I'm reminded that one of the first lessons I learned as a forum moderator in the early 00's was "some people only want to know who the targets are". Doesn't matter if the rules are "don't be a dick", seventeen pages of legalese, or anything inbetween: there are always folk who really, really want to hurt someone. When told to stop they just want to know "if I can't hurt them, then who am I allowed to hurt? Must be someone, surely."

Sometimes I stumble across a particular species of queer discourse post on this site and I get a vivid mental image of the OP paging through an enormous rulebook with furrowed brow muttering "come on, there must be someone I'm allowed to be homophobic to".

im watching a little doc on youtube about an 11th century castle, and theres a bit where they are talking to a group of older women who are working on a large hand embroidered tapestry commemorating its nearly 1000 years of history & into the modern era.. and off on the border they show a bit where the women have stitched themselves working on it into the piece itself, and it made me kinda emotional

how amazing to have a visual depiction of the women who spent literal years painstakingly stitching such a wonderful piece of art that historically would have gone uncredited

They're implementing a new rule where if you discuss "sensitive social issues" at all you have to flag your streams as such, these issues include things like war and political unrest but also any lgbtq topics (once again our existence is political).

Essentially a streamer will have to choose between never ever mentioning anything queer (or even just discussing their own life if they're queer themselves) or flagging every stream with "sensitive social issues" and scaring away 90% of viewers.
