ok so i got to do stuff with shapes and colors and like some math and writing random symbols fast. more to come in like two weeks.
going to get psychiatrically evaluated today!!!! let’s see if there’s a reason why I act the way I do or if it’s normal and it’s just a random placebo effect!! or it’s also normal and everyone is the way I am they’re just more used to it and I’m for some reason not!!!!
I genuinely think this is the best rewrite i’ve seen for this movie. No getting rid of the light fury, just expanding on her from what we were given!!!
This is a full rewrite of THW that I’ve been working on for a few years now, featuring my Light Fury redesign. It’s still mostly a rough draft. There are a few things here and there that I’d like to work out. Maybe I’ll even turn it into a detailed story one day, but for now this is just an outline of how the main events play out. Feel free to give helpful advice and criticism.
Opening Scene
Plays out mostly the same as the movie, except the gang actually work together as a team instead of just fumbling through.
After the trappers are taken out and the dragons are freed, the riders start to leave with the dragons. Toothless pauses while still on the deck, sniffing the air. Something has caught his attention. He snaps out of it when he hears Hiccup calling for him. He takes one last look around before finding Hiccup and flying off.
The camera pans down below the deck, where we partially see the Light Fury in a cage.
Grimmel and the Warlords
Like the movie, the warlords mention that the dragons on Berk are protected by a Night Fury, which catches Grimmel’s attention.
During this scene Grimmel mentions that he has started slaughtering the Light Furies after killing off the Night Furies, but he suspects that the Light Furies have gone into hiding since he has had a difficult time finding them.
He approaches the Light Fury's cage. The Light Fury presses herself up against the far side of the cage as Grimmel gets closer, snarling at him through the muzzle.
Toothless Meets the Light Fury
At the beginning of the scene Hiccup is looking over his map while Toothless is laying beside him, watching in interest. When Astrid and Stormfly show up, Toothless and Stormfly start to play with each other.
Their play is interrupted when something suddenly catches Toothless’ attention. He sniffs around, then flies down from the cliff’s edge into the forest below. He follows the strange scent until he reaches a clearing, where he sees the Light Fury.
He cautiously approaches her. She wakes up from her drugged-induced state and notices Toothless. Here we see that she’s muzzled.
Startled, she jumps to her feet and starts growling at Toothless. A chain leading to a metal collar around her neck rattles as she jolts up.
Toothless jumps back in surprise. The Light Fury notices the muzzle and paws at it in frustration. She starts pacing back and forth, keeping her eyes locked onto Toothless.
After a few moments of coaxing from Toothless, the Light Fury finally allows him to free her.
It's here that they gaze into each other's eyes, intrigued by one another. The moment is cut short when she notices Hiccup and Astrid. With a snarl, she fires a plasma blast into the trees. When she sees Hiccup and Astrid peer out from behind their cover, she fires a second blast.
Toothless roars at her and flares out his wings, putting himself between her and the riders so she can't fire another blast.
Overwhelmed, the Light Fury flies away.
The Following Day
The next day Hiccup is excited and fascinated at the idea of finding another Fury species. He describes her appearance to Fishlegs eagerly as he prepares a bowl of fish for Toothless.
Hiccup calls Toothless over for breakfast, but Toothless doesn’t move. We see him staring longingly at the sky, clearly distracted. He doesn’t give any sign that he heard Hiccup at all.
Toothless’ attention is drawn to two Nadders courting each other. He watches them thoughtfully.
Hiccup mentions going back to see if they can find the Light Fury and Toothless immediately perks up.
Hiccup and Toothless go back to where the Light Fury was the previous night. Toothless sniffs around the clearing while Hiccup examines where the Light Fury was chained. Here he finds a dart that was used to keep her drugged.
There is no dragon trap set.
Hiccup Meets Grimmel
Not many changes for this scene, but the damage done by Grimmel is a lot more significant. It’s not just Hiccup’s house that was attacked, a large portion of the village was burned down or damaged. Some people were even injured in the attack.
Fishlegs also isn’t disguised as Toothless. Toothless just simply isn’t there.
New Berk
Like the movie, we see Hiccup and everyone leaving Berk, but instead of leaving to find the Hidden World, they’re leaving so they can lie low and hide from Grimmel for the time being. It cuts back and forth between the Berkians flying with their dragons and Grimmel talking to the warlords. The Light Fury does not throw Hiccup off of Toothless during this scene.
The camera pans back from the large flock, where we see the Light Fury trailing them from behind.
First Date
Similar to the movie, Toothless wakes up when he senses the Light Fury nearby. He goes outside to meet her, where she then beckons for him to follow her.
Toothless glances back at Hiccup’s tent, hesitant to leave, but ultimately he decides to go with her.
The Light Fury lands on the beach and looks over to Toothless. Like the movie, he slips and stumbles out onto the beach. Once he recovers, the Light Fury takes to the air and urges him to come with her. Toothless roars to her in desperation, pacing back and forth along the shore. Her gaze follows his tail and she finally notices his missing tail fin. She lands on the beach and Toothless is thrilled, bounding around happily. The Light Fury slowly circles around him to the end of his tail, sniffing at where his missing tail fin should be.
The two continue bonding on the beach. Hiccup eventually catches up and watches from afar.
Note: The Light Fury does not try to court Toothless here.
The Light Fury tries to get Toothless to play. Toothless returns her gesture, and the two chase each other around the beach.
Toothless notices a branch on the ground and snatches it up in his jaws. He draws the Light Fury in the sand. She’s confused by the gesture, but amused. She carefully steps around the drawing and approaches Toothless, who offers her a gummy smile. She attempts to mimic him.
