A Friend Bought Me A Colouring Book.

This analysis made perfect sense to me. I had never thought of it that way, but it makes sense.

the episode "metamorphosis" is hurtful to me bc of its misogyny, heterosexism and overall narrow-minded ideas about gender, but there are still some things in it i enjoy; one of it being the similarities between the companion and spock.

The Episode "metamorphosis" Is Hurtful To Me Bc Of Its Misogyny, Heterosexism And Overall Narrow-minded

like the companion, spock is (part, at least) alien and thus somewhat hard to grasp for the human minds around him.

one of my favorite aspects of tos is the way kirk is always so interested in what spock does and doesn't feel; it's as if those moments are only half about teasing spock and the other half of it is kirk's genuine wonder about spock's inner life and his experiences.

everybody who's seen tos knows about how spock always claims to be a 100% logical being, incapable of any emotion, which of course isn't actually the truth. he wants to believe that, and he wants others to believe it too, but it's only bc he feels shame for his human (emotional) side. spock has some character development later on (in the movies) but throughout tos he's more or less completely committed to being (or to appearing to be) a perfect, logical vulcan, who ignores, denies or suppresses his own emotional tendencies and frequently condemns the emotional tendencies of others as well.

The Episode "metamorphosis" Is Hurtful To Me Bc Of Its Misogyny, Heterosexism And Overall Narrow-minded

all this certainly makes this speech about love made by kirk in the same episode seem pretty ambiguous and sad:

The Episode "metamorphosis" Is Hurtful To Me Bc Of Its Misogyny, Heterosexism And Overall Narrow-minded

but luckily for kirk, spock will of course in the future undergo a sort of transformation similar to that of the companion in this episode--only right now it's still too early; spock isn't there yet. he still describes himself as being "split in two halves that are constantly at war with one another"; basically the exact opposite of how the companion views herself after achieving the same status of being both alien and human:

The Episode "metamorphosis" Is Hurtful To Me Bc Of Its Misogyny, Heterosexism And Overall Narrow-minded

there were a handful of scenes in this ep that all reminded me of spock in the motion picture finally confronting the illogical, emotional, human part of himself.

The Episode "metamorphosis" Is Hurtful To Me Bc Of Its Misogyny, Heterosexism And Overall Narrow-minded

the companion even asks about love being possible as a human and then near the end proclaims that she has now become human, which reminded me of spock in the motion picture starting out wanting to shed all his emotions but then throughout the story in a way "becoming human" as well through the discovery that "logic isn't enough"; that he doesn't really want a life without feelings and thus accepting the fact that he always has been human as well as vulcan.

... oh and btw the companion's initial way of communicating is reminiscent of the vulcan mind meld too... some crazy shit!

TL;DR spock is a cool character and him and kirk are in love.

I suspect the guys who created the poster didn’t know that they did not create the name. I wonder who owns the copyright on the name. If you haven’t read Ishmael you should. I love that novel.

IT'S CANON!!!! S'CHN T'GAI SPOCK IS CANON!!!!!!

IT'S CANON!!!! S'CHN T'GAI SPOCK IS CANON!!!!!!

Originally from Barbara Hambly's fantastic novel Ishmael (the unauthorised Star Trek/Here Come the Brides crossover)

Subject: What? You want WHAT?

We appreciate the notion that science is the new sexy, though we’re not sure how those things correlate. We tried to come up with material - that we also deem appropriate for publishing - that would fit your requirement of tall, dark and handsome in regards to pictures of Commander Spock.

Sincerely

If they had got paid residuals they likely wouldn’t have come to all those conventions. Their loss was our gain.

Can You Imagine If The TOS Cast Had Gotten Residuals As Well As Money From Merchandising, Etc. All Those

Can you imagine if the TOS cast had gotten residuals as well as money from merchandising, etc. all those years (like actors do nowadays)? They wuz robbed.

I Read This Line And My Heart Just About Stopped. If This Isn’t The Most Spirk Line In The Universe

I read this line and my heart just about stopped. If this isn’t the most Spirk line in the universe I don’t know what is. From the book “The Price of the Phoenix”.
