just a reminder that namor isn’t hispanic or mexican or latino! he’s solely indigenous so please when writing him do not have him speaking spanish unless it’s necessary or have him using spanish nicknames (which tends to be the case with spanish speaking characters as far as i’ve seen in fan fiction). he wouldn’t default to speaking in spanish, it’s not his first language nor is it his primary one. it’s yucatec maya! there are plenty of loving and endearing nicknames you can pull out of this wonderful language. please do not erase that representation simply because you find it easier or more convenient or simply out of ignorance. <<3

So like, I'm seeing such posts like "Namor this, Namor that but I was looking at [x person]. The straights are so annoying," (hi, I'm bi. We exist and also find Tenoch to be hot).

While I normally would be on board with this kind of sentiment and I get it, (cause again, hi, I'm bi), I would just like to remind yall that José Tenoch Huerta Mejía is a 41-year-old Mexican actor of Indigenous descent. Indigenous inclusion in both Hollywood and Latin television/ cinema is rare to come by, as is seeing them getting their flowers.

Darker-skinned Mexicans have a notoriously harder time getting on screen because of such concepts like Latinidad & Latin America's constant reach towards Spain (and by extension, whiteness).

i hope you guys know defending disabled people's right to exist in public also involves defending disabled people's right to exist in public in ways that others might perceive as annoying, unpleasant, uncomfortable, and inconvenient at times. a blatant example is the "slow walker" thing. someone with tourette's syndrome who has issues with verbally ticcing is likely going to have trouble staying quiet in a public space where they're expected to be. autistic children (and some adults) getting triggered into meltdowns due to an overstimulating environment. people with hearing problems having their phone on speaker while on a phone call. a wheelchair user taking up part of the road/sidewalk/aisle. people with autism, adhd, hearing problems, or other things that affect volume control having loud conversations. someone audibly talking to themselves, which can be attributed to many things. motor tics. dyskinesia. ataxia. pseudobalbar effect. the list goes on. some of thus may even be potentially triggering for your own issues if you're someone who's also mentally and/or physically disabled, but if you're well aware of how you can't help your response to it, you should be equally aware of how others can't help themselves either. people who aren't able to be disabled quietly and conveniently don't deserve to be punished or met with anger (or turned into a spectacle) for not deciding to shut themselves away.

asexual activism is PART of sex positivity. education about asexuality is part of sex education. speaking openly about sex, defying repressive sexual norms, and encouraging people to be comfortable with and enjoy their "unconventional" sexual lives all needs to include the messaging that not wanting sex is fine and that saying "no" every time is not only acceptable but good if that's what you really want. asexuality is not the opponent of sex positivity, it's another arm of it.

louis really drained lestat of the poisoned blood and claimed he bled him like a pig. he claimed he and claudia mutually couldn’t burn his body and then wept over his corpse as claudia wrote with lestat’s blood. he claimed they wrapped him in a rug and disposed of him like trash but there is a rug directly next to the coffin as the garbage men take it away. louis says “love” like it’s something he’s never felt towards lestat when daniel calls him out, but he followed lestats dying words, put him in their coffin that latches from the inside and sent him a place filled with enough sustenance to survive, just incase. something to be said about andor giving us two three-episode arcs to begin with and then just. not letting the ninth episode be a cathartic prison break. “ah, sorry, were you expecting something different to happen? no, you are going to keep sitting with the horror. and also these additional horrors.”

like that’s craft, there. they trained us to a rhythm so they could stutter-step it, drawing out the experience, a small mimicry of the interminable intolerable conditions of imprisonment & subjugation depicted in these episodes.

The “we’re cheaper than droids and easier to replace” line from Andor episode 9 has me by the throat because like. That’s. Bro that’s the clone wars.

