A First Encounter (Giants!BBS)

Hey, guys! Wowie, it’s been awhile since I posted some writing on here. I want to clarify that this is in no way replacing the Space AU. That is still being worked on a lot (We literally talk about it every day. Every. Day.) but this is something of my own that I came up with and wanted to share it with you all. I have some ideas for how to continue this AU, so if you guys want me to continue with this story, feel free to let me know. I hope you guys will enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it! :D

A First Encounter (Giants!BBS AU)

Craig tightened his grip on his backpack as he trudged across the path through the woods. “Those assholes…” he muttered angrily. The slightly torn up notebook in his arms was still drying from being thrown in the mud, so Craig had decided to take a shortcut to both avoid seeing the ones responsible for destroying his book, and it was slightly quicker to get home. Which was good because all Craig was worried about was bringing the book home before it got damaged even more. He looked down and sighed as he saw the bright, orange leather cover, now coated with mud and dirt. It baffled Craig that people at his school could be so cruel to the point where they had attempted to destroy one of his most valued possessions.

It’s time for another BBS Space AU post! Tyler’s known for being the ship’s registered “tank”. He’s the strongest, the tallest, and the loudest of everyone else on board. No matter how tough and bitter he may seem, Tyler would never hesitate to jump in front of a bullet for any of his teammates. A stone-cold exterior guarding the ever-growing heart beneath his shell. Craig is the ship’s medical expert. While he may not have his degree and still quite young for his age, he knows more about physical health than SARK himself does. His knowledge of fighting or hacking is quite small, but his boundless amount of optimism and skilled hands give him a firm home within Valkyrie. There are only two more crew members after this, then the ship shall be complete. Expect more soon, and I hope you enjoy! :)

Yet another BBS Space AU post! The last two members of the Valkyrie now have faces, Jonathan and Evan! Evan was the last person to join the crew, and is definitely the most enthusiastic about space. Fairly new to anything that isn’t directly related to his homeworld, Evan is more than excited to see what the universe has to offer. His textbook-knowledge of space only exemplifies his puppy-like love for all things space. Jonathan is definitely what you could call a “man of mystery”. His past is a secret to all who ask, and he never leaves his safe haven in the ship’s Archives. His knowledge of space and computers knows no bounds, while who he used to be is a conundrum to many. His walls are built higher than the height of space itself, and it’s going to take more than just a cheery personality and a nerdy affection for astronomy to open him up. BBS Space AU overload!! Here is the completed crew of the Millennium Valkyrie. They are standing in order of technical ranks, from highest to lowest. (Lui, Daithi, Tyler, Marcel, Evan, Brian, Scotty, Craig, Arlan, Brock, and Jonathan). On board, everyone is treated the same, aside from Lui and Daithi, but technically there is a ranking system. M00 is in there too, because the crew wouldn’t be the same without the little guy I’m so glad that you all love the AU, as little as we have shared with you. It means so much to me that you guys like the AU, and the support for M-00 in particular has brought me to tears on more than few occasions. Thank you all for your continued love and support for this. More will be coming soon. 

And be sure to give @brocksnuckel and @bananabuslover love for this au too. They are beautiful people and help with this AU just as much as I do, if anything more than I do. Thank you all again, and enjoy! <3

Time for another BBS Space AU character! On the ship, a special A.I. was programmed into the ship’s computer during construction. SARK, or “System of Aeronautics, Robotics, and Knowledge”, is a nearly-flawless piece of artificial intelligence, but is also the definition of a computerized dickbag. He’s snarky, cold-as ice, and above all, has no boundaries. However, he’s still likable… If you like douchey A.I.’s, that is.

I reread Evans meeting with Panda and can i ask, how tall is Panda? He sounds more intimidating height wise than Tyler o.o

Well, he’s not quite 100% panda so the scale is not exact to how large a real panda is on Earth. When he’s standing on all fours, he’s about 4’. When he’s standing on his hind legs, well….. 6′10″ to 7′10″ feet? Here he is next to Brian for scale:

Another part of the BBS Space AU @brocksnuckel, @bananabuslover, and I have been working hard at! Enter the heads of the Millennium “Banana”, Lui and Nogla! Lui is the captain of the Valkyrie, while Daithi sides as his First Mate, as well as being his best friend from childhood. They are brothers-from-different-mothers, and travel the galaxy in hopes of finding adventure and discovering new lands with their one-of-a-kind crew. I hope you all like them as much as we do!  Expect a lot more of this AU soon! <3

I definitely loved when Panda showed up. I mean, it's Panda, but also an actuall panda, and in a space vest, talk about cute!

