Yeah please do, I would like a new game to look forward to on the switch. I am very happy that the artist life was added (obvious reasons) but with how you're describing their advertising...oof that is rough. Really hoping this game doesn't suffer from the EarthBound effect where that game flopped in the U.S. because of its marketing campaign, which would be a shame bc from what little I played on the 3DS, it is super charming and cute.
Like happier than if a Tomodachi Life 2 was announced and Gay "Miitosis" babies were real. (I am normal and ordinary.)
So a friend and i have been following along with updates pretty closely, and when she sent me a link to the worst β and let me make this clear, the WORST β presentation from Level 5, i watched it and started giving timestamps of when things we haven't seen were shown...
To the Japanese viewers (no English subs, my friend sent a youtuber reacting who could normally translate) this was promised to be "A big show about 40 minutes long that would talk about new updates like a new Life (aka class)!". I was definitely interested, this series is one of my Autistic special interests, as well as a favorite childhood game, so i watched.
It ended up actually being 50 minutes of two comedians rambling while a lead developer showed screenshots that most of the people interested in the game would have already seen via their website, or their most recent trailer.
The youtuber (Shoutouts!) who seems to know enough Japanese to get by, was pretty much groaning and uncomfortable the entire time and was struggling to say much besides "they're rambling", "they're just talking about..." and "i don't know what's really going on", while reading the Japanese comments in chat (which he was saying they were losing interest as well π¬).
To save any fellow Fantasy Life fans the trouble, i will compile the new information we did get, along with linking the previous English trailers and the English website!
Keep in mind, i did not played Fantasy Life Online, so this will be new information from a 3DS-only player's perspective.
A pretty standard, as expected, basic trailer one would expect from a game like Fantasy Life in this day's culture. Besides some super minor plot details β story takes place 1,000 years in the past, they're trying to restore the future β there's nothing new or interesting here for anyone who's played the 3DS game, BESIDES a new game. 2023 release date.
A different version of the trailer that reveals an Animal Crossing: New Horizons-style island terraforming mode. (An easier/faster looking method shown in the Sep. 23rd presentation)
Mostly just an extended version of the teaser to make it feel like a more marketable trailer. Some interesting new details are that:
There are WAY less hairstyles and colors... So i HOPE there will be more unlocked throughout, instead of just being available at startup? (Or maybe i'm missing something?)
Items on the ground are auto-collected upon walking over them
New Paladin Master, likely new Masters for other Lives (Lifes??) too
Two mystery Lives revealed in the selection of ones we've seen before (as of September 23, we know which Lives they are)
Town Builder Mode? (Gameplay shown of a different feature or updated version shown in the Sep. 23rd presentation)
Four character parties now, as opposed to the 3DS' three
Combat dodge roll
Combat UI Shown
Damage indicators look bigger and more defined
Combat button prompts
(Button prompts: L to Lock-on, R to Sheath weapons, X to Use shield, A to Attack, Y (Upper left of screen) to Use pouch item, X+A for SP using attacks (i assume like the X attacks when shield is unequipped/the attacks when using the other weapon-types?)
The website has actually been pretty useful as for getting new information with stuff that might be being teased as well!
The avatars they use as defaults seem to be wearing a sailor outfit and a safari/explorer outfit in multiple screenshots. (Personal belief is that they're for a story-driven Life that hasn't been revealed yet. More on that below!)
Avatar creator screenshot that reveals a lot less eye options, looks like hair isn't the only choice being gutted, probably every option is
New Farmer Life! It has a Hoe icon! It's a gathering one!
"Battle" Lives are categorized in Blue, "Gather" are Green, and "Create" are Pink
The other mystery Life is after all the pink, Create Lives, so spoilers, it's one of those!
...Aaaand the website was updated! So even though the section showing the full choice of Lives has one grayed out with a question mark... The next section has right there in the Create section with a big, red "New!" symbol! Wow! It's the Artist! With a Paintbrush icon! I am so excited to make more furniture, instead of having new ways to fight/make myself stronger! π₯² (If we can't at least use this to create weapon charms or armor decorations or something...)
A section with one screenshot for House customization, Town Planning Mode, and Island Restoration, respectively.
A section teasing how to unlock new NPCs in your town/game
A section with scrolling screenshots that show the Sailor and Safari outfits multiple times
Here's the original stream, it is entirely in Japanese, with no English subs. I do not speak Japanese so i watched a Youtuber who knows a lot more than i do reacting to it, the link to that is below.