Episode 1×09 is a really clear demonstration of Cassian’s character growth this season. Prior to the show, (as explained in 1x03) Cassian stole an Imperial starpath unit, an evidently expensive piece of equipment he was planning on selling to Luthen on a rainy day. When Luthen asks him how he got his hands on it, Cassian says,

“You just walk in like you belong […] They’re so proud of themselves, they don’t even care. They’re so fat and satisfied, they can’t imagine it. That someone like me would ever get inside their house, walk their floors, spit in their food, take their gear”

Cassian’s always understood the arrogance of the Empire, and how to weaponize it into a sense of invisibility, and he comfortably wields this for his own personal gain. Crucially, it’s his success, that indicates the power of the Empire, and causes his disillusionment with the idea of the Rebel Alliance. He believed that the Empire, so powerful that it is blind without consequence to somebody walking right in, stealing from them, and walking right back out, is untouchable in any real capacity.

During the Aldehani arc, Cassian engages with the Aldehani rebels in a sort of hopeless apathetic manner. He’s only participating in the heist because Luthen’s paying him. In a very real sense, he feels he doesn’t have much alternative. He wasn’t very liquid because Luthen never paid him for the Imperial starpath unit and he needed to get away from Ferrix until the imperials looking for him turned their attention elsewhere. When Nemik tries to rationalize the usefulness of rebel mercenaries with his idealistic viewpoint around the Rebellion in 1x06, Cassian says the following:

“The Empire doesn’t play by the rules. They don’t care enough to learn. They don’t have to. You mean nothing to them.”

It’s clear from the context of the scene, and Cassian’s reluctance to begin working with the Aldehani rebels, that he believes the Aldehani heist might be doable, but will not lead to any real success for the Rebellion. This is because he still believes the Rebellion will never be able to strike a decisive blow due to their insignificance compared to the power of the Empire.

But during the Narkina-5 arc, Cassian has truly lost everything. He was arrested, far from Ferrix and his family, under an assumed name and sentenced to 6 years on Narkina-5. But he becomes a much less passive character in spite of his circumstances. He understands that the insignificance of the Rebellion, or of himself, or of his fellow prisoners, is an advantage that can be used for more than just survival. That arrogance of a prison structure, or of an Imperial base, or of the Empire itself, can be a protective cover for more than just talking with your fellow inmates or stealing an Imperial starpath unit. So when Cassian says to Kino

“You think they’re listening? You think they care enough to make an effort? I know this. They don’t need to care […] Why bother listening to us? We are nothing to them.”

It’s no longer a hopeless speech about the pointlessness of action, it’s a call to arms that demonstrate his newfound belief in the possibility of something larger than himself

Honestly, the last episode of Andor was so fucking great, and it’s all in the eyes.

Bix’s eyes as the torture helmet is slipped into her head and the horror slowly crashes over her. I love that they didn’t include the sound and just let us as the viewers imagine it as we looked into her eyes.

Derdra’s eyes as Syril grabs her outside of her work, a place where she’s supposed to be powerful and in control of everything, and he’s not letting her go.

Kino Loy’s eyes as the news comes filtering through about what happened on Level Two, how he’s scared shitless, but knows that he has to keep it together for the sake of his guys, because if he loses it, then his whole team will lose it too, and then they’ll all get fried. How he insists that as long as they keep playing the game correctly, everything will be fine and they’ll all get out eventually.

Kino’s eyes as Ulaf dies and the medic tells him exactly what happened on Level Two, when he realizes that the game has been rigged all along and that he’s never going to get out and see his family again. How he silently makes the choice to throw his lot in with Cassian and damn the consequences.

It’s just such fucking good acting, and it’s SUCH A FUCKING GOOD SHOW.

i object to labeling cassian andor as a poor little meowmeow (he's not nearly immoral nor pathetic enough to constitute as such) but he is definitely like. a bit of a wet cat of a man. he's always climbing over fences and crawling through windows and shit, standing in people's living rooms looking slightly damp. will occasionally look up at you with the big glistening eyes of a creature who knows the inside of a cardboard box, etc
