ngl I just took my glasses off and kinda went wild with it lol

I think the biggest challenge was the background, fully blurry it just looked out of place, but when I tried adding raindrops they turned out to be too much

I like how this turned out and it was quite a lot of fun to make :D (probably not gonna use this technique often tho)

so, let's start with the thing that gave me most trouble: colour choices :,D

going in I knew from the text that her clothes would be primarily pink with purple and yellow accents, but also I envisioned her with pink hair and skin that looks quite pink, but can pass off as just a normal skintone. now, as you might've noticed, while the skin does fit that idea (at least I hope), the hair doesn't. and that's because I just couldn't make it look good :,). I played around with the options quite a lot, but it just kept bouncing around between "that looks overwhelmingly pink in a bad way" and "I somehow managed to design a demonic version of pinkie pie by accident yet again" (I mean, with the latter I guess it would've been fine, but when I tried out golden hair I liked it waaaaay more). so I decided to lean into her hair being more golden and even tried matching it to her eyes >:3 (not 1 to 1 obv, but I aimed for both kinda having glowing effect to them). and since I cannot stop coming up with lore whenever I do designs, I reasoned that maybe she kinda shows her status even through her hair. because even if she's standing with her back to you and you can't see her eyes, your gaze will still be met with that golden yellow. the rest of the colours kinda came intuitively, I just had to play around with brightness and saturation a bit lol

now, next up. the horns :). I remember the text describing her as having "horns too tall, teeth too sharp" and I might've taken that a bit too seriously lol. I think they're about as tall as her head? but also they don't look overwhelmingly tall (at least to me), which I really like. from the moment I first imagined her I knew I wanted her horns to kinda be more ornate, with them splitting into different sections and going different ways. and I think I did pretty well at that. and again, to make up lore where there wasn't any given, I feel like she'd try to set herself apart from and higher than other demons even through appearance. that includes horns. because as far as I can tell, even if some demons choose to wear jewelry on their horns, it's not many (maybe it's cost-related idk). so maybe she sees horns as part of the "animalistic nature of demons" and sets herself apart from it and most demons by adorning them. I also added the kinda teardrop shaped gems to kinda show her silently saying "if you go against me that's what your blood is gonna look like :)"

now some miscellaneous parts :D !

starting with the teeth. I fr went "oh they're sharp?" *gives shark teeth* (although I'm now imagining her like a shark with several rows of them and omg). I do imagine her showing them as intimidation tactic most of the time except when she's trying to play being more innocent than she is.

next up is the dagger. I'm not sure if this classifies as a kris, but that's the only wavy dagger I could find. I remember seeing her described as "a dagger coated in honey" and decided that this is gonna be her weapon of choice (although if I'm gonna continue with that line of thought Two is gonna give me one hell of a time, my only guess for now doesn't really suit his personality :,) ). and it's wavy because I imagine that'd be a lot more painful and do a lot more damage this way (I imagine that out of the big three she is the one who'd deal with interrogations and stuff)

and finally the tattoo. ngl it came to my mind rather randomly, but I like the thought of the Big Three having their numbers on their bodies (although ngl I have NO idea where it'd be for Three)

do you really believe scott “gave” pearl a win? like seriously? pearl got a quad kill on everyone else who was left but them. in any other series she won right there. she would have killed scott with her dogs. he didn’t give her anything except the headache of the fandom constantly invalidating her win. if letting yourself die so another person can win means you gave it to them, scar got given his win too. good art but ruined by that detail.

ah, I had a feeling my wording would be misinterpreted. I fully believe she deserved that win, through and through. the "gave" part comes in more in lore sense than anything I guess? every other winner took out the 2nd place themselves, but scott didn't give her the option to, so I just decided to put that as a detail, even gave scott a matching eye, which imo should indicate that "given" the win or not, they're ALL equal winners to me, I just liked the concept

but I struggle with wording in general and when I wrote the post I was very tired, so I can't really blame anyone for misunderstanding my ramblings lol

FINALLY managed to make a design I actually like, it took me months I think ;-;

anyway here's my insight:

mostly what's been bugging me about my designs is how the cape would make it less interesting, but there have been other on-spot changes too for example, the hairstyle. idk if anyone noticed, but the hairstyle I give to her depends on the context (so if it's siitw it's short and fluffy and if it's just hc it tends to be long and straight, but honestly it depends on the season lol). and here I was debating on what hairstyle to give her when I went "wait, why not AURORA's hairstyle since running with the wolves is the song I associate with her the most", but I made it wavy from other miscellaneous changes, she now has stars on the ends of shoelaces cuz I thought it'd be cool and moon hairpins for the same reason

this one will actually be relevant even beyond this post cuz I've had the winners have necklaces with their symbols for a while now, but I think I never actually posted anything that would actually show that ajhjdsjgsafkg

and last but not least, a headcannon I came up with pretty much on the spot: under certain circumstances (don't ask what those are) "freckles" that depict the stars in the sky show up and along with her left eye glow purple (normally for a winner both eyes would glow, but since the win was "given" to her it's only one (hopefully I'll make Scott's design soon, but if I don't - for him only his right eye glows))

feels kinda refreshing going from watching wild life finale where I was pretty much rooting for a specific winner to mcc party where I was watching pink parrots with full faith they wouldn't make it to the dodgeball part, very relaxing

although I did start very much rooting for orange by the end there, but still, it was a lot of fun and very chill

