and their remedies
hello!
i’ve been writing a lot of haikus, so i’m gonna start posting some of them here!
:)
"Old friend" is a gayass thing to call someone
the last of the eclipse haikus. from 4/8/24. clearly this day was very inspiring to me.
this is the first image i've created with deep dream generator. i like it so far! it took a few generations to get to this one but i like how it turned out.
when youre in a fandom that is known for being fucking annoying and youre ashamed of it but you still like the thing
i am still, quiet
and yet I always still say
it’s somehow my fault
i finished this a while ago and never got around to posting it until now, my bad lol
i'm really happy with the way this one turned out!! the anatomy is a little scuffed in some places, and there's some other technical bits that are incorrect, but it just has a vibe 🤌 y'know? bgsdgdgn
this was my description i used in my college application portfolio, thought id share it!
This drawing, like many others, was one of those images that wouldn't leave my mind. A painter, sitting distraught in front of an empty canvas. The struggle of creation is an idea that intrigues me to no end, mostly because it's a struggle I deal with daily, but also because I find it extremely vulnerable. There is nothing closer to a person's expression of their soul than the art they make. And like in my piece "artist's glare," (this is what I titled that blue period drawing of yatora from a while back) the focus is not on the artwork itself, but on the artist as they make it.
This illustration is also autobiographical, I myself am not a painter, but after a night of spiraling through who I wanted to be as an artist and what kind of art I wanted to create, I finally caved and drew what I was feeling. After working on it for a while I took a step back and realized that I felt healed. This was the kind of art I wanted to make, art that could heal, art that could express myself.
Rainbow Axolotls (2023)
Acrylic paints on 11" x 14" wood panel. The one on the top is an example of the "wild-type" coloration, and the bottom one is supposed to be the albino coloration (obviously with a rainbow overtop!)
The axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is a fully aquatic salamander closely related to the tiger salamander. They are critically endangered in the wild, with most of the population existing in captivity. The axolotl is native only to the freshwater of Lake Xochimilco in Mexico. They are popular in the pet trade and also for use as laboratory animals. They are an excellent example of neotony, where the animal reaches adulthood while retaining juvenile characteristics. In the case of the Axolotl, they retain their gills, which most salamander species lose upon becoming adults.
