riki had never known silence could be this loud.
The kind that rings in your ears. Sits heavy on your chest. Makes you realize just how fucking empty everything feels without the person you love.
And y/n?
She had been his silence for a month now.
No texts. No calls. No second chances.
And the worst part? He knew he had no one to blame but himself.
y/n never thought she’d get over riki.
She thought the ache of missing him would sit in her chest forever, that the ghost of his touch would always linger on her skin.
But then, one day, she woke up, and it didn’t hurt as much.
And that terrified her.
Because it meant she was finally letting go.
And deep down, she didn’t want to.
She just needed a reason to hold on.
But riki never knew how to give her one.
So she forced herself to move on.
Or at least, she tried.
riki didn’t hesitate this time.
Didn’t overthink. Didn’t run. Didn’t let fear keep him from doing the one thing he should’ve done a long time ago.
He showed up at her door, heart pounding, hands clammy, breath shaky.
And then—
He knocked.
Nothing.
He knocked again.
And this time—
The door opened.
y/n stood there, hair messy from sleep, wearing the hoodie he had left at her place months ago.
And fuck, he had never missed someone more.
She blinked at him, slow and unreadable. “riki?”
His throat tightened. “Hey.”
A beat of silence.
Then she exhaled, crossing her arms. “What are you doing here?”
He swallowed hard. “I need to talk to you.”
She stared at him for a long moment. Then—
“riki, don’t—”
“No,” he cut in, voice cracking. “Just—please let me say this.”
She went quiet.
So he took a breath and said everything.
“I fucked up, y/n. I know that. I knew that even before you left. But I was scared. Scared of ruining things. Scared of not being enough for you. Scared of what it would mean if I let myself love you.”
Her breath hitched.
But he wasn’t done.
“I told myself it was just fun. That I could keep you close without really having you. That I could kiss you, touch you, want you—without giving you the one thing you always deserved.”
His voice broke.
“And I was so fucking wrong.”
y/n’s eyes were glossy now, lips slightly parted.
But she still didn’t say anything.
So he took a step closer.
“I love you, y/n,” he said, voice raw. “I have for so long, and I don’t want to be scared anymore.”
Silence.
Then—
“You’re an idiot.”
His heart dropped.
But before he could say anything, y/n moved.
Her hands fisted in his hoodie, yanking him down, and suddenly
She was kissing him.
riki froze for half a second before melting into her, his hands cupping her face, his heart hammering against his ribs.
She pulled away first, her forehead resting against his, her fingers still tangled in his hoodie.
“You took way too long to say that,” she muttered.
His lips twitched, breath shaky. “I know.”
She exhaled. “You’re lucky I love you too.”
His eyes burned. “Yeah?” he whispered
She nodded, her voice softer now. “Yeah.”
riki wasn’t sure how long they stood there, breathing the same air, foreheads pressed together, hearts racing.
But it still didn’t feel close enough.
Not after everything. Not after losing her. Not after spending a month trying to pretend he could exist without her.
He wasn’t running anymore.
So he kissed her again.
Slower this time.
Less desperate. More sure
y/n didn’t hesitate, she melted into him, her hands still curled into his hoodie, pulling him closer.
His fingers ghosted over her waist before gripping her hips, anchoring himself to her. His heartbeat was wild, erratic, but for the first time in weeks his mind wasn’t loud.
It was just her.
The way she sighed against his lips, the way her fingers traced the back of his neck, the way she kissed him like she had been waiting for this too.
She pulled away just enough to whisper “I hate you.”
His lips barely brushed against hers as he murmured, “No, you don’t.”
Her hands slipped under his hoodie, nails dragging lightly over his skin. He shivered.
She smirked. “Okay, I wanted to hate you.”
His jaw clenched. “I know.”
Her expression softened. “You really scared me, riki.”
He exhaled sharply, guilt gnawing at his chest. “I know that too.”
She searched his face, eyes flickering between his, as if trying to find something. “And you’re sure?” she asked, voice quieter now. “You’re not just saying this because you miss me?”
He tightened his grip on her waist, shaking his head. “I’m sure.”
She studied him for another long second.
Then—
“Prove it.”
He swallowed hard. “How?”
y/n’s lips parted, but instead of answering, she tugged him inside.
And riki followed without hesitation.
The door barely shut before Naomi was on him again, kissing him harder, more needy this time.
riki groaned against her lips, hands gripping her thighs as he lifted her, letting her legs wrap around his waist.
Her back hit the wall, a soft gasp slipping out, and something about the sound made riki’s head spin.
Because for the first time, this wasn’t about blurred lines or ignoring feelings.
This wasn’t about pretending it was just fun.
This was real. They were real.
And he was never fucking letting her go again.
The next morning, riki woke up before her.
