Zack: Well, Mira and I finally did it! The rest of the squad: *gasps, shocked expressions, etc.* Zack: That's right... We kissed!
Everybody knows me differently. Some know me as a monster, while others hail me as a saint. To many I am a saviour of sorts... others tell their children scary stories of me, as a cruel villain, at night.
Many know of me, yet few know me. They call out to me, although I have no name, and sing me praises, despite their voices never reaching my ears.
Beneath rays of moonlight they pray to me and bring me offerings of flesh and metal, but I am unable to aswer their pleas and soothe their pain. Upon finding out this truth they curse me out, only to later return to me either out of fear, regret or even more greed. They lay down their short mortal lives for me, out of desire for things I cannot gift them.
For I am their god, and I am powerless.
18-year-old Daniel sprung out of bed and ran out of his home, still in his pajamas. He ran until he reached the gates of J High, then up the stairs and burst into his classroom like hell was biting at his heels. The room was empty save for one boy that always got to school early.
Jay rose from his seat, concern painting his delicate face and Daniel froze in his tracks, eyes roaming for any injuries he knew logically weren't there. He had to make sure- He had to!
"You're okay!" He breathed a sigh of unbearable relief, the with of the world now gone from his shoulders.
Jay regarded him momentarily before nodding and stepping closer to the panting boy as if to pressure him that he was alright. He didn't expect that the moment he got within reach Daniel would grab his arm and pull him into a desperate hug that he melted into. The boy's hand lingered around his neck and Jay wondered if he could feel the skin beath his touch grow warmer, thankful for once that at least his face was buried in the other's chest so that he wouldn't see him blushing. The blond waited for Danny to finish checking for whatever it was that had him in such a state, noting that with each place he searched and found unblemished his shoulders would sag more, until bit by bit he relaxed entirely.
The baffled but relieved boy cupped Jay's cheek and brought his face up and close to his, taking in the sight of him like a starved man. Finally, he gave one last sigh and angled his head so that he could rest his forehead on his. He simply reveled in the moment for a bit, pretending like he didn't hear the blonde's sharp intake of breath, before pulling back.
"I'm sorry if I scared you...I think I just had a nightmare," Daniel rasped, unwilling to cause him even more worry. Gods, I must've lost my bloody mind or something! Jay just gave him a gentle smile and nodded understandingly before motioning for his desk.
The repetitive rhythm of tic-tac-toe allowed him to contemplate that morning's events. He had acted irrationally, there was no doubt about that, but the situation hadn't left much room for cold logic, not when time had once again dripped in reverse just as he and his crew had lost their lives.
The first time it had happened he had cried out joyfully, thinking that was his second chance. Only, it hadn't turned out as he had planned. He still ended up dead, but this time he hadn't been the only one. Daniel closed his eyes and envisioned the bloody bools in which the broken bodies of his allies, his friends had laid. His stomach churned at the memory of their cold dead eyes straight right through him and the pencil in his hand snapped.
"Ah, sorry!" He distractedly apologized to his friend, who shook his head to indicate that it wasn't a big deal. Danny let his head fall onto the table with a soft thump. "I think I'm a bit more out of sorts than I realized, sorry about your pencil Jay!"
The boy reached, at first hesitantly, and pat his head lightly as if to say it didn't matter. Daniel leaned into the touch, prompting him to begin gently playing with his hair until he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Danny had, in fact, not fallen asleep just yet. He pondered more so than he had the first time how time travel worked and how it was possible that it happened twice [Oh, boy! You have no idea!]. Undoubtedly, he was thankful for this chance to right his wrongdoing. The first time he had awoken two years in the past he had been rash, eager to save people he had no business saving and in the process losing those he shouldn't have lost. The memories haunted him, but that was good! This way he wouldn't forget. This way he would never make the same mistakes twice. This way he would learn to be cautious, even if it had to be drilled into his bones!
Daniel Park made an oath to himself that autumn morning, that he wouldn't repeat his mistakes and that he wouldn't lose anyone this time. To his credit, he stuck to it. He lived a long happy life surrounded by those dear to him and put an end to any unsavory activities that could harm them. He was a hero...too bad heroes never get a happy ending~
18-year-old Daniel sprung from his bed...and froze.
It hadn't worked.
He was back.
Why was he back?!
[Daniel Park is 18 by Korean standards and 16 by U.S. standards but I used the former in this.]
He had been stupid and careless. Again. Only this time it had been someone else who had paid the price.
Hubris.
Danny thought he was untouchable. It's easy to understand why. He was a man who couldn't die, or more accurately, couldn't stay dead. There was nothing anyone could do to him to make him break, not anymore, not after he had repeated his life so many times he could tell you what would come to be in 30 years spot on.
He acted on impulse, and did things without thinking them through because what's the worse that could happen? Excessive pride had let him to provoking Eugene, using his deepest darkest secrets to threaten him, and for what? Fun?
