer, despite the young human proving he had the will to handle his visions.
\Danny never realized that Seer was the same teenager he saw back then until one day three years later when Seer was an established fortune teller working as a consultant with some hero society and had used some of the said heroes to try and contact Clockwork.
"Danny." Clockwork started watching the young human set up an altar. "Why is a human attempting to use himself as a virgin sacrifice for me?"
"Ummmm"
"Danny, why does my Haunt claim you gave him the Sight."
"Well....."
"Danny why is Timothy Jackson Drake, who fated to be the third Robin in this time line, now a mere consultant who use his power of Sight for money gain? He's not a hero, did you know that? He merely lives next door to one of that world's greatest heroes and is obsessed with finding his Angel"
"I may have....made a mistake when I was fourteen."
"Danny," Clockwork's faux-friendly tone grew sharper as his form shifted from the three stages of age. "What did you do?"
"I can fix it!"
"How."
"I'll....enter that timeline and set it on the right path? I can answer his summons and convince him to become a hero with the Bats?"
Tower shook as if laughing at him.
"How." The hiss that came from the Time god was almost incomprehensible, with the amount of rage crammed into one syllable
"I'll-I can-Honey pot him!" Danny whimpered, cowering under the withering death glare Clockwork was aiming at him. "I can convince him that being a vigilante is cool and hot, so he'll be Red Robin, and the timeline can be saved?"
Clockwork's eyes darken. "You better not fail me. Send him away, Haunt"
Tower- the traitor- moved instantly. It shifted its stones to drag Danny to Red Robin's cluttered hourglass. It flung him in before he could protest, using Danny to unclog it. He is nearly down in the sinking sand, scrambling for purpose before he falls flat on his bum, and the sand vanishes.
A soft gasp has him looking up. Standing before him is the Seer Tim Drake, who looks beyond happy.
"It's you! My Angel!"
The Master Post
Just a Bite:
Danny's homeless on the streets of Gotham, when he gets a terrible idea from some passerby. now, three weeks after living with the Waynes, they still haven't noticed he's not supposed to be there.
Part one, Part two, Part three(to be written).
While Tim was working with the Ra's and the League of Assassins he learned that Damian had a twin that went missing a few years before Damian came to Gotham. This is information he took a mental note of for later as he was more concerned with find Bruce at the time.
It's something he honestly forgets about though, and it isn't until months had passed after the time stream incident that he even recounted it. When he does Tim decides that maybe finding out what happened to Damian's twin would help mend their own relationship.
Thinking that maybe the reason Damian is so angry is because he never got to properly bury his, at the time, assumed dead brother. Only Tim doesn't find something that needs to be buried; he finds Danny Fenton.
Now Tim knows that he should probably go and inform Damian and Bruce that their brother and son respectively is alive. But that would ruin the surprise reveal he was already planning out in his head so he doesn't do that. Instead, Tim travels to Amity Park with one goal in mind: Convince Danny to come back to Gotham with him.
Bruce has to go off-world for something since he does not trust his children to not destroy Gotham while he is gone, he calls up his cousin to watch the kids. (Grown up) Danny shows up and has to wrangle his cousin’s children. Danny is full-on expected to be babysitting a bunch of little kids, he is surprised when most of them are adults.
Bruce's kids didn't expect to have a babysitter---they are not pleased. So they decide to make Danny's job 10x worse.
Danny wasn't originally going to butt into their patrols, but they're being annoying. So Danny messes with them on patrol.
(Alfred is on vacation and the thing Bruce has to deal with is short notice. Bruce did not want to cut Alfred’s vacation short)
Danny was supposed to be on the run from the GIW. Which he was, don't he didn't get him wrong, but he'd only had a few run ins with them, in Chicago, and NYC mainly. The foster care system was another issue. Somehow social workers were more competent than the GIW.
