Sanemi had been working a lot recently. As the CEO of the company he worked at, he would always be out and about with meetings or doing paperwork at his work place. [Name] was getting so lonely since he was always at work. She understood and didn’t get in his way, however, it was becoming a daily routine that she couldn’t stand. Sanemi would wake up extremely early in the morning to shower, then to leave for work. He wouldn’t get home until she fell asleep.

However, for [Name], today was different. Sanemi was given a short vacation, meaning he would stay home for a few days. Much to her delight, he would only have at home meetings in the first couple days and he would be good to go for the rest of his break.

It was third day of his suppose break and he was still locked up in his office, doing paperwork. [Name] frowned as she stared at the closed door from where she was sitting.

Sanemi promised her that after he finished his work, he would sit and watch a movie with her. He’s been an hour late so far to their little movie date; in their own home. She could hear Sanemi arguing with one of his business partners in there.

Or maybe a few.

She could hear the words ‘flamboyant’ and Shinobu’s passive aggressiveness towards Giyuu. It sounded like he was in a conference meeting with his fellow pillars.

“Burn in hell, Giyuu!”

The sudden outburst was nothing new. Every time he had to do those sorts of calls, he would be swearing someone out. Unless his main boss was in the call, he would be more quiet.

Most of the time.

She couldn’t help but softly groan. She leaned against the headrest of her couch, pulling out her phone to scroll through social media.

Something caught her interest.

It was a video of a woman recording herself.

“Okay guys, I’m going to walk in as my boyfriend is playing video games~”

[Name] spotted a towel being thrown on the floor and watched as the woman walked in her boyfriend playing his games. [Name] giggled as the man had to do a double take until his jaw dropped.

She pressed her hand to her lips and thought for a moment.

I wonder how Sanemi would react if I did this...

Fuck it.

She tossed her phone on the couch and made her way into their bedroom. After stripping to nothing, she strutted her way towards Sanemi’s office with her bra in hand.

She quietly opened the door, a dumb smile residing on her face. When she walked in, Sanemi was in the corner of the room, his eyes trained on the screen in front of him.

It nearly offended her how he didn’t look up immediately since she was right in front of him.

(She was out of view of his webcam)

She walked towards him and bent over to rest her arm on the desk. For a moment, Sanemi had reached forward, grabbing her hand. Not once, had he still looked away from the laptop as he rubbed his thumb against the back of her hand.

He mumbled under his breath, which seems that he was reading something; a document. She stared at his face a moment. He looked so concentrated, yet annoyed. He clicked his tongue. With his other hand on the mouse, he clicked away from the document to reveal the online meeting he was in.

[Name] looked to see that it was all of the pillars, excluding Kagaya Ubuyashiki. She glanced at Sanemi.

“The proposition’s alright. I think it would be better and easier if we invested our stocks with the organizations in Kyoto instead.” Sanemi said as he rested his cheek against his hand, while still holding [Name]’s.

“If only that was easier...” She heard Giyuu’s voice trailed off.

Sanemi stiffened and slammed his fist onto his desk,”What was that, shitass?”

“Nothing.” Giyuu replied.

[Name] couldn’t help but giggle.

“Eh? Was that [Name]? Tell her she’s so pretty and I miss her!” Mitsuri cooed. [Name] peered onto the screen, seeing the Sakura-haired woman wave her hands to the screen.

She waved her hand and poked her head into the view of Sanemi’s view cam.

“[Name]! Looking flamboyant as ever! You should visit me and my wives sometime! Suma was always such a big fan of all the desserts you made!” [Name] skimped the faces to see Uzui in the middle of the screen.

She smiled,”I love too! Maybe you guys can come over for dinner!”

“The hell they will.” Sanemi murmured.

[Name] whacked him.

His only response back was an eye roll.

For a moment, [Name] forgot that she was naked in his office. It was a bigger surprise that Sanemi didn’t notice yet, since he was so engrossed in his work.

Time to wrap this conference up.

“I’ll leave you guys to finish up the meeting.” [Name] said, as she stood up. She heard a few murmurs of byes and looked at Sanemi. Sanemi was glancing at other paperwork that was on his desk.

Is this man serious?

[Name] felt a bit ticked off. Then, she remembered the bra that she held in her hand. With a faint hum, she held it above his head and dropped it onto his lap.