Daniel tempted fate, forgetting that although he was not bound by it others were. His friends were. His mother was. Jay was. And although he knew that, come the next loop, they would not even recall the horrors they had suffered and their broken bodies would mend themselves as if it had all been a mere dream born of a sickened mind, it didn't mean anything to him in the end.
"No" Had been the first word that slipped past his lips when he lay eyes on the mangled corpse of his beloved.
Daniel swallowed the bile, unconsciously cataloging each injury and automatically knowing how it had been done. He knew how those injuries were done because he himself had both experienced and inflicted them on others. He stumbled, suddenly dizzy and vaguely nauseated.
Burn marks covered his darling's once fair skin, almost entirely covering the other wounds present on his torso. There were bruises. Cuts. Punctures. His face was a pale shade of gray and his lips were swollen. His love's last moments had been spent gasping for air, the torturous end deliberately prolonged for the attacker's sick entertainment. The bastards had FUCKING STRANGLED him, slowly...painfully... (cut off their hands~)
Gently, he caressed Jay's cheek and for a moment wished he could pretend that the blonde was just asleep, waiting for Danny to wake him up by peppering him with kisses. Then he took the body in his arms, carefully holding it as if it were made of glass. He took it-HIM! home and laid him on the bed with his arms crossed over his chest like ancient kings.
The funeral was a messy affair filled with sobbing and streaming and blaming. It wasn't how Jay would've wanted. It was horrible and the boy returned home quietly with a gaping hole in his heart.
It didn't take long for the numbness to fade, washed away by the raging storm of anger.
How dare those filthy maggots lay their disgusting hands on his beloved?!
Red...(More~)
Did they think they would get away with their odious actions?!
Blood...(Yes~)
He would make them pay!
Whose blood...?(More~ More~)
They deserved to suffer for their sins!
There were too many of them to count...(MORE!)
He would not forgive them for this!
It didn't matter anymore...(It didnt~)
THEY WOULD PAY!
...the blood...it didn't matter whose it was...(It didn't matter! Just bring us more!)
...
...
...
The loop reset again...It didn't matter...He would continue his mission regardless...they would pay...in blood...with their lives...again...and again...until he would be satisfied...until they learned...until-
The loop tugged at his soul in warning, coiling its dark tentacles around his neck threateningly. No more! it seemed to hiss in his ear. Enough!
Reluctantly, he obeyed.
Pity! I only got to torture them for a measly 20 loops. Well, it just means I have to get more creative! If physical torture was banned it just meant he had to mess with them in other ways. He already had plenty of ideas. After all, the mind was fun to toy with as well! (yes~)
Danny: Alright, listen up, you little shits. Danny: Not you, Jay. You’re an angel and we’re thrilled to have you here.
Zack: How do I deal with my enemies? Danny: Kill them Zack: That's a bit extreme, I was hoping for a more passive solution Danny: Kill them only a little?
As Croissant fumbled around in the dark for his beeping comm, he cursed every single one of them. Alphabetically.
No, I did not just spend over ten hours worldbuilding today! I have no idea what you mean and Campfire certainly does not have a feature that tells me so!
I need therapy and a cat...
Me walking in with my new crackship of Gun x Taehoon : I'm back
Honestly, I was just wondering how Zack and the others at J High would react to Taehoon considering his reputation and his whole persona.
Vasco would definitely pick a fight with him and seee him as a sort of mentor lol.
Also, the way you write Gun and Taehoon is really funny and I couldn't help but wheeze when I saw it - so Taegoon would be hilarious.
When Danny got a new friend who offered to train him no one batted an eye. Vasco congratulated him for making this effort to become better and that was that. Until it wasn't.
They didn't really figure it out at first. Many just thought he was an ordinary guy whose dad ran a dojo and who had dyed brown hair. Nothing too unusual. That was until Zack witnessed Danny use a 1080° kick during one of their fights with some delinquents who challenged them. He interrogated him frantically about where he had learned it and finally made the connection between his new friend and the taekwondo prodigy. (He was embarrassed about his stupidity for the rest of the day and Mira had to comfort him over the phone.)
Zack slipped and spread the news, as was expected of him, to his goons. It didn't take long for the whole school to know, and then even some of their acquaintances outside of school. When the 'Danny squad' met with him again after his identity had been revealed there was utter chaos.
"I want to fight you."
This was how Teahoon was greeted by his minion's friend, Vasco. He stared a bit at him, contemplating whether he had done something to slight him recently but before he could reply Zack piped in angrily.
"You can't just say that to people you moron! Besides....I wanted to fight him."
"Nu-uh, wait your turn dumbass." Vin Jin slapped him over the head haughtily, causing the already volatile boxer to tackle him.
"May I cut your hair?"
It wasn't a death threat, but it might as well have been. Especially with how the cotton-candy-haired boy was snapping his scissors expectantly.
Let it never be said that Taehoon Seong was a coward. At that moment, however, he decided to make a tactical retreat in a display of totally-not-cowardice and totally-yes-intelligence.