While she's smiling at him she glances up and notices Hiccup. Her ears pin back, and her teeth reappear as she starts to growl. There’s a low hiss as she charges up a plasma blast. Toothless roars at her in panic, and she stops, looking at him and then back at Hiccup before she turns and runs. She takes to the air, and Toothless tries to fly after her, only to crash into the water. Unlike the movie, he doesn't glare at his tail.
Toothless' New Tail
We find out that Hiccup has started calling the Light Fury Soundbreak.
Hiccup calls Toothless over and hooks up the new auto tail fin.
Toothless examines his new prosthetic, opening and closing his tail fins to test it out. He shakes his head with a snort of disapproval. He looks at Hiccup with uncertainty, letting out a confused croon.
Hiccup reassures Toothless that it's okay. It will just be until he brings Soundbreak back.
Toothless nuzzles Hiccup before turning to take off. He glances back at Hiccup one last time, then takes to the sky.
Second Date
The scene plays out the same as the deleted scene. The only difference is that she doesn't pretend to be uninterested in the beginning. Instead she invites Toothless to go flying with her after she sniffs his fake tail fin.
Unknowing to Toothless, Soundbreak is testing him. Furies test the strength and endurance of potential mates to make sure they are strong and healthy. Soundbreak is making sure that Toothless can keep up with her and that his prosthetic tail fin isn’t a hindrance to him, though Toothless thinks it’s all a game.
Toothless doesn’t use the lightning to cloak. That ability is completely removed.
The Hidden World
Soundbreak brings Toothless to a large clearing, where both Night Furies and Light Furies are waiting. After realizing they were being hunted, the Night Furies and Light Furies went into hiding.
Soundbreak introduces Toothless to the other Furies, who sniff at him curiously. A loud, bellowing roar suddenly rings out. The other Furies back away as a Titan Wing Night Fury approaches. This dragon is covered in scars, his wings and tail fins tattered from age. This is the alpha of the Fury flock that lives in the Hidden World. His piercing yellow eyes look over Toothless, examining him closely. After a few moments the alpha accepts Toothless.
Toothless and Soundbreak perform a courting dance, with Toothless following her lead. They trot around each other in a circle, wings up and tails swishing. Once the dance is complete and they have accepted each other as mates, the other Furies roar in celebration.
Like the movie, Hiccup tells Astrid that they should leave when he sees how happy Toothless is. They are discovered by a Rhumblehorn just as they’re about to leave.
While Toothless is in the clearing he glances back at his tail, missing Hiccup. A second later the Rhumblehorn gives the warning call.
Toothless saves Hiccup and Astrid. Unlike the movie, Toothless doesn't look annoyed having to do so.
Toothless and Soundbreak Get Captured
Similar to the movie, Hiccup tells Toothless that he should stay in the Hidden World, believing that he’ll be happier with his own kind. The moment is interrupted when Toothless notices Soundbreak.
He urges her to meet Hiccup. Although apprehensive, she still follows Toothless.
Soundbreak senses that something is wrong and warns Toothless before taking to the sky. A dart whizzes through the air and hits her in the neck, sending her crashing down.
Toothless desperately runs to her. When he sees Grimmel he starts charging a plasma blast. Grimmel shoots Toothless in the neck with a dart. Toothless staggers, managing to fire a blast that misses Grimmel before he collapses.
Grimmel notices Hiccup running down the hill. He whistles a command to his Deathgrippers and points to Hiccup. As Hiccup reaches Grimmel the Deathgrippers swarm him, one of them pinning him to the ground. Hiccup can do nothing but watch as both Toothless and Soundbreak are hooked up to the airship.
When Toothless wakes up Grimmel threatens Hiccup and uses him as leverage instead of the Light Fury. Grimmel orders Toothless to stand down and command the flock to follow him, otherwise Hiccup will die. Toothless has no choice but to obey.
The Final Battle
Hiccup gets rescued by the other riders. Once Hiccup is safe, Toothless orders the other dragons to fight back.
Grimmel drugs Toothless and rides him instead of the Light Fury. He plans on flying Toothless somewhere else so he can kill him and finish what he has started. Grimmel believes that Hiccup can’t stop him without his dragon.
Hiccup has no choice but to ask Soundbreak for help. She allows him to ride her, wanting to save Toothless just as much as he does.
They catch up to them and knock Grimmel off of Toothless, who then grabs onto Hiccup before he falls. In a last ditch effort, Grimmel shoots Toothless with a tranquilizer dart.
As Toothless plummets towards the ocean, Hiccup tells Soundbreak to save him. He lets go of her so she can catch Toothless.
Soundbreak comes back for Hiccup after saving Toothless. After catching him, she gives Hiccup the same gummy smile that Toothless showed her earlier.
Epilogue
The dragons are able to come and go between New Berk and the Hidden World as they please. Toothless lives on an island close to New Berk with his mate, but he visits Hiccup often.
Together, Hiccup and Toothless continue to fight for a world where humans and dragons can live in peace and the dragons won’t have to stay in hiding.
Additional Notes
Snotlout hitting on Valka is completely cut out.
Toothless is the alpha of the dragons on Berk, not the king of all dragons.
There is no alpha of the Hidden World. Individual packs have their own individual alpha.
While the movie pushes the idea of forcing the dragons into the Hidden World to keep them safe from humans, my AU is the opposite. The goal is to fight for a world where dragons won’t have to stay hidden and instead can live peacefully on the surface without the fear of being hunted. The reason the Berkians decide to stay on New Berk even after Grimmel is defeated is so they can protect the Hidden World and also so the dragons can protect them. It’s a mutual relationship.
Grimmel’s Deathgrippers aren’t killed. After the final battle the Deathgrippers are more neutral, not knowing what to do without their master. Hiccup and the others remove the Deathgrippers’ harnesses. Once the venom wears off and the dragons are back to normal, they fly away, finally free of Grimmel’s control.