This presentation sucks. So i will give timestamps to the interesting parts!
PLEASE READ: All timestamps provided are from the Ming Goose reaction video, i do NOT have timestamps for the original stream. The timestamps are [Minutes:Seconds] FYI.
At 27:30: They show some gameplay of a new town editor that seems to have all or most of the Island Restoration (The terraforming feature) built in as well
At 28:45: They show the town center being restored from some ruins we've seen in previous trailers
At 33:00: There's a screenshot of new plushling characters (and King Goose talks about Real Plushling Plush Toys being shown on a couch or couches! Fantasy Life merch real??)
At 34:20: They announce they will be playing the game.
At 35:40: They actually start showing gameplay of the cooking minigame (keep in mind the times look close together, and you may watch through, but it is actually unbelievably painful with how much time is being and has previously been wasted to this point)
At 37:45: Goose starts explaining that the gameplay is just the Japanese Event demo, and that there will be another presentation the next day. Gameplay showing the characters walking around the hub world available in the demo happens around 37:40
At 39:00: A combat tutorial appears, followed by a combat demonstration at 39:35
At 43:10: A fishing tutorial appears, followed by fishing gameplay at 43:55
At 50:50: The New Life is finally revealed as Artist. (King Goose heard Designer however, but that may just be the Japanese name for it!)
At 55:00: The original Japanese stream ends.
Throughout the stream they announce there will be another stream tomorrow (time listed on the website)
In reference to Lives and the Sailor and Safari Explorer outfits, my theory: (because the presentation section had very little to actually show, considering the attention it demands).
There have been a LOT of screenshots of the avatars in the starting, leather outfit, them in the Safari Explorer outfit, and them in the Sailor outfit. I don't know if that's just all we'll have at the beginning, or if the latter two will be part of a story-driven Life.
The reason i'm leaning on Life, especially for the Sailor fit, is because of a screenshot that i saw in the 3 minute trailer that shows multiple Lives, with their icons, Life Names, and Life Titles/Ranks, where the Sailor is shown, but is the only one that doesn't have a unique icon or name (the ranks are all very likely just "Novice or Fledgling").
I'm wondering if that's because it is a placeholder, because Level5 is terrified of giving us information or something...
Probably cringe but i marked the Life icons/names of the second screenshot to show what i'm rambling about. Red are the Lives that have a unique name and icon, Green are the Paladin (Top Middle), and the "Sailor/Explorer" (Bottom Middle) name and icon, and Blue might be the Life Ranks? They may also be the characters above next to the smaller icon, and maybe what i highlighted is actually the character's name?
Regardless, it is strange how often these outfits are shown, including in cutscenes and promotional material/art...
(Image ID: A screenshot of the final section on the website, showing a screenshot of an avatar with the Safari outfit, running from some enemies above some text, and another screenshot of the same avatar in a cutscene looking up from the ground, shocked below the text. Text below it says "Why not start a new Life?" End ID)
Of course this also could just be this "default" player avatar's signature outfit... That seems to be a common trope happening lately with gaming companies.
Fucking true
The Splatoon lore is that whatever team wins splatfest, the answer to the question is now legally that answer
If the answer to "What's most important in life?" is legally "Money", y'all actually just created capitalism in funny squid game.
And yes. Team Love lost. You have created a loveless society. "Love Wins." is a gay pride slogan, and now y'all really let "Love lose"? Despicable.
Can't believe y'all are celebrating Ron "Fishball" Desquidtes becoming president and creating a loveless, super-capitalistic society.
Splamerica will never be the same...

I know I said Azamuku was next in Tenshi's bio, but I ran into a block when writing her, so I instead wrote this abomination. This idea was one I've had since highschool for a monster that embodies fear itself and feeds off of it. No art this time because I'm not confident enough to actually draw this fucker. Without any further delay, here is my new OC, Perturbyzz.
Age: Unknown
Gender: N/A but most refer to him with He/Him pronouns due to him having a masculine voice regardless of how he appears
Species: Fear Eater
Sexuality: N/A
Height: Between 2'2" and 9'9"
Perturbyzz's form varies depending on his prey, though the form that he consistently appears in is an arachnoid creature that is mannequin-like in appearance, with 6 or more legs that have human hands on the end, crab-like arms with pincers and a scorpion tail that injects hallucinogenic venom. He is able to morph his form freely and can shrink and grow a fixed amount. One limitation his morphing has is his inability to deviate from having mannequin traits until he injects his prey with his venom and enters their mind. His movement is very rigid much like a marionette and he is able to contort his body in nearly impossible ways to unnerve his victims often making clicking sounds with his body when doing so. When he morphs human characteristics, he usually has an unnerving, wide, fanged grin with empty eyeholes that can have sharp teeth growing inside of them. His voice is masculine and tenor. When pretending to be passive, his voice sounds comforting and alluring, but when he shows his true nature, his voice is distorted, shrill and demented sounding with a subtle growl.
