Megaman 30th Anniversary Collab Pics!

I sincerely apologize for the slight delay in this, but I was waiting for Soul to post the digital fanzine first, before I went ahead and made a post myself with everyone who participated. However, being at work all day yesterday, and not knowing it wasn’t going to go live with the Hyacintho remix album, it didn’t leave me the chance to give the OK for people to actually post their art on the actual anniversary date. So the timing is off, and that’s my bad. I know a lot of people wanted to post yesterday, and it was the intention, but it just didn’t work out. 

However, just as we aren’t necessarily getting a game announcement or release on the date itself, it doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate this whole year, let alone a day later! So I’m going to go ahead and reveal this all today. And when Soul has the fanzine ready, I’ll definitely share that with you all, too.

Since there’s no way to really showcase everyone’s pics too easily without it being a giant megathread, I’ve just merely uploaded everything into a simple imgbox gallery for the time being, for easy viewing access:

With all the work you guys have put into your pics as teams, I’d rather you post your collabs on your own pages, so that people are able to easily give you the comments and likes and reblogs you deserve. And that way, you are better able to explain your creations and tributes than I probably can. You know I’ll definitely reblog them all.

However, I will give a quick rundown of everyone who entered. Again, we started with 38 groups, and technically, only 25 survived. That included one pulling double-duty as a backup artist for two people who lost their partners, one who found their own backup partner, and one person who still submitted a solo pic, despite their partner having to drop out. But I still want to showcase what was sent in to me, even if it wasn’t a true collab. Solo pics are noted. 

Again, we had two categories that people had the choice of drawing for. The first category was the standard 30th anniversary celebration. The second category was a mashup of your favorite Megaman moments/games/etc, with characters from different games or series in them. This category got pretty creative, and I must say, was really fun to see! Can you figure out all the original moments without any commentary on them? Three groups drew for both categories. 

This was really in no particular order, but uploaded based off the filename. So it’s alphabetical by a username in places, but also not, if files were named differently. ^^; Anyhow, here’s our group reveal, in order of the gallery uploads:

Now there’s also the business of a little raffle giveaway I promised, too. I wasn’t planning on doing anything that major, but I had a few surprises to thank those who played along with this collab experiment. Excluding myself, of course, everyone was assigned a number. Our good friend Protodude pulled some numbers out of a hat for me, and I have 4 lucky people who are going to come away with a prize!

As always, it’s so fun to see the creativity in your work, and you all should be proud of being able to work together to create something cool. Despite all of us probably procrastinating and only getting that big motivation push once Megaman 11 was announced (or was that just me?), you made it, and did an awesome job!

Now I have around 2 weeks to scramble to get the Valentine’s Day contest up and running! Ahhhhhhh! It’s already new contest season!!!!

Once again, I had a lot of fun coming up with an idea featuring one of my favorite ships! I’m really happy with the result; I loved drawing some cute robot bees.

And I had even more fun looking at everyone’s entries, they’re all so good!

2017 Megaman Valentine’s Day Contest: Humor Category Winners and Art (*Image Overload*)

And finally, getting around to the last part of this massive 10th anniversary celebration, we end with the Humor Category results.

This year’s theme was “Girouette and Shooting Star Rockman’s Romantic Delivery Service.” In which entrants had to come up with their own funny delivery of romantic gifts, along with a company slogan to sell those services.

We had a total of 18 entries for this category, another delightfully wonderful showing! As always, with humor it can be a bit subjective, and the quality of your drawings are an added bonus, but all of these entries are guaranteed to give you a hearty laugh or chuckle, and maybe tug on your heart strings, too! As is common with this category, comics seem to be the in-thing, and some of these entries are quite extensive.

Just like the Talent entries, I’ll reveal the Top 3 winners first, and then the remaining entries will be after the cut. Again, thanks to @annamariacoppi for help with judging. Commentary from at least one of us on your art will also be seen below.

Each artist’s name will link to a (hopefully) larger version I’ve uploaded, that will work until you guys upload your art on your own pages, followed by their tumblr handle or deviantArt page, if applicable. If a link is broken or I screwed up somewhere, let me know. This was a lot to verify!

AnnaMaria said: One of the few I actually laughed out loud while reading. I love the quirky and simple drawings! It helps sell the jokes. The whole thing was very sweet and charming! I especially like Dr Wily randomly popping in telling her to go away, as if he constantly does that whenever he sees her.

Miyabi said: Nothing says love like a pit of spikes on your card. While there are probably just as many cutesy tender moments as their are jokes and gags, overall, I felt this was the most complete and strongest entry of the bunch. From Ice Man getting trolled, to ‘get off my lawn’ Wily, you can’t help but smile from panel to panel!

Gotta wonder after all these years, despite it almost finally happening here, will they ever have a meaningful moment together outside of dreamland?

3.) Papillon the Pirate (@papillonthepirate​) - Curry of Love:

Miyabi said: I love the thought of Yahoot’s print ad with roses and curry bringing in the business, and the rest of the WWW delivering it and a cheesy singing telegram message in Cupid outfits! To me, this was one of the more creative takes on the category guidelines. Netto is so oblivious to who the curry is from, yet he can remember Match tried to burn his house! LOL

Since I feel like the way I’m going, the full results post won’t be posted until after midnight, I wanted to at least get the participation raffle prize winners announced before it gets any later in the evening. It’s late enough for some.