Anthony is probably one of my favourite characters just because of the fact that he’s the only character who doesn’t have hands. You have to reconsider how the way he’ll do things or react to things could be different how the other guys would react. An example being if Tyler or Lui want to be intimidating, they’d just pull back their jacket to reveal their holster. If Anthony wants to look intimidating, he just stands up. It requires me to think about specific details in scenes and dialogue that I would overlook if everyone in the scene was human. Because of that, you get a much more in-depth and personal description of scenes and characterisation that I think makes it feel more authentic, so I’m SUPER glad that you like his introduction! :)

Also, panda “smiles” are actually the most adorable things you will ever see. Look at them, oh bless :’)

Can we still draw fanart for your BBS Space au even though it's discontinued? (I had a bunch of ideas including a redraw of a picture I had drawn for the au, but I could never get to them because of some issues in personal life)

That’s totally fine! I’m gonna try to do a satirical comic depicting what happens in the two parts that were never finished, just so you guys can see the full development, but feel free to make your own arcs and scenarios for the guys!

Planets i learned about via youtube while procrastinating my english essay

Planet 55 Cancri e is basically a giant diamond. like the planet is a diamond. and it would be worth $26.9 nonillion

Planet Gliese 436 b is an ice planet that is constantly on fire do to its close proximity to its parent star. the ice doesn’t melt bc the planet’s gravity is so strong it physically prevents the ice from melting

Planet HD 189733b rains sideways glass…. constantly

Planet J1407-B has planetary rings that are 200x the size of saturn. if saturn’s ring were as big as J1407-B’s we’d be able to see them with our naked eye from earth AND they would dominate our sky and look larger than a full moon

Planet Wasp-12b rotates so close to its parent star that its slowly being consumed by the it

Planet Gliese 581c is one of the candidates for a planet that can support life however it orbits a tiny dwarf star and is tidally locked so one side is constantly subject to immense sunlight while the other is constantly in darkness. there’s a small area of the planet however, that is just the right temp to support life. u just can’t step out of said area. the skies are red and the plants would have be a black color instead of a green bc they would use infrared light for photosynthesis. (a message was actually sent to the planet in 2008 in hopes that there’s life on the planet but the message wont reach the planet until 2029).

Planet GJ 1214b is a water planet nicknamed “water world” is has no land at all and the water is so deep it goes down miles all the way to the planet’s core.

Planet Wasp-17b is the largest planet discovered thus far. its so large its existence contradicts our understanding of how planets are formed. and it has a retrograde orbit, so it orbits in the opposite direction of its parent star.

Planet HD 188753 has 3 suns you should have triple shadows and there would be almost daily eclipses. and no matter which direction u face on the planet u would always see a sunset

Planet HD106906b is the loneliest planet discovered thus far. its known as “super jupiter” bc its 11x bigger than jupiter. it orbits its parent star at a distance of 60 billion miles (which is v strange) hence why its the loneliest planet.

Planet Tres 2b is the darkest planet known. it reflects less than 1% of light (it reflects less light than coal and black acrylic paint). the tiny part of the planet that does reflect light is red making the planet glow a dim red.

Dude imagine sark sliding in jons work space like that? Jon is like"!!!! (◎_◎;)..Why!?" sark is like " Why the fuck not?～(^з^)-" sorry it sounded funnier in my head :\

That sounds absolutely amazing. I mean, plot wise, it makes no sense at all because Sark doesn’t typically have a body, but the mental image absolutely fantastic.