* Sadistic and mentally deranged. Takes pleasure in making others suffer
* He masks this at first by appearing formal and humble to lure prey into a false sense of security
* Has a vast vocabulary and uses unnecessarily lengthy and hard to pronounce words in his sentences
* Has a gruesome imagination and is creative when concocting environments or forms to torment his victims with
* Chaotic and hard to predict
* Likes to stalk prey to study them before making his presence known or luring them to his domain
* Doesn't see the need to physically kill his victims, often letting them go if they manage to survive, though the number that don't die from stress or trauma (physical and mental) related causes is very few.
This section is here because this fucker is a swiss army knife of terror and agony
* Hallucinogen Venom is akin to multiple doses of pure LSD but isn't deadly. It is able to knock the foe unconscious and puts them in a nightmare designed after their worst fears. The nightmare world appears nauseatingly bright colored with occasional eyes constantly following their movement. The venom leaves foes in a state of delirium, feeling sluggish and dizzy.
* Has psychological abilities that only work when the foe is unconscious, where he can enter their dreams and terrorize them with his imagination. In the real world it is limited to showing Perturbyzz what their victim is afraid of.
* In a nightmare, Perturbyzz is much more organic looking and more fluid in his movement. He has unlimited potential with how he can morph. Ranging from multiplication, to being able to become really tiny to almost skyscraper height.
* In the real world, he is able to make holes in his body that shoot out light to disorient his victims. The holes also usually have teeth jutting out of them
* He can change the color of his body much like a chameleon. He uses this if a victim has a fear to a specific color (usually appearing pure white or purple) or if he needs to camouflage
* His morphing abilities do allow for mimicry if he happens to see the victim with someone they trust while stalking them. He will copy that person down to their characteristics, but it's usually easy to see through this due to him usually lacking personal knowledge, him still having his puppet-like movement, parts of the disguise still having mannequin aspects (though this part is hard to tell if the victim happens upon him in the dark or if the person he's mimicking wears clothing that hide these details), and the voice sounding off-putting.
* If you manage to get over your fears, Perturbyzz struggles to adapt to this.
* Nothing scares Perturbyzz... except for his own reflection. If you want to ward off a potential encounter with this monster, carry a mirror. This will not work if he is currently using mimicry, however
* Perturbyzz doesn't fight and often flees when he is no longer able to torment a victim, or if the victim becomes the predator. However, when he's backed into a corner with no way out, he will not hesitate to kill the perpetrator.
* Sometimes Perturbyzz goes overboard with his psychological horror and throws all of his cards on the table, which can potentially screw him over
* Perturbyzz can get really careless and think he is invincible when he has his victims backed into a corner especially in dreams
* Perturbyzz's favorite fears are Koinoniphobia (fear of rooms) and Nyctophobia (fear of the dark), as one allows him to visualize complicated mazes of rooms for his victims to stumble through, and the other lets him hide in dreams very easily
* His least favorites are Erotophobia (Fear of sex) and he will ignore it if the victim has other fears to exploit.
* Not much is known of where Perturbyzz came from or if there are others out there like him. He never reveals personal information except for his name even when his life depends on it.
* Some people actually seek out Perturbyzz to get a thrill out of his venom. He will sparingly comply with these requests but only if the thrill-seekers bring him an unsuspecting offering in return.
* Perturbyzz reproduces asexually, but the reproduction kills the parent, so he chooses not to for the time being.
* Perturbyzz has to molt every 3 years. He often uses his molts as decorations in his domain and it helps ward off threats
* When Perturbyzz is unable to feed off of fear, he instead feeds on fungi. He is immune to poisons, so he can eat any kind.
* He REALLY likes to morph eyes in places they shouldn't be on his body.

Hey Tumblr, can you not have all your ads be videos? It's annoying as hell to scroll and have a video full screen without my consent and having to close it.
I'd rather have the ads where I can play a minigame, those are actually fun.