That snapped Sanemi from his focused trance to look at it. He looked confused why her bra was thrown at him.

“[Name], what are you—....”

When he looked up, he froze. He had to do a double take.

Then stared, his jaw dropped,”Holy shit...”

[Name] wanted to burst into laughter because of how he reacted. It was rare to see him caught off guard so quick.

“Sanemi? Is there something wrong?” Rengoku’s voice rang from the audio. Sanemi snapped out and glanced down at his computer.

“I have to go now. I have urgent business.” He ended the call and closed his laptop.

He slammed his hands onto his desk and shot up.

“[Name], what kind of shit did you just pull...”

She made her way out of his office,”Why don’t you come here and find out.”

Sanemi loosened his tie as he followed her,”I think I rather teach you a lesson for walking in my meeting like that.”

[ Unravel : Part I ] Rengoku x Reader

[Rengoku x Reader]

What’s going on? 

Everything was happening in a blur. 

“Inosuke! Move for [Name]-San! Go!”

Tanjirou? 

Warm, desperate hands gripped [Name]’s haori. The same trembling arms wrapped around her frame, pulling her body into a sturdy build. Her senses were enveloped in the scent of embers and faintly of cinnamon. 

Rengoku Kyoujurou. Her love.

“K-Kyo—“ When she tried to talk, only blood split from her lips and her shoulders shook as she erupted into violent coughs. She curled more into her lover’s embrace as her hand shot up to her mouth as a futile attempt to stop the blood from getting everywhere.

It didn’t matter since there was already so much blood that had stained her haori and what was left of her uniform.

What was left. 

 There’s a hole in her stomach. 

She felt herself getting sick and dizzy as the demon’s arm began to disappear from her stomach. Her vision was blurring. It didn’t take long until she began to process the pain. The female Hashira struggled to breathe. She looked around her surroundings.

The kids had gone running after the demon that had impaled her. The demon was running into the forest, trying to get away from Tanjiro as the others followed close in pursuit. 

“[Name], look at me. Look at me!” Rengoku shook her shoulder to make at least an effort to keep her awake,”We are going to go see Shinobu-san and you are going to be fine!” 

She heard his usual positive tone began to waver and crack. She looked up to meet Rengoku’s panicked gaze. He pressed his hand hard against gaping hole in her stomach. 

“Please, [Name], please—“ He begged. “Please don’t go. You can’t leave Senjuro or our friends. You can’t leave me alone!” More tears began to stream down his cheeks as he noticed the blood began to seep through his fingers. 

Her memory began to recall back what happened. What she had done.

“Why is the Upper Moon Demon Three here?” Why now?” [Name] hissed, rolling the handle of her blade in her grasp. She lunged forward at the demon, who tried to land an attack on one of the younger demon slayers. She was already covered in scars and wounds from the previous battle. 

“Breath of the Petals! Fourth Style! Carousel of the Peony Garden!” She swung her blade as multiple petals appeared from her blade. 

... 

“Amazing, amazing!” The demon, whose named she learned was Akaza, had praised. [Name] glanced over towards Kyoujurou. Despite his radiant, enthusiastic expression, she knew he was getting tired. He was covered in his own blood. They were both nearing their limits, however, still determined to fight and defend the children who stood behind them.

“Let’s continue to fight for all eternity!” Akaza positioned himself to strike. She had to move.

She had to move! 

Now!

“Ninth Style... Purgatory!” 

The demon moved too fast for Rengoku, he wasn’t quick enough to comprehend what just happened nor see anything. Sand was kicked up and dust was everywhere.

By the time it disappeared, he noticed a familiar mob of [hair color] hair in front of him. His heart stopped.

“... [Name]?” 

The demon had plunged its arm through her stomach, his nails nearly touching Rengoku’s chest.

The Flower Hashira had jumped in front of him to save his life. [Name]’s angered glare made contact with the demon’s veined eyes until the rising of the sun caught her attention. Veins protruded from her forehead and arms as she threw her blade aside and gripped onto Akaza with all her might.

“You are not going anywhere! I am not going to let you go!” She screeched as pain blew up like millions of needles stabbing her in her stomach. Akaza grabbed her arms, digging his nails into them. 

“Let go, you bitch!” He screamed back, squeezing her wrists, nearly snapping them. 

She smirked. 

