It's a wip wednesday and this week's word for word game wednesday is blink so. This is a little snippet from a thing I started writing on a whim a long time ago that I might never finish but still wanted to share it

Cw: depressed state, omegaverse

The mug filled with tea clinked softly when he placed it down on the table. Dick didn’t look up at him, didn’t thank him with a smile like he normally would. He just kept staring into space, with a hand unconsciously placed on his stomach.

”Your tea, little bird.” Slade said gently.

He took a seat next to Dick, close enough that their thighs touched. When Dick still didn’t move, Slade pressed a kiss to the mating bite on his neck and only then Dick shuddered slightly, blinking a few times.

”Slade,” he breathed out when he realized his mate was back with him in the room. ”What is it?”

”I brought you some tea, baby” Slade rumbled, lips still against his skin. He let out a bit of his protective scent, trying to hide how worried he was feeling deep inside. It was normal. It happened after every heat and it was the most normal thing but that still didn’t stop Slade from hating it.

Dick nuzzled under his jaw, scenting him back. His scent was a bit sour with sadness and grief but Slade didn’t mind it at all. It will pass, in a few days. Maybe even tomorrow, if they’re lucky.

”Thank you.” The omega whispered. He reached for the mug but didn’t drink from it. Instead he just held it in his hands and kept staring at the wall, lost in his thoughts.

Slade felt sick.