I call this "Improvise, Adapt, overcome"

ngl at this point I've forgotten what it feels like hunting down the winner POV (watched in the order of Impulse -> Etho -> Joel)

and yeah, I'm a bit sad that Impulse didn't win, BUT!!! still very happy for Joel! he was actually one of my 2 top picks for Secret Life phphph (the other one was Gem)

I'm losing my mind over here

okay, so I needed some references for something and went to namemc to look at Gem's skin

"Oh cool, she's matching hoodies with Pearl and Scott" I thought and almost went on my marry way

but then I decided to also check out Martyn's skin since I also kinda need references for him

"Huh" I thought, "maybe he switched to it during session 7? I haven't watched his POV so I've got no idea"

but then I looked at the time and date he used it

it was for the recording of session 8

fuelled by my curiosity I went on checking on other people, first of which was Pearl

my brain started coming up with angst scenarios (Pearl and Impulse are my winners POV pick lol)

but then I noticed that like 2 minutes later (if I saw it right) she was back to her red skin???

and she wasn't the only one, from which I remember people like Scott and Scar also went from gray to red

which brings me to my question

what in the hell is gonna be this session

From their user and profile its clear that they are not part of this community, and there's a glaring link underneath the stolen post. I checked their profile, and they're staging as a news blog with a dodgy link in their bio. Please do not click it!! First rule of the internet, but please report them, especially since they're stealing posts and claiming them as their own.

tbh I don't know much of her lore due to the fact that I've mostly watched csmp through Rat's videos, so I didn't know what creature to make her (most I've got is like, the wet cat allegations and moth association due to the moth lantern thingy from the end of aforementioned video)

so I decided to go off of what inklings remind me of, which is the warden. and the warden for me is associated with axolotls

so here you go! I've actually been working on another piece ever since I saw Rat's video (which I might as well call the real minecraft movie at this point lol), which was like a day after it got released. but it's been giving me so much trouble I think I might restart it again

also as for the animatic stuff, I moved the deadline to "we'll see how long it takes" cuz it turns out I made a grave error in my calculations, so the previous schedule was literally impossible to pull off

I just finished watching Pearl's session 2 POV and I just realized something

Pearl kind of takes after Scott in a way

I'm specifically talking about Scott's ally blessing. at the end of her video she was talking to Impulse and was explaining how this time she wants him to win. and it's not even the first time she's helped someone else win, she offered her life to Scar back in Secret Life. and people (including me) say that it was Scott's blessing that helped Scar, but what if Pearl had to do with it also?

I've had a theory for a while that every Life Series curse and blessing has 2 aspects to it. the canary curse means the bearer dies first AND right before many other deaths follow. the ally blessing means the recipient wins AND dies. so what if the blessing is now split between 2 players? after all, in Secret Life Scott was Gem's ally first and foremost, only being allied with Scar for a very short time. he wasn't even on the same side as Scar in the zombie apocalypse. but Pearl was. Pearl went into finale by his side. so according to this theory Scott's part (ensuring the ally dies) worked on Gem and Pearl's part (ensuring the ally wins) worked on Scar

Scott died for his soulmate, so his part is the death. Pearl saw her soulmate die for her, so her part is protection until the win

so yeah, Impulse was one of my picks for the win even before session 1 videos were released, but now he's pretty much my top 1 pick

I sleep, work on it, take occasional breaks, go sleep and repeat all over again

Normally I don't reblog, but this whole situation with content creators getting hate makes me so sad and angry, and this is a pretty good way to combat that. I know that leaving comments can be scary. Hell, I only started commenting very recently, I was too anxious before. But as long as you're nice you'll be fine.

The videos they make are a gift, we aren't owed anything. If content creators stop having fun doing them, there won't be any more of it. So let's be kind and stop hating on people just having fun and sharing it with us.

Introducing: The Life Series Comment-a-thon

In light of several of the content creators involved mentioning negative comments on Wild Life, Secret Life, and Life Series videos in general, I want to suggest an event that encourages people to leave positive comments on life series videos as well!

