(PLEASE KEEP IN NOTE): That this is just my general idea of him, kinda scared to share this cause qjdnnejf I know everyone has different opinions on Makoto so I'm just posting this in my own prespective of him. (It's a little messy cause I am unstable and disorganized when I write this so beware ooo)
Here's the art I made for this
So like, I believe Makoto has issues I think we all established that, and the moment when komaru mentioned of how he changes a lot in UDG (but still hold some same aspects of traits and habits that just makes him.... him) after managed to contact him the first time. It strucks me so bad that it gaves me a migrane /vpos
Like, Makoto earned his new title of the ultimate Hope (with the capital H and everything) just by defeating Junko the ultimate despair? By that point he was seen by the world as the savior and as the first and only hope they have thought lost for YEARS
Makoto's ability to move everyone by just words to which he probably didn't even realised the power he held over it. He's just incredibly passionate and its because his whole body speaks GENUINE emotions, his stubborn willpower and determination undeterred by despair and everything Junko herself has set up for.
It is something not everyone has the luxury to have. His optimism. But that's the thing.
Makoto was the ultimate Hope, only because he was just optimistic in nature. It was the flock of the moment during the last trial, his contagious optimism is what everyone, his friends, the world, preceives as Hope. The enlighting feeling of inspiration by just words of support and motivations for the first time since years after the tragedy started.
But again. Thats the thing. The "Hope" they admire, they clung onto, they worshipped, and they DIE for, was his mere optimistic nature. Just like he said himself "Optimism is all I'm best at".
Its cause well, it's true. (Kinda)
All he was ever good at in his view was just being that. When I rewatched future arc I sense how unBEARABLY useless he is without that title and usual positive nature, and his words don't reach the leaders of future foundation from attempting to kill one another (aside from certain ones, and at the very end ofc, but even then it was too late to prevent the deaths). His words doesnt even managed to reach Ryota from preventing him in using the Hope brainwash video.
It just further shows how.... normal he is
Despite the title, it just shows that he is nothing but a normal guy. He's not some god everyone preceives him to be, he's just some dude that was placed in a wrong time and place.
It's like all the good he is being- well, normal. Like typical "good kid". Somehow it kinda hurts to think about it, like you're obligated to see all positive in lives for it as everyone depends on you for such.
And now the whole world was in the palm of his hands.
I feel like he's scared, despite his strong stand and brave, determined face, he is a normal, ordinary guy that scared to lose what he was ever good and seen by everyone as. Being optimistic and hopeful.
Its like he's not allowed to even be sad for a moment to cry his hearts out. Because the world depends on him, his friends depends on him, he rely on them too much, he cant lose hope cause if he does, the world will fall apart AGAIN, and people will die AGAIN (just like his classmates, just like the people who died for him) he doesnt think he can handle that the second time.
Since that one thing Makoto despises the most is violence. Death to be exact.
He was probably exhausted but he cant yet, he has to keep moving forward, for the world's sake, his friends' sake, his only remaining family; his sister's sake, and for the sake of those who had died so he can carry out their hope that was left behind.
Theres also this quote that remind me of him:
"I'm scared that the moment I look like I'm suffering. Noone will believe me anymore"
Because like. He really cant do things as much without his friends. All he has was his hope; his positivity, determination, and optimistic nature. So he stood tall, facing despair, putting up a strong look just so people of the world, and his friends know, that they all can trust him. To have faith in him.
Because being optimistic is all he's best at.
That hope he has held dearly was destroying him internally. Scary thing is it? Despair isnt what was breaking him. It was the very thing that he was good at. And the very thing everyone thought of when they see him.
Just like junko when you think about it. She- ultimate despair, destroyed herself by the very thing she is (basically executed herself in the last trial) and now makoto was doing the same thing.
"The world's hope", "the strongest who never falters at the face of despair", "the savior", "their guiding light"
How much longer should he keep that up? Before everyone realised that he's nothing but just an ordinary, plain, boring guy?
How much longer should he fall before allowing himself to hit the ground?
A sprout who never truly managed to grow old, it's choose to shelter other by it's leaves, holding still, unmoving.