The first time he'd run in with them had been in Missuiri, accurate to the name it was miserable. He knew he had a baby face, he hadn't aged since he'd died after all. But was eighteen really such a stretch? he was sixteen after all!
Apparently it was, because they found the abandoned warehouse he was staying in and put him in foster care. He wasn't too happy about that. But he stayed, the Mathews were nice if a bit odd, but the GIW came to town and he ran.
They found him. So he ran again. Eventually he stopped staying stopped waiting for the ball to drop and just ran first chance he got. They started putting him in places for bad kids, places that had top notch security, still he ran. The foster system, infamously known as being terrible, kept finding him. They didn't put him in good homes, but they found him. He kept running.
Danny was done with it. Until he found Gotham, because their foster kid was practically nonexistent. It didn't really have other perks, but Danny didn't really have other options. So Gotham it was. The city was basically hell. Kinda, in reality it was just full of organized crime, violence, and death. A whole lot of death.
The dead roamed the streets, except they weren't ghosts. They were shades. Contrary to popular opinion they aren't the same.
Ghosts are their own being, an aspect of their past but not the full thing. Ghosts had moved on from their deaths. They were beings of the infinity realms. But shades are beings of the living realm. Because while they are dead, they linger, because they haven't accepted their deaths.
Danny knows he would have been a shade had he not been a halfa, he would have been watching waiting, for years. So he talks with them, to those who don't accept it, and they move on. Slowly losing the doubts from their life.
He talks and they help him in return. Shades after all understand humans, ghosts don't. They understand doubts and worries and pain. So they help him, they show him the cheapest stores. the crime free places. The best places to get free food, where to find shelter. The parts of the sewers where Grundy or Killer Croc don't roam.
So he learns, quick and fast, he knows Gotham in a way no one else does. The dead guide him. But the dead are not the only otherworldly inhabitants of Gotham. The city herself is ancient, a city spirit with so much power it's otherworldly. yet she smiles upon him.
He doesn't quite know why, he is young, weak in comparison, and yet when he asks she answers "You protect things, my city needs more defenders." He takes the duty with pride. He cannot be Phantom, but he's Danny. He's reckless perhaps, but he defends. He doesn't fail.
Ever.
Despite never failing, he gains attention. The protectors of Gotham notice him. The first time he meets them it's after a knife wound. He knows taking on the guy was dumb, but he wasn't about to let that girl get hurt. Or even worse r@ped,
He's taller, a red helmet and leather jacket. Just jazz's type. Danny meets his eyes evenly, he's dead. Partially, really it's been ages since he met someone who's contaminated. But he ignores it because they look at him with anger.
"What the fuck kid?" His tone is gruff, harsh grating, he clearly had a voice changer Danny notes. "Don't do that again, ever," the warning is ominous, Danny has no intention to listen.
so he vanishes, fleeing from Gotham's beloved knight and hiding. He feels guilty, that he's not listening. But he can't, because the shades are there. Begging him to help their home. So he does, he listens.
But he's not doing enough, he knows that. But he can't be phantom. he'll die. He doesn't want to die again. Not at the GIW's hands.
But Gotham needs him. So he fights harder. Night after night, he takes bullets, shuts down drug rings. He shuts down a trafficking ring and shows the meta kids how he can float. They giggle and laugh. It reminds him why it's worth it.
The second time he meets one of them it's a kid, Robin they call him, he's outnumbered, yet he's holding his own. Danny helps anyway. "Go away!" the kid demands, worry in his voice.
Danny doesn't care, he fights, and he takes them out. it's easy really, fighting. He's used to it, they don't even have guns tonight. The kid fights too, with worry in his eyes as he looks at Danny. Danny knows Robin doesn't want him in his city, but Danny can't leave. He won't.
Red Robin is next, blue eyes,and he moves like grace, Danny's hurt he knows, the shades muttering, scolding. He knows getting hurt makes stuff harder, he's such an idiot. And Red Robin reaches for him.
