SEASON TWO PARALLELS Stede and Ed talking to the crew | to add to the parallel of both of these scenes happening during the opening episodes of the seasons, they are even nearly shot the same, with Stede and Ed standing while the crew form half of a circle around them

can we talk about how after everything ed's done, after becoming the worst of blackbeard, after shooting izzy, after terrorizing the crew, after destroying the ship, after goading the crew into killing him, ed envisions stede coming to him with a trident, leading with the trident - with a weapon, not so dissimilar from the spear ed uses on his flag, spearing a heart

but stede doesn't use it.

even in ed's visions, even in the darkest moment of ed's life, he envisions stede coming to him with a smile. he envisions stede happy to see him.

he hears stede waiting for him, and there's part of him even then that knows stede loves him.

HOLY SHIT ☠

they used betta fish as reference for merman stede's tail in ed's dream and i made the terrible decision of looking up the symbolism of this fish now i don't know what to do with what i discovered (i'll probably kms or something like that)

izzy's line to ed where he says 'you know me better than anyone has ever known me and i daresay the same is true for me about you' was devastating to me actually because imagine hearing that as ed

ed stopped trying to be friends with izzy long ago but still as recently as s1 was showing him things that he found interesting and was still being met with indifference. izzy betrayed him and the entire crew by selling them out to the navy. izzy had nothing but contempt for ed when he was sad after stede left him at the dock. izzy made it very clear that he's only interested in ed when he's performing the blackbeard persona, goading ed deliberately until he snapped back into it then proving that this was entirely his intention

so imagine being ed and having to hear izzy declare that he thinks he's the one who knows you best in the world when he's the reason you're living a life you despise and you spend all of your time desperately missing a man who you fell in love with instantly, who responded positively to everything you'd ever been made to feel weird for before, who listened to your biggest secrets and didn't bat an eyelid, who was the only person you ever felt truly comfortable and safe around, who is still literally your reason to live despite the fact that he left you behind

WHEN WILL IT BE THEIR TURN???
