Skephalo Week Day 4: Immortality

I haven’t yet seen a tumblr post with these resources so I am making my own and hoping it shows up in the tags. I ASK EVERYONE WHO SEES THIS TO PLEASE REBLOG THIS.

THE INDIAN CHILD WELFARE ACT (ICWA) IS UNDER ATTACK. AND WE NEED HELP TO PROTECT IT USING THE RESOURCES BELOW.

I am not going to go into heavy detail on the bill, on its history, anything like that, the resources have a lot of information, but as a little bit of background:

It is a bill passed that forbids Native children from being adopted by non-Native families. This is for a good fucking reason, there have been historically large scoops of children taken from their Native families, at a much higher rate than white children (see the 60s scoop in Canada). These children are often abused in these homes, and their entire culture is taken from them (many end up not even knowing what tribe/nation they came from), hence the point of why they were taken in the first place (forced assimilation). Now, this does still happen through the foster care system, but this has protected in the case of adoption. It makes it that only Native families can adopt Native children.

White people hate this and have been smearing it for years (think of the whole Lexi Choctaw/Alexandria P. situation, which was so fucked how they used that little girl). Now, the state governments of Texas, Louisiana, and Indiana have taken it to the Supreme Court to be ruled unconstitutional. This case is called Haaland v. Brackeen. Because white people … really want to steal Native children. This is being heard by the court, oral arguments start WEDNESDAY. ICWA could be overturned in the matter of weeks or even days.

AS OF TODAY, JUNE 9, 2021, Nicaragua is experiencing a national blackout. There is a power cut across the entire country. This is an attempt by Ortega and the Sandinista government to limit communication by cutting power and therefore internet/cellphone reception. Ever since April 18, 2018, the Ortega regime has made peaceful protest and public criticisms against the government ILLEGAL through means of modifying the Nicaraguan constitution as they have done many times before. This year, 2021, is a presidential election year. However, Daniel Ortega and the regime have a history of stealing the electoral vote by tampering with ballots for a DECADE.

Nicaragua is not in the “list of priorities” in the international sphere and is often thrown to the side as a footnote in the discussion of dictatorships in Central America and South America. i know i'm SUPER late to the party, but i think it's still worth celebrating that Johnny Depp won his case against the defendant! (i will no longer say her name because it will get her more attention and it is disrespectful to keep saying the abuser's name whenever you mention the victim.) anyways, also a reminder that narcissistic abuse is REAL. It may or may not be what JD went through, BUT IT IS REAL. Plus he won his case on world narcissistic abuse awareness day, so the world was able to acknowledge it!! This is not a hate post for people with NPD as they do have struggles too, but there are many with that disorder who abuse people and claim to be the victim, much like the defendant did. anyone who doesn't believe that narcissistic abuse is real and/or supports the defendant, please go fuck yourself and do not interact with my account.

every eldest daughter deserves to be evil

an aspect of akito's character that i find to be... suprisingly overlooked is the fact that he cares about the people around him a lot. despite his tendency to be harsh and no nonsense at times, akito has a history of doing things to help out others (even if he's not close with them!!!) because he can relate, empathize, etc. akito cares about those around him (and their opinions — especially on him) a lot. i feel as if his more blunt criticisms of others (or just. general dynamic with tsukasa and ena) tend to be focused on much more than his actual kindness — to a point where it feels near exaggerated.

especially with vbs' second world link completely recontextualizing akito's actions in the main story towards the vivids.

even his actions that seemed like cruelty (especially with how he presented it to toya — "we're gonna crush them" etc.) had, at it's core, good intentions: "i want to give the vivids the motivation and wake up call to improve, because at this point in time, they won't make it far". akito being genuinely upset over their breakup shows that he did it in hopes of seeing them succeed and improve.

at times, he plays this uncaring and cold facade, but it couldn't be farther from the truth.

akito deeply cares about others.

Able bodied parents I'm begging you to teach your kids about disabled people. Not just because they could become disabled themselves one day but also because even if they don't, they have a very real chance of being rude to us if you don't teach them.

Yes, kids just say shit. They have no filter. That doesn't make it any less humiliating when your child sits near me on the bus and incessantly grills me on why I have a stick when I'm not old. Or laughs at us for things our disability causes. It doesn't take away the hurt when they bully a disabled classmate. For a large part these things could be avoided if you just taught your kids to respect us. It's really not that hard.

Stop Police Brutality

ok...in the span of like three months another black man’s cruel death has gone viral after Ahmaud Arbery’s shooting back in February. The pattern is that both Arbery and George Floyd were killed by racist white men. More and more black people are suffering the horrors of police brutality, and it needs to stop. Will this make me hate cops? No, I watch too many cop shows. Anyway, I just wanted to spread awareness of these harmless black men being ruthlessly killed. The more it happens, the more it seems like genocide to me. White people are KILLING black people once again. We need to stop this cycle. I don’t know any donation sites to help the fight against racist killings, but you guys can reblog this and post some charities to donate to since I’m broke and the only thing I can do is speak out.