"Are you hurt?" he calls. He's judging him, Danny knows, telling him that he's weak. And he's right, so he runs. The shades guide him and he vanishes.
He meets Nightwing later that week, in the middle a taking down a drug ring, Danny fights, and he does too.
"Hey!" he calls. Danny runs, he's mad, Danny knows it's his fault for interfering, he didn't mean too. He did, he won't stop. He;s sorry.
Two days latter he is confronted by the bat, "Why are you here? Don't you have somewhere else?" he asks. Get out is what he's sayying, Danny can't there's no where else that's safe. Nowhere where he'll be okay.
So he runs.
---------
In case you didn't notice Danny's unreliable in this. So ha ha yeah the bats are trying to help and he's freaking out. So the bats perspective is coming up soon!
so kinda freaking out, so yesterday I felt bad, like puked and then just fainted, my roommate dragged me to bed, she thought I just fell asleep on the floor cause I've done that before. Am fine but thought I'd share?
also love ya'll! and I'm working on my Danny/Dick thing fingers crossed I'll be finished with part 4 soon!
Bye!
Billy has embarrassed himself a lot in life. Whether it be through mundane things, or the fact that he even trusted Ebenezer to take care of him in the first place, he’s had a lot of embarrassing moments. That includes this one.
Music Meister: “Sing I say, SING!” *shoots a spell at them*
Shazamily: *all get hit*
Billy didn’t even know how it happened. One moment they’ve been hit by the spell the next they were wearing matching outfits. Not the normal matching ones they wear. The type of stuff one of those boy bands Pedro likes wears. Darla and Mary were wearing the outfits too, though for some reason, Mary and himself had the same outfit?
(There’s only five Backstreet Boys so because they’re twins they get to twin while the others get their own individual outfits).
Pedro: “Why’re we dressed like the Backstreet Boys??”
Marvel: “What in the world is a Backstreet Boy?”
Music Meister: “You’ll find out soon enough, Marvels! I made sure to put some extra bit of juice into this spell!”
Marvel: *horrified* “What?”
It was then music started playing out of nowhere.
It was also then that they started choreographically dancing to the tune of Everybody (Backstreets Back). The Music Meister ended up hitting a couple other people with his spells so they would be their backup dancers too.
The piece of shit (and Billy doesn’t use that lightly) made them spectacle. Everyone around them was recording them, taking pictures, and uploading it into the Internet. It was one of the single, most embarrassing things that had ever happened to Billy. Billy also didn’t know whether or not it was good or bad that they all did the dance pretty nicely, though that was probably the Meister’s magic at work.
Freddy later showed him a video while they were both in their Marvel forms. Billy literally sunk to his knees and started bawling.
That was uploaded to the Internet too.
Marvel:*curled up into a ball*
Junior/Voltage(?): “Hey, maybe we should do that aga—”
Marvel: “NO-WUH.”
Wally, tied down to a stone table and about to be sacrificed, feels more than offended.
This particular cult is trying to gift him to some minor god of protection or something, he wasn't particularly paying attention to the specifics, saying that the god needs a new member of his harem.
"But we chose this one because of his qualifications!"
"Indeed, we sense the eldritch within him!"
The god or whatever raises one white eyebrow.
"Re. Jec. Ted. Rejected. That? That whole thing?" The being asks, waving a hand generally at Wally's everything. "That is not going anywhere near my Fraid or my Haunt."
"Hey!" Wally says incredulously, "The hell did I do to you, man?"
"No no, that's the beauty of it!" A cultist interrupts him, also motioning at Wally's everything. "As a member of your harem and also one already tainted by the unknowable, he can stay out of your personal lair and stay in the Eternal Void, and you can just make sure he pleases you in wherever way you desi-"
"That thing is also not getting anywhere near my dick. In fact? This? This is done. I am done."
The being snaps his fingers into fingerguns, points at the shackles on Wally, and breaks them with green beams of light.