The life series has some of the kindest and most supportive people I have ever encountered in fandom, and I think the creative minds behind the series deserve to get some of that love too. There is no starting or finishing day to this event, as the intention is for fans to leave kind comments highlighting what they love about Wild Life and the Life Series in general, over the course of the current season. I have devised a total of eight weekly comment prompts, making an educated guess as to how long the season will be based off previous season, intended to encourage you to leave a comment on at least one video per week.

There is no time limit or minimum word count for comments. Just be kind, be honest, and don’t tear other creators down in the process of trying to build others up (“[X creator] is so overrated, people should be watching you instead”, “you deserved to win so much more than [Y creator]”, etc.). Without further ado, The Life Series Comment-a-thon:

Week 1: comment on at least one video telling the creator that you liked the video!

Week 2: pick a team/alliance, then tell at least one person in that alliance that you are really enjoying the dynamic of their team/them collaborating with the other member(s) of the team.

Week 3: tell a new member or one who skipped one or more seasons (Gem who joined last season, Ren, Mumbo, Lizzie, Skizz, and Bdubs who all either missed or did not originally post their POVs of a season) that you are happy they are on the life series.

Week 4: Most of the creators involved in the life series are male, but we know that those who are not get a larger share of the negative comments. This week pick one of them (Lizzie, Pearl, Gem, and Cleo) and tell them that you enjoy their video/their content/etc!

Week 5: leave a comment on someone’s video mentioning at least one specific thing you enjoyed about their episode/their season.

Week 6: pick a person whose videos you have not yet commented on in this event and leave them a comment saying you look forward to their episodes every week/season.

Week 7: write a short, positive comment (e.g “I loved this episode” , “this was great” , “keep up the good work”) and leave it on every POV you watch this week.

Week 8: leave a comment on someone’s video mentioning at least three specific thing you enjoyed about their episode/their season. Alternatively pick three videos to leave one specific compliment on.

Week 9+: repeat one of the previous week prompts, or better yet combine two or more! You can pick yourself, use an eight-sided die, or a random number generator to decide for you.

I know commenting can be scary and that it can be hard to find the words. At the end of the post, beneath the the read-more cut, I have a list of suggestions for what you can bring up in a comment. Just below this you will also find a list of things you can do to let the content creators know that you love their art that are not commenting!

Other things you can do:

Like ten comments on a lifer’s video

Like every video you watch

Watch a video from one of the less popular content creators (subscriber wise, or within the fandom) on the day it comes out

And most importantly:

Reblog this post and/or repost it to other social media platforms to spread the word of the comment-a-thon!

A list of questions to spark comment ideas:

Did a joke make you laugh?

Did you catch them making a reference to another season, SMP, or piece of media?

Did the creator interact with someone in a way you enjoyed?

What made the interaction stand out?

Did they build something you thought was pretty?

What part did you like best: the shape, the blocks they chose to use, how it ties into their season, or how it ties into the terrain around it?

If they have a new skin, what is your favourite part of it?

Did they use background music in a way you thought was especially fitting? In what way?

Did a change from one scene to the next feel very well-timed, smooth, or narratively fitting?

If you did not notice any scene changes or cuts, can you think of something the creator did to make you feel immersed in the story of the video instead of the video making itself?

What do you hope happens next? (be sure to tell them that whether it happens or not you still look forward to watching the rest of their season)

Did something surprise you?

Did the content creator say or do something that made you have a new idea?

Did you learn something new about minecraft?

I've watched about more than half POVs so far and I swear, Scar is talking about seeing stuff SO MUCH. coming across the B.E.T. team mining and taunting them about how they should "look around better", pointing out how the mountain provides great view on spawn, "I swear I thought I saw an enderman", his goddamn cape being a black background with 2 purple eyes on it, and I'm sure there's even more I'm not remembering

I hope I succeeded in translating onto paper the warmth I wish I was feeling. it gets to like 7C here at night nowadays Q_Q

anyways, this one looks less refined than my usual stuff in a way, but I like it. hope you do too

also, I gotta say, going from Etho POV straight to Martyn POV is quite a whiplash (although I imagine it'd be much stronger the other way around)

like, team renwood mining session is chill, you know right away that they'll stick together, they talk about being old men, Martyn gives Ren a diamond unprompted (at least I don't remember Ren asking? either way it's very chill)

meanwhile there's the B.E.T. team. not only do Bdubs and Etho spend pretty much their whole time on the surface arguing like an old married couple (which also carries on to their mining session), but also their mining session is so wild. every time someone finds loot or, gods forbid, diamonds, they're on each other's THROATS. like, they're acting as if the SECOND there's back on surface they're gonna run off in separate directions

I'm watching Wild Life from Martyn's POV and I saw a detail in his skin that at first I was like "nah there's no way"

but then I checked namemc and this is what I saw