The sun filtered in through the curtains, casting a golden glow on y/ns bare shoulder, she was still sleeping, her face turned into the pillow, her breathing slow and steady.
And riki just looked at her.
Really looked at her.
And for the first time in his life, he wasn’t scared of what came next.
Because he had already made his choice.
And it was her.

Riki didn’t go back inside the party. He couldn’t.
Not when his mind was still stuck on the way y/n had looked at him—like she was done, like she was finally slipping through his fingers, and he had no one to blame but himself.
He stood there on the sidewalk long after she left, staring at the empty street, fists clenched at his sides. His whole body felt tense, like he was seconds away from breaking something.
She wanted him to say it.
To admit it.
But how the fuck was he supposed to say something that terrified him?
riki had never been good at feelings. He didn’t do relationships. Didn’t do commitment. It was easier not to care, to keep things simple.
But y/n wasn’t simple, She never had been.
And now, she was gone.
The thought alone made his stomach sink.
He pulled his phone out, fingers hovering over her contact. He wanted to text her—say something, anything to fix this. But what the fuck was he supposed to say?
“Sorry for being emotionally unavailable?”
“Sorry for acting like you didn’t mean something when you fucking do?”
He scoffed, shoving his phone back into his pocket. He had no right to text her. No right to chase after her when he was the one who pushed her away.
But that didn’t stop him from wanting to.
y/n was still wide awake when her phone buzzed at 2 a.m.
She knew who it was before she even looked.
Riki.
She stared at the screen for a long moment, her chest tightening. She wanted to ignore it. She should ignore it.
But she didn’t.
Riki: Are you home?
Her fingers hovered over the keyboard. Her first instinct was to leave him on read. Let him wonder. Let him feel even an ounce of what she felt tonight.
But she hated that she still cared.
y/n: Why do you care?
Three dots appeared. Then disappeared. Then came back again.
Riki: Just answer the goddamn question.
She exhaled sharply, rolling onto her back, staring up at the ceiling. He wasn’t even trying to be subtle. He wanted to know she was safe, but he couldn’t just say that.
y/n: Yeah, I’m home.
She expected him to leave it at that. Maybe even say good. But instead—
Riki: Open the door.
Her breath caught.
She sat up so fast she got dizzy, eyes widening at the message. He’s here?
y/n hesitated for half a second before throwing the covers off and heading for the door. When she swung it open, Riki was standing there, hood up, hands shoved into his pockets, looking every bit as reckless and conflicted as she felt.
She crossed her arms. “What the hell are you doing here?”
He exhaled, dragging a hand down his face. “I don’t know.”
“Bullshit.”
His jaw clenched. “I just—I couldn’t—” He let out a frustrated sigh. “I didn’t want to leave it like that.”
She laughed dryly. “So what? You’re here to apologize?”
Riki looked at her, and something in his gaze made her stomach twist. “I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing, y/n. I just know I couldn’t sleep knowing you were pissed at me.”
She shook her head, swallowing the lump in her throat. “You don’t get to do this, Riki. You don’t get to act like you care but refuse to actually say it.”
His expression hardened. “You think this is easy for me?”
“Yes!” she snapped. “Because you get to have it both ways. You get to keep me close enough when you need me but push me away when it gets too fucking real.”
He flinched, and for the first time, she saw it—fear. Not anger. Not frustration. Just pure, unfiltered fear in his eyes.
She softened. Just a little.
“Why are you so scared of me?” she asked, voice quieter now.
He looked away, jaw tight. “I’m not.”
“Yes, you are,” she insisted. “You’re scared of us. Of what this could be. And you’d rather destroy it before it even happens than admit that you actually—”
“Don’t,” he cut her off, voice strained.
She sucked in a breath. “Don’t what?”
“Don’t fucking say it.”
“Say what?” she pressed. “That you care?”
He exhaled sharply, like the word itself was suffocating him.
y/n let out a humorless laugh. “You know what’s funny? You’ve already lost me, riki. And you still can’t say it.”
Silence.
Just his heavy breathing, her pounding heart, and the tension so thick she felt like she might choke on it.
She took a slow step back. “Go home, riki.”
His jaw clenched, hands twitching at his sides, like he wanted to reach for her but didn’t know how.
He didn’t move.
Neither did she.
Until finally, she took another step back and shut the door in his face.
And this time, he let her.

y/n had met plenty of people in her life but standing outside riki’s family home felt different. This wasn’t some formal introduction or passing interaction. This was his family. The people who raised him, who knew him in ways she didn’t yet, and she wanted them to like her.
riki, of course, found her nerves amusing.
“You know they’re not scary, right?” he teased, hands in his pockets as he leaned closer to her.
y/n shot him a look. “Easy for you to say. You’re already their favorite.”
