I just put on a dark green cardigan and am on my way to a quiet garden to read What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher. I am the dark academia, spooky October aesthetic.

Andreil how it ended: Andrew strangling Kevin to find out what happened to Neil

Tbh spyxfamily and vicious (v. e. schwab) are the exact same shit like you get the sexy malewife, the strong sensitive partner, the overly powerful kid that was rescued/adopted earlier in the story and the huge dog that becomes her emotional support
The amount of guns in the same. The amount of death is NOT
We all thought Andrew didn't care about Jean in TSC and I think we were right, but after TGR? Where does Jean fit into Andrew's scheme? Because I think his position has changed radically here.
In their encounter in TGR, Jean subtly makes it clear that he and Andrew share trauma, but I don't think that appeals to Andrew. The important thing here is that there was a rapist near Neil in The Nest, and somehow, he didn't touch Neil while he did touch Jean.
The important thing is that Jean states that he wouldn't have given Neil up so easily if he knew Andrew would neglect him, making clear a kind of "protective feeling". Here Jean admits that he did help Neil at The Nest to the extent he could, or at least he subconsciously admits it (and he really did, in the form of ongoing support and aftercare, which we know Jean didn't have, but he made sure Neil did have that while he was with him. What's more... Jean used French with Neil at The Nest. He used it despite what had happened with Kevin and what was done to him, in order to try to help Neil more effectively.)
The important thing here is that Jean recognized Andrew as Neil's protector and told him that if he didn't take care of himself, he wouldn't be able to protect him properly.
And Andrew knew Jean was right and quit smoking because of it (even though Andrew couldn't really have done anything to stop the attack, whether he smoked or not, but he listened. He knew Jean had a point).
Let's not forget that Andrew was also around to see Jean kick Bryson out of the house to protect his friends.
That being said... What does Andrew think of Jean now?
To me...I think Andrew has respect.
Andrew has seen Jean protect him own. Andrew is also aware now that Jean cares for Neil and looked out for him at The Nest. He looked out for him...knowing there was a predator around who had torn Jean apart. He looked out for Neil and watched over him despite Riko, and Andrew knows what state Riko left Kevin in.
I think Andrew has a lot of respect for Jean right now.
I also think he may have Jean in a frame of mind of "people he'd leave Neil with if Neil needed protecting and he wasn't around." In fact, I think I might be the first person he'd think of if this were the case, or at least the second.
What do you think?
