to all the writers on here who do reader insert fics, if you are giving the reader a physical description, it is NOT a reader insert fic, it’s an oc. do not tag your fics with reader inserts if you give them a skin tone, eye color, hair color, etc. IT’S AN OC NOT A READER INSERT. doing things like this makes the reader feel uncomfortable while moving forward in your work. there are plenty of, and easy, ways you can avoid these mistakes. let your reader feel included by not giving them any physical description. this is really easy to do and i’ve been doing it ever since i started writing reader insert fics. the beauty of reader inserts are based on the fact that anyone can feel included and comfortable while reading. if you feel like adding physical features, completely change the piece and write it with an original character. i cannot stress this enough.