Yet its roots slowly rotten by parasites and disease, trying to keep the earth together. They can't die now, they're the protector, the hope of it all. <-(quote by one of my friend Ele, which I think is neat in itself, considering Naegi's name means sappling or seedling in general ajdhwjdj)
He may have survived the first killing game that birth his title as the Ultimate Hope,
He may have survived the second killing game in the Neo world program that shows us how devastated it must be for Makoto that Nagito would go that far for the sake of hope, how Makoto's words and hope does not reach the remaining survivor,
He may survived the third killing game in the Future Foundation where it must be devastating that he's unable to understand the victims fully from preventing them to try and kill eachother off ("don't try pretending you understand them, you don't understand them at all" kinda feel), where he watched as Kyoko died for his hope, not telling him THAT she will die, letting him live because not only that he was the closest friend she ever has, but knowing her; she thinks that the world still need the ultimate hope, and because of that, she was ready to accept her fate for it, because she was assured that Makoto is strong enough to move forward even when it's hard, because she has faith in him. Because she believes that Makoto will never give up Hope.
Eventhough he had survive countless scenarios where he could die anytime of those. I feel like eventhough he had survived multiple times.. he had died, multiple times as well, to become who he is now (multiple rebirth symbolism). To the point where he is unrecognizable in his own eyes, the feeling of the old him far out of reach, who is he now?
Things are so simple to him back then, why does things don't make sense to him about himself now?
He may never feel lonely outside, because he believes that his friends will always have his back, he believes that there will always be someone that could give him a hand.
But here, in his own mind, in his own exhaustion, in his own struggle, in his own confusion, he is completely all alone. This one is his alone to go through, his friends has too much on their plate already to handle this, he relied on them too much already.. (in a way, perhaps, he try to rely on others less).
Theres soooo many I wanna say about him but this is the general idea of my view on him, or er, version ig? His accidental savior complex that is.
And don't make me start of his self-sacrificial tendency. /lh
Don't look up yokai watch 3 us physical copy prices
The whole “smol bean”, “cinnamon roll”, and “potato” stuff gives me the major ick.
Soo... this probably wont get any attention but i dont want it to get lost between all the other ideas in my head-
As someone who's least favourite game is Goodbye Despair (shocking, right? I almost got doxxed on tiktok for this.) One of the many reasons why i dont like it is the atmosphere. In THH, the students are trapped in a school. Windows and doors are completely shut with metal plates, as we know. It creates a really claustrophobic atmosphere and makes it feel actually like a scary situation. Like, just imagine the dark halls of an empty school at night. During a killing game. Creepy.
In v3, we have another school. This time the windows and doors are not closed off. They have a huge garden, and some other buildings in it. But what makes it feel, again, claustrophobic is the huge dome/cage thing over them. Also, i think it fits so much with the "its actually fiction" plotline, like its not claustrophobic in the traditional sense. I think you'd feel less trapped, but more small and insignificant.
But in Goodbye Despair, i just dont get the same "trapped" feeling. Yes, they are in an island. They cant go anywhere. Except its a much bigger area than the other two, and definitely more comfortable. Though the "creepy" aspect still exists, due to island being abandoned. So, here's my alternate setting for Dr2! Of course this is just a idea, an AU of sorts... Im not trying to claim my version is better or anything lol.
What if Dr2 started in a cruise ship. It starts with class 77 on their way to the jabberwock island (for rehab since they are remnants). But before they could reach the island, monokuma stops the ship in the middle of ocean and starts the killing game. I think it would be scarier at night and more claustrophobic than an island. Since its in the middle of ocean, they could add a rule like "you cant kill a student by throwing them to the water" And someone will exploit the rule by throwing a dead body to the water. The cons of my idea is that chapter 4 wouldnt exist, which is one of my favourite chapters/trials in the whole series. And maybe Nagito bombing the hotel(?) In chapter 5 would be...uh..tricky. because if he bombs somewhere in the ship, it could start sinking. Actually, thats interesting too. The ship starts sinking, very slowly. So during chapter 5 and 6 they are racing with time. And the game ends with makoto, kyoko, togami coming to save them in little boats.

Get ready for a heart attack!!!
Thought I get in on this holy bandwagon, but Luce has a friend to tag along.
This audio from Star vs the Forces of evil worked way too well in reference to how the Neo World Program works! It could have fit any character but I always associate Star with Sonia so I decided to use her!
Fun fact, within a day of posting this on tiktok it became my second highest viewed video ever and highest viewed animation I’ve done which is wild! (It’s currently at 163.0k views!!)
Sonia... I know your trying to be nice here but I would leave Ruruka be; she clearly doesn't like you so maybe leave her be.
I do apologize if I have done something to offend you. I am merely trying to make conversation.
No, don't apologize Sonia! That bitch started it!
Yeah, we didn't do anything to you! So don't start shit with us for no reason!
"Didn't do anything"? "No reason", huh? *siiiiip*
Let's do a little role reversal here. Say that I was super destructive terrorist that ended the world.
