Young love | d.m. x reader

Summary: From Narcissa's point of view, she sees how Draco falls in love with you.

Word count: ~1.5k

A/N: It’s been months since I wrote a full-length fic. So, this is not my best. Hopefully it’s still okay hehe.

The first time Narcissa noticed you were on the platform 9 ¾. It was time for another school year. She and Lucius were there to drop Draco off to the train to Hogwarts.

“Do you have everything with you?” Narcissa asks her son, mentally counting all of his things once more. When she doesn’t get a response back she looks at her son who’s facing somewhere else.

“Draco?” She tries again to get his attention, but he’s fully focused somewhere else. The platform is busy with people and he could be focusing on anything. But as his mother she knows exactly what has caught his attention.

A bit further down on the platform, you’re standing there, laughing and smiling with your family who also are here to drop you off. This is the first time Narcissa sees you. She doesn't know who you are, but she has a feeling that she will later get to know that through her son.

“Draco, pay attention to your mother!” Lucius has a firm voice, making Draco turn back his attention to his family. “Sorry, mother! What were you saying?”

Narcissa gives her son a smile. “I just hope that you have everything with you and that you don’t forget to surround yourself with things and people that make you happy.” She says before hugging him, the last part was indirect about you.

Draco nods and starts getting up on the train. Narcissa turns around to look at you once more and sees that you’re doing the same. Before you get on the train, you flash a big smile to Draco. Narcissa can’t help but smile as she notices how her son blush at your warm smile. This is maybe the beginning of a young love, she thinks.

“Here love, another letter from our son.” Lucius says and handles Narcissa the letter that just arrived with the owl.

The front of the envelope is written with a familiar handwriting addressed to her. There is no doubt that it’s Draco who sent the letter. During the semester, Narcissa regularly sends letters and Draco’s favourite cookies. And her son always replies as well with a letter.

“Why do I never get a letter from him?” Lucius jokingly says as he turns to another page of his book. Narcissa chuckles, “If you also start sending cookies, maybe he will mention you in the letter to me at least.” Lucius sighs, but can’t hold back a smile as he still has his eyes on the book.

‘Dear mother, thank you so much for your latest cookie delivery. They are, as usual , delicious.’

Narcissa starts to read Draco’s letter. He always makes sure to thank her for the cookies.

‘The semester is going well. Nothing special has happened since the last time I wrote the letter. But I have found a new assignment partner. Her name is y/n and she is brilliant. I really enjoy working with her as we come along very well, and I really do enjoy her company. She also has a very beautiful smile.

Y/n, maybe that’s the name of the girl at platform 9 ¾, Narcissa can’t help to think about. It doesn’t take many more letters for Narcissa to figure that out. Soon she is sure that it’s the same girl as Draco starts to mention you more and more in his letter to his mother. It makes Narcissa even more excited to receive the letter from her son, as she sees that it is a sign of the beginning of a young love.

The next time Narcissa sees her son is during Christmas break. Draco is back at the Malfoy Manor to celebrate Christmas. There is something about Draco that radiates something light and happy. He’s in a very good mood.

“Mother, I can accompany you to the shops if you want.” Draco suggests. Something his mother is not too familiar to hear about. Draco never liked to join when Narcissa went to shops, as according to Draco it takes too long before they get home.

“Of course dear. What’s the occasion?” She knows very well that there must be a reason for her son to want to join.

“Does it have to be a reason?” Narcissa gives Draco a questioning look, which just ensures Draco to realise that his mother knows him too well. “I want to buy a Christmas present.” He quietly says.

“And for whom is this present for?”

Draco flusters, “For y/n.”

Narcissa smiles. It’s for the girl that he hasn’t been able to stop talking about. Ever since he got home for this break, he has mentioned your name a numerous times. So many times that it feels like Narcissa and Lucius already know you.

Draco and Narcissa walk around the shops to find the perfect present for you. “I want it to be special.” Draco sighs as he walks out from another store.

“Y/n must be special, the way you put so much effort in finding something special for her.”

“She is. She makes my heart feel something.”

Narcissa smiles at the thought of you making Draco feel something special in his heart. This is indeed how it feels because of young love.

The next time Narcissa sees you is when she and Lucius visit Dumbledore at Hogwarts. You and Draco are sitting on a bench. The way you two are laughing together at something that one of you just said, Narcissa can’t help but stop and just look at the two of you.

That’s until Draco turns his head towards where Narcissa and Lucius are standing. Draco’s eyes widen as he’s in shock seeing his parents on the school ground.

Swiftly he makes his way towards them. “Father! Mother! What are you doing at Hogwarts?”

“Draco.” Lucius greets his son. “Meeting with Dumbledore.”

“And you must be y/n.” Narcissa says as you have caught up with Draco now and are standing beside him.

“Yes. Pleasure to meet you Mr and Mrs Malfoy.”

Narcissa notices the necklace around your neck. The same necklace she and Draco went to look for as a Christmas present for you. It makes Narcissa smile that you’re wearing it.

She’s also happy that she finally has had a chance to meet you and talk to you. Just then, she knew why her son liked you so much.

Another day when Narcissa had just been visiting Hogwarts, she went to Hogsmeade before heading home.

That’s when you accidentally bump into her. “I’m so sorry, Mrs Malfoy!”

“Y/n, so happy to see you here.” Narcissa shines up into a smile right away, happy to see you.

“Likewise!” You give a warm smile back.

“You should visit the Malfoy Manor someday. I’m so happy that Draco finally has someone who he likes so much. That boy hasn’t stopped talking about you for even a second this school year.” Narcissa chuckles but stops talking as soon as she sees the expression on your face.

“Draco likes me?”

Narcissa by reflex slaps her hand over her mouth. She really thought that Draco had already confessed to you. Something he wrote in his letter weeks ago that he was going to do.

“I’m sorry, Mrs Malfoy, but I really have to go.” You stutter your words and start to run back to Hogwarts. Narcissa really hopes that she hadn’t done anything bad.

That evening when she came home she felt a headache over how she could help her son fix this mess she created.

“What’s wrong, love?” Lucius sits down beside her on the sofa.

“I made a mistake. I ran into y/n today and thought Draco had already confessed liking her, but he hadn’t. So, I accidentally said too much.” Narcissa sigh.

“That may be why your son wrote you a letter today.” Lucius says and takes out a white envelope addressed to Narcissa. “Maybe it’s not so bad.” Lucius tries to assure Narcissa.

‘Mother!

Apparently you told y/n that I like her before I even had the chance to confess. After your meeting with her at Hogsmeade she looked for me. I can assure you that this was not the way I had planned to confess to her. But I want to thank you, because of you she knew this earlier than when I would have found the courage to tell her. So now I’m wondering, can she stay with us during Easter break?

“I guess the letter was good news?” Lucius asks Narcissa since he sees how she’s smiling at the letter.

“Very good.” Narcissa replies.

When the Easter break comes, you’re staying at the Malfoy Manor. Narcissa is in her bedroom to open the window. That’s when she sees you and Draco outside in the garden.

“C’mon Draco.” You say and drag Draco up from the chair. By holding his hands you start to dance with him.

Narcissa sees how her son shines up into a smile. Not even the sun on this beautiful spring weather is shining more than the smile on Draco’s face.

This might be young love, but this is something that was going to last. Narcissa can’t help just standing there and smiling.

“Thank you, y/n.” She whispers for herself.
