Content Warning: Ranboo talking about his facial dysmorphia and anxiety, and how it's been affecting him.
I’m so sad to hear that his facial dysmorphia has been getting worse. It really sucks. I really hope that he doesn’t feel pressured to face reveal, nor keep his word for the YouTube subgoal, because face revealing is his own thing. He gets to choose whether he is ready and comfortable to do it, or not.
Mental illnesses suck and sadly they’re not easy to “treat”, and sometimes they stick with you for a lifetime. But his willingness to reach out for professional help is good. I hope that his openness on the topic, and the way he sort of keeps us updated on his journey, brings about more awareness on mental illnesses, and that hopefully people affected by them feel “inspired” to seek out for help themselves.
Here are some resources to educate yourself on facial and body dysmorphia, and social anxiety disorder:
- Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)
- Facial Dysmorphia (It falls under BDD)
- Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)
- Relationship between Social Anxiety Disorder and Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Remember that these are not diagnostic tools and that you should seek immediate help if you feel like your wellbeing is threatened. Please talk to a professional if you need help. I know it seems counterintuitive sometimes, especially for people who suffer from social anxiety disorder, but I promise that in the end it will be worth it. You just have to push through the first steps. I believe in you!
My messages and “ask” ’s are always open if you need to vent or talk! If you only want me to read, and not hold an actual conversation, just say so and I will just read through your message :)
You are not alone.

Though the jokes that "since gay pride month is over, july is now gay wrath month" are funny and all, it's important to remember that July is ACTUALLY Disability Pride Month and ya'll should really be focused on boosting disabled voices and issues this month! For instance, the fact that marriage equality doesn't actually truly exist in the United States for disabled people, or the fact that disabled people are forced to live in poverty or lose their disability benefits, or the fact that 1 in 5 people with chronic pain end up sufferring from alcoholism or other addictions, or how accessibility is still a daily battle for all of us, or how there are active hate groups on places like reddit who try to "call out" those they see as "faking" their disabilities.
This July, boost disabled voices. Talk about the issues that our community faces. Call out ableism.

I don’t know if this post has been made yet but I just want to warn everybody that if someone stops you in a parking lot and asks you if you’re interested in some perfume and hands you a paper to smell, PLEASE DON’T SMELL IT.
i repeat, DON’T SMELL IT.
Apparently the sample papers are being laced with a drug to knock you out. Please signal boost this. It can save someone’s life!
For any of ya’ll who are still well in the IT fandom as of 2020, please reblog this. I need reassurance that not everyone is gone.
I used to have a coworker who was 3-4 years my junior. I asked them if they were still taught internet safety at school, to which they confirmed, but it was the same über-serious "Don't talk to strangers" online bullshit that I was fed when I was a kid.
This doesn't work anymore. It hasn't worked in a long fucking time.
Public education is so fucking far behind when it comes to internet safety and etiquette. The lessons have to change. Not just for kids and teenagers, but for parents as well.
We can't remove the idea of talking with strangers, even adult strangers, entirely anymore, because inter-generational friendships are super important (looking at you, MCYT), but we do have to establish things like: how to recognise red flags when having conversations with anyone (not just adults, people your own age can be just as conniving and vicious), how to access tag and content blockers when you start seeing things that make you uncomfortable, how to understand site rules and guidelines, etc.
The issue is that the internet itself is full of great advice about how to filter content on different social media sites, it's just that none of you chucklefucks wants to use it. What are you waiting for? For someone to do it for you? Is that it? That's not blissful ignorance, that's just laziness and entitlement.
You don't do your own research. You follow each other in bloodthirsty packs. You constantly misuse words that have hurtful and horrific meanings and consequences. This is not okay.
Open up Wikipedia for once in your life, Jesus fucking Christ...