And then one day, I came to all and was all, "Oowoowoo~ I'm sowwwwy~ I did a wittle fuckie-wuckie!~ I was bwainwashed you see? Pwease fogive me~ Oowoowoo~"
Knowing all the damage, crimes, and lives that I might have done then. Do you really think you would accept and forgive me so easily?
.............
Didn't think so. *Siiiiip*
I don't know where you get off and think everything is going to be just, oh-so-fine for you, even if that brainwashing excuse is true.
You're dead men walking. No one on EARTH is going to want anything to do with you. Your only "future" is to sit back, look up at the ceiling, and let that electric chair fry every single cell in your worthless brains.
And I for one, can't wait to watch.
So, *siiiiip*, laterrrrzzzz! Hahahaha!~
*Ruruka skips cheerfully out of the room with Sonosuke following her*

Rising Hope
PAIRING: Hiyoko x Male Reader (Romantic) (Fluff)
SUMMARY: (Y/N), Hiyoko’s boyfriend, cures his classmates of despair without the use of the Neo World Program.
Hiyoko adored you, her boyfriend. She trusted you, felt comfortable around you, and didn’t feel the pressure to be rude just to protect herself from you. Her and the whole class thought your ultimate to be the most intriguing, being titled the ultimate copycat. You could essentially copy any skill if you studied or observed it hard enough. You didn’t really feel much need to use such a skill set until everything happened.
You weren’t inside the killing game, but you escaped from the rest of your class, having the skill set necessary to reject being brainwashed and survive the Japan you once knew now in ruins. Junko, using her analyst talent, knew you would try to ruin the fun of her game, so she used your one weakness against you; Hiyoko Saionji.
You were too preoccupied with trying to save your girlfriend, so Junko was able to continue her killing game in peace. Unbeknownst to her, you were already undoing her evil deeds on the outside.
Thankfully it wasn’t too hard to capture them. You’ve seen them and many others perform their talents time and time again. It was simply a matter of outsmarting them that led to you capturing them all. Izuru was the easiest since he complied from the beginning.
By the time you had done that and found an empty building to contain them all, news of Junko’s killing game ending spread quickly. Some of the remnants were upset to find out she had died, others didn’t care much. You knew that someone would come looking for the remnants, and unsure of what would be done to them, you hid their existence from the public until you could fix them.
In order to break Junko’s brainwashing on them you tried to remind them of the old days. You made the building resemble their classroom, made a robotic version of Chiaki to fill the void of her absence, and interacted with them all as if nothing had even happened.
The quickest one to adjust was Nagito, he was relishing in the hope filled within your actions. The others, especially the more aggressive ones, were fighting back from even the slightest nice gesture.
Hiyoko was the one you wanted to focus on most. Despite not wanting to play favorites considering the situation, you couldn’t help but spend most of your time with your girlfriend. Dancing with her, having dinner dates with her, squishing ants together, anything to bring back her memories.
She was reluctant at first, but as her memories of you slowly became clearer, she removed the walls she had made and began to open up more, eventually becoming disgusted with despair. Especially once she realized Junko had only used herself and the others for her schemes.
Hiyoko jumped into your arms, sobbing tears big enough to fill a room. She regretted everything, and promised to do anything if meant things could go back to normal; just her and her boyfriend, with her friends, all in a classroom playing games and having fun with each other.
After Hiyoko was cured, the others began to follow suit one by one, each time helping you fix the rest of their classmates. By the time the Future Foundation found out where you were, all the remnants of despair were no more. Makoto was surprised by your accomplishments and told you his dream of rebuilding Hopes Peak, wanting you to hold the title of ultimate hope alongside him and his friends.

I think they should make a game where you explore the abandoned husk of Hope's Peak Academy and you're haunted by Class 78's ghosts. Maybe it's some team sent out to do the whole "rebuild the school that was the root of all these problems in the first place" thing that happened at the end of the anime for some stupid reason. I miss those kids and I think it would be fun if they became fucked up murderous spirits because of how much they were left by the wayside in the meta grand scheme of things and their in-world history was pulverized by just being reduced to a footnote to the "and Makoto Naegi saved the world because he just had so much hopey-hope-hope!" shit. Especially in the context of a renovation, papering over the bloody walls and sponging up the gore and pretending everything is as it was and always has been. It's compeeeeeelling and also I think you could have a lot of fun with it mechanically. I can see Taka as some red-light green-light sorta thing where you can only move when he's not looking at you. Chihiro makes tech around you glitch out or spark (to the point of potentially electrocuting you). Mondo oozes through a tight corridor as a terrible blob you have to run away from. Eerie singing echoes from the bathrooms. Please god think about it.