“I am their son.”
“Exactly, so I have to compete.”
riki rolled his eyes but smirked anyway. Before he could reassure her, the front door swung open, and his mom appeared with a bright smile.
“There you are! y/n, finally, we meet in person,” she said warmly, immediately reaching out to pull y/n into a hug.
y/n stiffened in surprise for only a second before relaxing into it. the hug wasn’t overwhelming—just warm, like an unspoken you’re welcome here.
“It’s really nice to meet you,” y/n said as they pulled apart, offering a genuine smile.
riki’s mom gave her a once-over, still smiling. “Even prettier than I expected. And you carry yourself so well—ah, I love you already.”
y/n felt her face heat up slightly. “That’s really sweet, thank you.”
Before she could say anything else, a small voice interrupted.
“So this is y/n.”
y/n turned her head to see konon leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, eyeing her with a smirk. Unlike misora, who stood beside her with a more neutral expression, konon had the kind of presence that made it clear she was the older sibling.
“I was wondering when riki would finally bring you over.” konon said, pushing off the doorframe and stepping closer.
riki groaned. “Can we not make this weird?”
konon ignored him, instead looking y/n up and down before nodding. “You’re cool. I like you.”
y/n chuckled, feeling some of her nerves fade. “That’s a relief.”
misora, who had been quieter, finally spoke up. “I’m curious about something.”
y/n turned to her. “Yeah?”
misora tilted her head. “How do you handle him?” She pointed at riki.
y/n blinked before bursting into laughter. “Honestly? I just bully him back.”
konon cackled. “That’s the only correct answer.”
riki scoffed. “You guys are sick.”
His mom just smiled fondly. “Come inside. We were just about to have dinner.”
As y/n stepped in, konon threw an arm around her shoulders like they’d known each other forever, already talking about all the embarrassing childhood stories she planned to share. Meanwhile, misora nudged riki.
“She’s cool,” she said simply.
riki, watching y/n laugh as she got effortlessly pulled into their family dynamic, smiled softly.
“Yeah,” he murmured. “I know.”

It was one of those nights—no schedules, no calls, no cameras. Just them.
y/n was curled up in the corner of the couch, scrolling through her phone, still in riki’s hoodie, the sleeves swallowing her hands. The fabric was warm from his body heat, and the scent of his cologne lingered in the threads, making her feel safe. Riki, on the other hand, was stretched out beside her, long legs sprawled over the cushions, one arm draped lazily over the back of the couch.
They had been quiet for a while, just existing in each other’s space, but riki wasn’t the type to sit still for long.
“You’re too far,” he mumbled, his voice low and slightly raspy from exhaustion.
y/n barely glanced up. “I’m literally right next to you.”
riki, unimpressed with her response, reached out, fingers brushing over the hem of the hoodie she wore. In one swift motion, he tugged her closer, effortlessly pulling her into his lap.
“Riki!” she yelped, but he only smirked, tightening his arms around her waist so she couldn’t escape.
“This is better,” he murmured, resting his chin on her shoulder. His voice was softer now, as if the world outside their apartment didn’t exist—just the warmth of her pressed against him.
Y/n sighed, but she didn’t fight him. Instead, she let herself relax against his chest, her fingers absentmindedly tracing patterns over his arm.
riki hummed, his lips brushing against the curve of her neck,y/n shivered at the feeling, warmth creeping up her spine.
riki, pulling back slightly so he could look at her. His eyes were laced with something unspoken, something soft. His fingers found her cheek, tracing along her jaw before tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. Y/n just stared at him, taking in the way his gaze flickered over her face—her eyes, her nose, the curve of her lips.
“What?” she asked, voice quieter now.
riki tilted his head, a lazy smirk playing at the corner of his mouth. “Nothing. Just thinking about how pretty you are.”
y/n rolled her eyes, but the way her fingers curled into his hoodie betrayed her. “You always say that.”
“And I’ll keep saying it.”
He leaned in then, pressing his lips against her temple, then her cheek, then just below her ear, where she was most sensitive. She felt his smirk against her skin when she squirmed.
“riki..” she warned.
“What?” he murmured, his breath warm against her neck. “I’m just appreciating my girlfriend. Is that a crime?”
Y/n bit back a smile, threading her fingers through his hair as she pulled back just enough to look him in the eyes. “If it was, you’d be in jail by now.”
riki chuckled, but his grip on her waist tightened, his fingers slipping beneath the hoodie to rest against her skin. She felt the warmth of his hands, his touch grounding, familiar.
“Stay like this for a while” he said, more serious now.
y/n softened. “Okay.”
And so they stayed. Wrapped up in each other, warmth shared in the quiet of the night. It was the kind of love that didn’t need grand gestures or spoken confessions—it was just them. Just love.
