One thing I want to point out about nimona is that it captures tenderness in such a visceral way that I haven’t really seen in animation before? Like the way the characters curl into each other and melt makes me go INSANE

no pressure but im curious what techniques you'd share. art hacks, and what have you! though, I am also curious what you and anon mean by flat color for depth as well?

It’s a little more clear in this drawing, but it’s something I use for storyboarding. The stuff in the foreground is darker and it gets lighter the further you go back to simulate depth. It works the same when you actually use color, as well, but I do greyscale for a lot of my sketches and it helps set everything apart more clearly, for me.

MTMTE #38 prompted me to slap some colour on this
