An archon and a Khaenri'an citizen. It was a love sorry that unfolded despite it being forbidden. A tale to be told by history, eventually being passed on as a fairytale to the younger generation.

Zhongli sighed as he listened to the retelling of the story for what seemed to be the millionth time. He was disappointed at how the story slowly got lost in translation, and was almost close to correcting whoever told the story.

Your eyes weren't whatever color they were saying, they were a beautiful [E/C]. He's had enough of people getting your appearance wrong, and he was getting fed up with it. He placed the teacup down and walked away from the Third Round Knockout, going to Qingyun Peak to clear his head.

An archon and a Khaenri'an.

Two lovers who weren't ever meant to be.

Zhongli looked over Liyue before a frown settled into his face. He found himself longing for your presence once again, wanting to feel your arms around him. He wanted to give you a warm embrace, wanted to apologize for letting you go the way he did and apologize for doing what he did.

He wanted to go back to the time where it was peaceful and it was just you and him that existed.

As if you weren't fated to die in the first place.

As a god, there wasn't much Morax does in his spare time other than hunt down those who dare trespass in his land. He left all the complicated stuff to his friend, Guizhong, who was more than happy to do so. He listened to the prayers of his followers, and was surprised when he heard a voice he had never heard before.

"Morax? I've never heard of him before, tell me more!" He heard the voice say. He couldn't distinguish the gender of whoever said it, but it didn't matter much to him. Morax tried to ignore the urge of wanting to find the person who said it, only to end up giving in anyway and hunting down whoever it was out of his curiosity.

It wasn't long after when he found you.

You were sitting in a field of grass, with the occasional flowers present with a book in hand talking to someone else by your side. He tilted his head curiously, finding the primordial crystalline gem pattern all over you. It seemed to be a recurring design.

Suddenly, you looked up and stared at him in the eye before breaking out in a bright smile. "Oh, hello there! I didn't see you… was there anything you needed from me perhaps?"

He couldn't say anything. The pattern that he saw on your clothes was present in your eye as well. You were absolutely beautiful, you seemed straight out of a greek deity painting and with your uniqueness Morax found himself doubting which one of you was the god and the mortal.

"Excuse me?" Your voice snapped him out of his trance and caused him to shake his head lightly. He didn't know why, but he couldn't say anything in front of you. "That's alright, hm, Dain? If you don't mind, would it be alright for you to leave us alone? I'd like to spend time with this lovely gentleman."

The man who was accompanying you seemed hesitant to leave your side, eyeing Morax apprehensively as if he was more than aware of who he truly was. "Alright, but be sure to call out my name if you need any help."

Morax took his seat beside you, and soon the both of you melted and started talking with each other. You both found yourselves enjoying each other's company, and unanimously decided that this meadow was going to be your spot now. You met him there nearly every single day, and when you couldn't because of your duties, you would send Dain just as Morax would send one of his adepti.

A little after you both met, Morax asked you to be his lover, and you were more than glad to agree. When you heard of his ascension to being an archon, you were delighted for him!

However, due to his ascension, Morax found himself slowly drifting away from you, purposefully avoiding you because of what Celestia had told him would happen if he didn't. However, he greatly underestimated your persistence and your love for each other. Despite knowing that he would most definitely outlive your mortal life, you embraced him with welcome arms.

"I'm glad we met." You kissed him that day, the two of you basking in each other's presence. Anyone could see that you were deeply in love with each other, if Morax's smile didn't say enough, that is.

"What's got you in such a good mood?" You laughed as Morax walked closer to you with a lovesick smile on his face.

"You, darling." Morax hugged you close and tight, as if he was scared that it was the last day the two of you were ever going to be in each other's arms. "I am so, so deeply in love with you."

"As am I." You sighed and leaned into his embrace.

You were happy.

But not for long.

You stared at Morax in betrayal as you held a fellow Khaenri'an's dead body in your arms. Your heart broke when you saw that he no longer acknowledged you as his lover, he was looking at you like some parasite that needed to be rid of.

"How could you do this?" Your words were said in a whisper, looking down as you couldn't stand to look at him in the eyes any longer. "After all that we've been through? I thought…"

"You thought." Morax held his spear tightly in his hand, begging himself to stop and apologize to the love of your life. "I did love you. I loved you more than I was ever supposed to."

"And how much were you supposed to love me?"

"I wasn't."

A tear escaped your eye as you were beheaded by your very own lover. When Morax finally escaped Celestia's tight leash on him when he was destroying Khaenri'ah, he desperately went through the ruins to find your body. "Where are you, where are you, where are you—"

He dropped to his knees at the sight of your head a few meters away from your body. He took it and desperately held it in his arms as if doing that would make it any better. That day, he mourned and grieved the loss of the light of his life.

To this day, it pained him to think about how he killed his own lover, and whenever he looked at his arms he's always tempted to chop them off as a payment for your blood on his hands. Not even dying would forgive him of the sins that he has committed at this point.

Zhongli would never forget the look of pain and betrayal present in your face when you saw that it was him and the rest of the archons disrupting Khaenri'ah's peace and wreaking havoc in the place.

He murdered you in the same place he first met you.

Turned your sanctuary into a bloodshed.

He was a terrible being.

"Forgive yourself. It's been years since the incident. I get it now, it wasn't your fault, my love." A hand was placed on his shoulder and he looked behind only to tear up at the sight of your smiling visage.

He blinked and suddenly you were gone.

That day, Zhongli once again shed his tears for you.

He placed a hand on the gravestone he made himself, smiling sadly. "You are right… it is time for me to move forward."

Your ghost smiled at the sight of Zhongli finally letting you go, before disappearing with the gust of a wind.

"I'm glad we met."

today (27 Jan) is International Holocaust Memorial Day, so I've compiled a list of charities you can donate to which help to preserve European Jewish culture as well as supporting living Jewish communities, especially in Eastern Europe, as a way to honour victims of the Holocaust both by preserving their memory and by supporting the European Jewish communities that the Nazis aimed to destroy.

- YIVO; founded in Vilne, Lithuania in 1925 and now based in New York, is one of the largest organisations for the preservation and education of Yiddish, as well as hosting the largest archive of Eastern European Jewish materials (23 million items) - including many which were rescued from Nazi book-burning by Jewish resistance. It is the ONLY prewar Jewish library and archive to have survived the Holocaust.

- World Jewish Relief, formed during the Holocaust by the UK Jewish community to aid the evacuation of German Jews. The majority of their modern day work focuses on aiding vulnerable Jewish communities in Eastern Europe. They also provide aid to refugees, disabled and elderly people, and respond to international disasters across the world.

- The Yiddish Book Centre hosts an online archive of hundreds of digitised Yiddish books (many with translations), as well as a video oral history archive with 1000+ Jewish people of all ages and backgrounds telling their own stories, many in Yiddish (with subtitles). They also train new Yiddish translators and run lectures, education programs, film screenings, music festivals, and the world's first Yiddish museum.

- The Together Plan supports post-Soviet Jewish communities, especially in Belarus due to the current instability there. As well as supporting Jewish communities with aid, education, and community building; they also record and translate Holocaust testimonies, preserve Jewish graveyards, and run education on Jewish Belarus.

- The European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative works to preserve and restore Jewish cemeteries, particularly in countries whose Jewish populations were decimated by the Holocaust, which left cemeteries to be vandalised and fall into decay. This is an important act in honouring the dignity of the dead, as well as witnessing and preserving the presence of lost European Jewish life.