"Run free and far away frommmmmmmholy fuck get away from me!"
"So what, am I not good enough for you?" Wally asks, now in the beings face and ignoring the cultists.
Fuck those guys, but this just got personal.
~~~~~~
Danny is being hounded by one of Clockwork's worst nightmares, thanks to a stupid cult that thinks he's A, a god, and B, has a harem.
Great.
He's supposed to be at his 21st birthday party, getting legally wasted, and now he's getting hit on the man responsible for a not one, not two, but three week adventure through the time stream he just got back from.
This man and his ilk are responsible for nearly all of Danny's Clockwork Assignments, specifically to fix the timestream and reality, and he has the balls to ask why Danny doesn't like him?!
You already know Danny absolutely takes every chance he can to embarrass Vlad. Every single one.
They’re attending a Gala and Danny does everything in his power to ensure everybody thinks they’re vampires. Hisses at people, loudly talks about 1800’s events as if he were there, and recoils when he sees a woman’s cross necklace. Everything he can to perpetuate rumors. Vlad is exasperated. His name and pale skin, along with the fact nobody in high society has ever seen him in the day, does not help this rumor.
They’re visiting metropolis to take a tour of LexCorp because Vlad has to sign some type of business agreement. Danny is there because Maddie thought it would be nice for him to get out of Amity every once in a while. The business agreement is out the window the moment Danny walks in the room and loudly proclaims, “oh! So you’re the ‘bald idiot’ my godfather keeps mentioning.”
Vlad knows no peace, even in amity park. He has to give a speech as its mayor? Danny is either in the crowd, asking him the stupidest questions, or he’s trying to convince the town, as phantom, that Vlad was his killer when he was alive.
Just everything he can to make this man’s life more difficult.
Chapter 2: Immediate Regrets
previous/next Masterpost
Danny had been in Gotham for exactly three days when the first incident happened.
To be fair, he wasn’t looking for trouble. He was just trying to enjoy his coffee in a small café near campus when he felt eyes on him. That alone wasn’t unusual—Gotham was full of shifty people. But when he glanced up, he saw a familiar figure sitting a few tables away, reading a newspaper.
Bruce. Freaking. Wayne.
Danny nearly choked on his drink.
Nope. No way. Jazz was going to murder him.
He immediately looked away, gripping his cup like it was a lifeline. Okay, play it cool. Maybe he’s not actually looking at you. Maybe he just happens to be here.
He risked another glance.
Bruce Wayne was definitely looking at him.
Danny’s fight-or-flight instincts kicked in, and he reached for the creepstick in his pocket. Jazz told me to use it. She told me to hit him with it and run. But I can’t just assault a billionaire in broad daylight, right?
Then Bruce got up.
Danny panicked.
In one swift motion, he pulled out the deodorant stick and chucked it at Bruce Wayne’s head before bolting out the café door.
Behind him, he heard an elegant but startled, “What the—?” followed by the solid thunk of deodorant bouncing off the man’s skull.
Danny did not stop running.
Meanwhile, inside the café, Bruce blinked in surprise, rubbing the spot where he’d been hit. The deodorant stick lay innocently on the floor, rolling to a stop near his shoe.
He slowly picked it up, turning it over in his hands.
“…Huh.”
Bruce Wayne was many things—billionaire, businessman, Gotham’s most eligible bachelor—but above all else, he was Batman. And Batman did not ignore suspicious behavior.
Bruce smiled faintly to himself, already forming a plan.
Time to investigate.
Dcxdp trope twist
Danny didn’t mind being on Young Justice. He loved being around his new friends, and he truly felt accepted and cared for. However, since Vlad screwed up, he had to request to become last resort for the time being.
The rest of the team is confused, until Kon uses his x-ray vision and informs Tim through clenched teeth that there was a second core inside their teammate’s body, one with a baby slowly forming around it.