Less said, he grabbed his squirrel-faced minion a booked it with the found hell-spawns hot on his tail. (The taekwondo genius would deny to the day he died that he let out a girlish scream as he made his escape, but Danny had been lucky enough to record it for, Ahem!, research purposes.)
Sinu: Violence isn't the answer. Sammy: You’re right. Sinu: sighs in relief Sammy: Violence is the question. Sinu: What? Sammy, bolting away: And the answer is yes. Sinu, running after her: NO-
[This might be part of my AU but I haven't decided yet so...Enjoy! And thank you @leekeira for the prompt! Also, I think you can tell I had a lot of fun with this one :) ]
The darkness ahead was familiar to him. Whenever he looped there would be a period of rest in the inky abyss, while the next loop was prepared for him to enter. It had taken a bit to get used to, but now he was no longer bothered by having to wait like an immaterial little ball of something. That was what his soul looked like, he had concluded. It was actually kinda funny to try to move around and change his shape, like trying to shape hardened honey, he never could stay in one shape for long, but it was fun to try nonetheless.
This time, however, his space wasn't empty. Intruder! was the first thought that flared in his mind, but he quickly stumped the irrational anger down. This was something that had never happened before.
Tentatively, he reached towards the glowing blob hovering a little ways away from him. It flinched away, but that didn't deter him from trying to touch it again. A small blue tendril brushed across the little green light. Warmth bloomed over Danny's soul in a way he had never experienced before, and he quickly retracted the tendril. If he would've been able to speak he would've tried to interact with the strange new soul in a way that would probably allow him to gather more information, but as he was there was nothing he could do but touch.
The surface of the blob rippled like a puddle, and Danny watched fascinated as the little soul tried to clumsily gather a portion of itself and reach toward him. The motion strangely reminded him of a child trying to imitate its parents.
Before he had the chance to prod and poke more at the newcomer, the world exploded in light and he found himself laying on his bed like a starfish.
"Well, that was new..." Danny rubbed at his forehead, already reflexively looking around the room, trying to spot a calendar.
Instead, his eyes settled on a picture of him and a person he didn't recognize. In fact, when he tried to look closer at the framed picture, the person's face seemed to be blurred, alongside with any distinguishing features.
"What the hell?!" He rubbed his eyes until they stung, but nothing changed.
This loop included what he could only guess to be a sibling, whose face he couldn't see for one reason or another. He gave a long-suffering sigh. Brilliant, that was exactly what he needed, an anomaly! As if looping through different versions of his life wasn't weird enough anyway.
"Daniel, come to breakfast!" His mother's voice came a bit muffled from the other side of the door.
It was going to be okay. He would just act natural. It wasn't like having a sibling was so odd, besides, they couldn't possibly have their face blurred out like that in real life.
...
Good news: he could see their face.
Bad news: whenever he tried to remember it got blurred again.
So not really the best situation, but at least there was no way to lose them in a crowd when they kinda had a cloud for a head.
Apparently, they were just as bewildered as him, judging by how they tried and failed, to hide little slip-ups and awe-filled looks sneaking in his direction when they thought he wasn't looking. Just plain brilliant!
Danny made a mental to-do list as the tree ate the most awkward and fake family breakfast in history. Interrogating the new sibling was at the top of said list and he was already planning on how to proceed with it after eating. They had a lot of explanations to give, and he would make sure to squeeze every single bit of information out of them.
----------
He could understand dimensional traveling. Weird name his mind could process but his mouth couldn't say like "(Y/N)" (he just defaulted to calling them Wynn) was stretching it, but still understandable. Finding out that he was a fictional character from a webtoon series that was currently looping through time at the behest of a deranged fanfic author was what sent him over the edge.
Worst of all, for whatever reason, he believed them.
Danny downed all the alcohol he could get his hands on that night. It just wasn't worth trying to process that sober.
---------------
They figured out a system of sorts. Now, if only Wynn could stick to that bloody system FOR ONE DAY!
The menace that was his little sibling was not only an apparent magnet for trouble but also somehow got themselves stuck in the loops with him. Daniel began debating the merits of a vacation after the third person he had to stop from hitting on them and seriously considered murder after the eight. Whatever shitty dimension-time traveler aura they had attracted the worst types towards them, including but not limited to his schoolmates, various gangsters, and several unsavory characters the likes of Gun and Goo.
At least they were supportive of him and Jay, going as far as to explain to their increasingly bewildered big brother about the entire fandom that had been created around their relationship. They called it a ship, and named it Janiel?! The looper was hovering between mortified and oddly satisfied. In a weird way, it pleased him that people saw a fictional him and Jay (with who apparently he didn't have an official relationship in this webtoon????? Like?!?!) and decided 'yes, these go well together and we will now worship this pairing'.
The mind-fuck he got from learning that didn't disappear for a few weeks when Wynn revealed yet another concept that sent his brain into overdrive so hard he almost completely forgot about 'Janiel'. (He also almost got into an alcohol-induced coma because of it, but I digress.)
AO3 Lookism smut. Online...steamy...pieces about his universe...
That was another wild WILD ride that he didn't care to repeat.