For some reason, that absolutely pissed him off.

“I’m not going to ever let go... Until your head gets chopped off.”

Inosuke appeared at their side, getting ready to swing until Akaza had ripped off his arms to evade their attacks.  [Name] stood there for a moment before swaying and falling.

The demon had fled into the woods with the others slayers in pursuit. All except for one.

[Name] gasped multiple times in an attempt to breathe. At a distance, she could hear Tanjirou scream. Her attention shifted back towards her lover when she felt tear drops drip onto her cheek.

“Oh Kyoujurou...” She quietly rasped. She tasted the metallic on her tongue and felt it drip down her chin. She took a moment to glance down. She wished she hadn’t. Blood had stained her entire haori. Her once beautiful white drab was now tainted in red. Her uniform was torn and she could see the hole in the middle of her stomach. She couldn’t see what was in the hole since the Rengoku’s hand was pressing hard against it. 

What was the point? She knew she wasn’t going to last long. 

“No, my love. Look at me.” Her love repeated, in a shaky voice. His palm gently pressed against her cheek and tilted her face up towards him. 

She’s never seen him so sad before. 

She reached up to brush her fingertips against his cheek to wipe away some tears. 

“Why... Why did you do it?” He quietly muttered. Although he was no longer dynamic, he was trying so hard to compose himself. 

She smiled weakly. “Because I love you.” She cupped his cheek and slowly leaned up to press a kiss onto his own. 

He kissed back, hard. He wrapped his arms around her once more and pressed her against his body. He held her tight like she could be taken away at any moment now. 

She was going to die. 

“[Name], that’s not fair— You’re so reckless.” More tears formed in his eyes when he pulled away. She noticed how his shoulders visibly trembled. “We were suppose to get married. We were suppose to have kids, I—“ He took her hand from his cheek and held it against his chest,

“I wanted to have a life with you.” 

[Name] started to cry. “Kyoujurou  ... I’m so sorry.” With her remaining strength, she squeezed his hand. “Maybe...” She smiled,”We can be together longer in another life.” She coughed once more. She sputtered more blood, even staining his haori. 

Another sob choked from the Flame Pillar as he pressed his forehead against her temple and begged,”I don’t want another life. I want you alive with me here and now. Just stop talking— Reserve your strength! I can save you! Shinobu!—“ 

His cries were interrupted as she kissed him once more. Despite the pain and agony, she wound her arms around his neck. He melted into her embrace. When she pulled away, she felt herself began to fade as she fell back into his chest. 

“I... I love you.” She muttered.

Rengoku positioned her to look at her face once more and panicked as he saw the light waning from her eyes. He cupped her cheek and began to shake her, begging her not to go. She placed a faint kiss on his palm. 

As her vision dwindled, she heard the other demon slayers run by and were yelling. 

“[Name]-san, don’t leave us!”

“Stupid plant bitch, you can’t die! You promised me you fight me!”

“Please fight! You can stay alive! No! [Name]-san!” 

“[Name], no! I love you, too! I love you! Don’t leave me behind!”

“[NAME]!”

She was gone. 

“AAAHHH! NO, [NAME]!”

Kyoujurou Rengoku embraced his now dead lover tightly, gently rocking her as the last pointless attempt for her to wake up. He sobbed loudly, begging the moment to just be a terrible nightmare. If only it was. 

News spread quickly about the Flower Pillars death. Many of the fellow pillars were distraught and furious. When the Fire Pillar and the other demon slayers came back to their master’s estate, none of the other pillars asked questions nor bothered them. This should have been natural in the demon world. However, it still hurt to lose someone like [Name]. She was a great friend and like a loving sister. 

Mitsuri, the Love Pillar, consulted and comforted the newly demon slayers the best she could. When the Rengoku family had heard the news, Senjuro constantly cried while their father had screamed in denial until he demanded to see her body. 

The Flame Pillar was the one to bring her home; to bring home her body. It was covered in his haori while he had her bloodstained one draped over one of his arms. He buried her near Ubayashiki estate where everyone could see her. 

Days have passed and Kyoujurou Rengoku had been rarely seen around. Other pillars have talked about him; when they interact with him, his positive attitude is forced and his eyes are bloodshot with bags under them. 

It was just one fateful day when Rengoku had visited his lover’s grave.

Except it had been dug up and her body was missing.