In the event that any of these winners change their minds and don’t want the prize their name was drawn for, I have a backup drawn just in case. Since I was clear on what you had selected for your chosen raffle prizes and put that spreadsheet up, I don’t think there will be people denying their win, but I wanted to be safe.

All names were added to a random name generator at random.org. If you had bonus chances, your name was added to the list that many additional times, and the first name listed after they were randomized was the winner.

Alphyne week 9, Day 3

Prompt: City

Rating: G

One great thing Alphys liked about where their apartment’s location was its proximity to downtown of the big city they lived in. They lived on the outskirt of the city so it felt like being in a quiet suburb yet it only took half an hour using public transit to get downtown.

Alphys was always nervous going out as there always was so many people roaming downtown, no matter what time of day (or night) it was. Monsters weren’t exactly the most common of sights yet so they were often looked at, getting mostly curious stares, which made Alphys uncomfortable. Undyne on the other hand barely seemed to notice the attention every time and kept happily chatting with Alphys.

As nervous as going downtown made her, Alphys went regularly. Internet shopping was one thing, but going in a store and finding the brand new volume of her favorite series was something else. So she and Undyne planned frequent shopping trips where they would spend an afternoon visiting their favorite shops and then stopping in whichever small coffee shop was around

Every time they sat down face to face with their drinks, Undyne would take Alphys’ hand and smile gently at her and every time, this was Alphys’ favorite moment of the day.

Alphyne week 9, Day 1 (a bit late on this but it sounded fun so I wanted to try writing some stuff)

Prompt: Anniversary

The setting sun casted a golden glow in the currently empty apartment they were visiting. Alphys looked up but couldn’t see the expression on Undyne’s face. Did she hear things? Undyne usually spoke so loudly that Alphys could not believe the quiet question that seemed to have escaped Undyne’s lips. Silence weighted heavily upon the pair until Alphys decided to ask.

“W-w-wait are y-you s-s-suggesting…”

“I’m not too good with words” Undyne started before Alphys could finish “and I know we’ve been dating for only a few weeks but yes I’m asking if you want to come live here with me. I love you so much and I don’t want to wait any longer”

Undyne turned around to face Alphys, her face a deep shade of red with a very nervous smile. This was the first time (but certainly not the last!) Undyne told Alphys “I love you” out loud. Alphys stared directly into her girlfriend’s eyes. She felt incredibly warm all over and knew her skin was probably matching the color of Undyne’s blush. The small lizard tried to speak but the words got caught in her throat. So instead she replied by wrapping her hands on the back of Undyne’s neck and pulling her into a deep kiss.

 This was exactly a year ago. Alphys was now standing in the same apartment but it was no longer empty. It was now filled with their belongings and on the walls were several pictures of them together (as well as some anime and game posters here and there of course). Alphys was pacing back and forth, waiting for Undyne to come back from work. She wondered if Undyne remembered what day it was today. She also wondered if maybe she was doing a bit too much. They had already celebrated their relationship anniversary not long ago yet she also wanted to celebrate their moving in together anniversary.

Before Alphys could rethink her plan through and put away the diner candles and turn off the romantic music, she heard keys getting inserted into the front door. Undyne opened the door and was in visible shock.

“Oh what’s all this about sweetheart?” she asked, giving her girlfriend an affectionate peck on the cheek.

“It might be sound silly but there’s another anniversary I want to celebrate” Alphys meekly replied.

Undyne squeezed Alphys in for a tight hug and started laughing.

“W-what’s so funny?” Alphys asked, embarrassed.

“I’m just happy you remembered, Alphy” At that, Undyne opened her bag and took out a gorgeous bouquet of red roses. “I got these for you” she added, grinning as wide as she could.

  After that night, Alphys never hesitated again to plan a celebration, big or small, for all the days she felt were important. And each time, she was delighted to find that Undyne also had the same idea in mind.

My girlfriend had trouble with her tablet drivers and after I got everything working I tested the material. @papillonthepirate dared me to publish this work of art. Well, here you go love!

I managed to find and purchase an official Dr.Wily playset and because we are mature adults in this household this is how my friends and I have set it up. Light robots in my laboratory?!? More likely than you think!

I wanted to start offering more than just button commission so I put together a new commission guide with the kind of things I can make. I would really appreciate if anyone wants to share it and get the word out. Some quick info: All prices are in Canadian dollar. I ship out completed traditional work and shipping is always 10$ flat done via Canada Post. I can be contacted either here via IM or at papillonthepirate@yahoo.ca. I can do characters from existing franchises or original characters. I also have an Etsy under the same user name and anything there can be combined with commission work in one shipment. Behold: this year’s summer contest entry! And boy it was a doozy. I redid everything once the infamous trailer was released, the game hit the shelves, and, well….you know the rest. It was important for me to keep this entry as good-natured as possible, for all of the Mega Man fans and MN9 backers. It’s been a rough summer for some of you! If this entry cheered anyone up, then I did my job. 

A little Tango I drew for the Mega Man Collab. Took me forever to finish because life kept getting in the way.

The art of third wheeling.

Robots!! I was at a Robotics event yesterday and took some pictures of the cutest robots there (like all of them). These were all built by high school and college students in my province for the event. They had to participate in games like capturing pool noodles and little obstacle courses. They were all really well made and fantastic!

It always bothered me in Mega Man X2 that if you miss even one Zero part he can’t be rebuilt. Like, is Dr.Cain really telling me he can’t rebuild him without legs, is his brain located in his crotch or what?