Jon is sitting there working uber focused and quiet, when suddenly Sark slides in really loudly and unexpectedly, and he’s so focused that he doesn’t expect it and shrieks. The bab just gets so startled that he falls back in his chair and when Sark looks over the edge of his desk, Jon is on his back on the floor glaring up at him like “WHY?! ;~;” and Sark just shrugs and slinks away asdghkkl ❤️

The first glimpse of the new AU @brocksnuckel, @bananabuslover, and I have been working hard at! In some ways, it’s sort of a Star Wars AU, but with less Death Stars, Jedi, Force, and more of the world itself and badass space adventures! In this story, Brock is the “Millennium Banana”s mechanic, while Brian is a cyborg fighter (Technically speaking). The little cute fellow between them is M-004615151, or MOO for short. He’s Brock’s little robot buddy and helper around the ship. Together, they’re a lovely trio, and I hope you all like them as much as Gillian, Caora, and I do!  Expect a lot more of this AU in the upcoming year! :)

Could Planets Like Those Imagined in Star Wars Be Real??

Look at what we’ve found so far. 

Is your favorite Star Wars planet a desert world or an ice planet or a jungle moon?

It’s possible that your favorite planet exists right here in our galaxy. Astronomers have found over 3,400 planets around other stars, called “exoplanets.”

Some of these alien worlds could be very similar to arid Tatooine, watery Scarif and even frozen Hoth, according to NASA scientists.

Find out if your planet exists in a galaxy far, far away or all around you.

Planets With Two Suns

Were you going to the Tosche station to pick up some power converters? Hold on a minute and learn about Kepler-16b, 200 light-years from Earth. It’s the first honest-to-goodness planet ever found where you could watch two suns set like Luke. George Lucas himself even blessed its nickname ‘Tatooine.’ It’s not a perfect comparison: Kepler-16b is a cold gas giant roughly the size of Saturn. But don’t worry, kid.

The best part is that Tatooine aka Kepler-16b was just the first. It has family. A LOT of family. Half the stars in our galaxy are pairs, rather than single stars like our sun. If every star has at least one planet, that’s billions of worlds with two suns. Billions! Maybe waiting for life to be found on them.

Desert Worlds

If you’re like Finn and want to know why everyone wants to go back to Jakku desert planets, get this: Star Wars may be reflecting the real universe. Desert worlds are not only a very real possibility, but we think they are probably very common. They can be hot, like the fictional Tatooine and Jakku, or cold, like Jedha in “Rogue One” or our real planet Mars.

Perhaps it’s not so weird that both Luke and Rey grew up on planets that look suspiciously like each other. If you’re scouring the universe for a place to settle, you have a good chance of finding a desert planet.

Ice Planets

There is a Hoth in our galaxy! Though not the same Hoth from “The Empire Strikes Back” (no invading Imperials, for one). The icy super-Earth reminded scientists so much of the frozen Rebel base they nicknamed it “Hoth.” The planet’s real name is OGLE 2005-BLG-390L.

Our galaxy’s Hoth is too cold to support life as we know it. But life may evolve under the ice of a different world, or a moon in our solar system.

We’re currently designing a mission to look for life under the crust of Jupiter’s icy moon Europa. We’re pretty sure ity won’t look like tauntauns, if it exists.

Forest worlds

Both the forest moon of Endor and Takodana, the home of Han Solo’s favorite cantina in “Force Awakens,” are green like our home planet. But astrobiologists think that plant life on other worlds could be red, black, or even rainbow-colored!

In August 2016, astronomers from the European Southern Observatory announced the discovery of Proxima Centauri b, a planet only four light-years away from Earth, which orbits a tiny red star.

The light from a red star, also known as an M dwarf, is dim and mostly in the infrared spectrum (as opposed to the visible spectrum we see with our sun). And that could mean plants with wildly different colors than what we’re used to seeing on Earth. Or, animals that see in the near-infrared.

And Beyond

The next few years will see the launch of a new generation of spacecraft to search for planets around other stars. TESS and the James Webb Telescope will go into space in 2018, and WFIRST in the mid-2020s. That’s one step closer to finding life.

You don’t need to visit a galaxy far, far away to find wondrous worlds. Just visit this one … there’s plenty to see.

I couldn’t draw Evan and Del’s first meeting, as it is a bit of a spoiler for the first story in the AU, but I did hint at how it went in another art request (SARK and Jon talking :P) So for the sake of spoilers, I’m not going to do any “H2OVanoss” (bleh) drawings, since it’s spoilers for the first book. 

This is pretty much how Lui and Evan’s first meeting went. (I chose them because their meeting isn’t as spoilery as the others are :P)
