Kageyama is singing a background note to retune one of his strings during a song (he trusts his perfect pitch) and hoping no one notices. Hinata is gobsmacked, definitely notices, and is definitely helping by stopping his drums all together in the middle of the song to let those background vocals shine through.. yeah >:3

Finished that band au wip! There’s a lot of lore with this au…. Not gonna make a fic for it but I’m gonna slowly tell what @jetjaw and I have been planning…

For now here’s the basics:

They form the band in high school, but don’t really really take off till their young adults (though they have local fans in school)

Tadashi is the frontman on guitar and lead vocals, as well as the main lyricist for the band. He has always dreamed of being in a band, though he doesn’t have the raw natural talent some of the others do. He’s the one who brings everyone together at school. Him and Tsuki are still childhood friends, he’s school buddies with Yachi, he meets Kageyama in music class, and he rooms with Hinata in their school’s dorms.

Tsuki only picks up the guitar to have something in common with the only friend he tolerates, but ends up being very good at it. He’s the lead guitar, and he secretly loves it, though he never quite shakes the aloof persona. They know he loves them though, or he never would have let them talk him into that tongue piercing…

Yachi was taught piano as a kid, and it quickly became another outlet for her mother’s overly high expectations. She secretly gets into alternative music, synth, and fun keyboards to have a small sense of rebellion. As well as being the keyboard player, she becomes the producer, brand manager, and all around mom of the band. Everyone at their stuffy ass school thinks she’s suuuuuper emo for her hair and eyeliner. (None of them have ever seen an actual emo)

Kageyama is a youth symphony player, taught the bass by his grandfather. When his grandfather dies, he picks up the electric bass to breathe new life into the grief-tainted hobby. He composes a lot of their music, and is generally ridiculously skilled. Of course he dabbles in piano like the dramatic genius he is.

Hinata is the drummer, and undeniable heart of the group. When they meet at school, he’s the only one familiar with the local music scene, and opens up his rich-ass sheltered-ass friends to a freer creative approach. Though he didn’t play any instruments at all at first, Kageyama assumed he was a drummer from how many overly complex rhythms he’d tap on his desk in their shared class, and quickly resolved to get Hinata properly playing. Though he starts out a bit of the weak link, his passion and commanding presence completely transform their sound.

Cue the next several years of melodrama, exaggerated teenage culture, and pining wayyyy too far into their twenties.

Headcannons from my ongoing “cannon compliant” kagehina verse with @jetjaw part 2:

- Kageyama is allergic to red food dye. Hinata fucking loves citric acid and should NOT be given red 40. They give their red sour patch gummies to Tanaka. (Tanaka also shouldn’t be given red 40 but he likes it)

- Whenever they get in a vehicle the other has been in they get stuck awkwardly adjusting the car seat like vrrrrrrrrrrrrr… Kageyama can’t even get in until it’s lowered enough

- they are super super excited when they go on their honeymoon. They have a lovely time and put in so much effort and it’s soooooo romantic! Don’t worry about how they are terrible at traveling and literally lost each other for a couple days it’s fine! It’s FINE guys!

- Hinata never labels his sexuality. Dating always comes second to volleyball, and the only person he’s ever been serious about is Kageyama. It’s not that he doesn’t like men in general- he took advantage of no one knowing him in Brazil to figure that little mystery out. But also, those crushes and lustings for girls in high school don’t feel like a comphet situation, and he isn’t sure Bisexual is the right term for him because it kinda feels like he used to like girls but now just likes guys? It’s whatever. He’s here, he’s queer, he fills opponents with fear. He’ll probably never have an all gay friend group or be particularly in the culture, but he enjoys a good pride parade and likes to crash any he can while abroad.

- they don’t get together in high school, and the way they realize their feelings for each other is pretty separated so they don’t talk about it for a long time. When Hinata comes back to Japan for awhile it comes to a head at their match against each other. (you know exactly what I’m talking about we’ve all seen the tongue-out panels) They wind up talking about it and hooking up in a moment of relief/reunion/understanding of their relationship FINALLY. It isn’t particularly hot or kinky or wild, they just get excited to be in the same room after years apart, and years holding back/being unaware before that.

- Hinata is a stone top. He’s got a napoleon complex, no one is getting in there.

- Kageyama adores Hinata’s relationship with Natsu, because he missed out on that closeness with Miwa for a lot of his childhood due to their age gap and the loss of their grandfather. He is secretly super family oriented - just not his family

- Kageyama has always known he was gay. Not in a particularly conscious “I like boys way,” more in a puberty hit a little late *wink wink* “I’m supposed to like boobs????” way

- Hinata blinks like a goldfish. Bros big, bulbous, voluptuous, beautiful, puppy dog, brown peepers nearly never see the inside of his eyelids. They are nightmarishly moisturized and they hardly move. Freak eyes.

I FINALLY got a new chapter of my Hinata Spiderman au up!!!!! This thing is my baby my precious my life and soul…. But like it’s whatever…. You don’t even have to read it it’s nothing….

Anyway:

Hinata Shoyo gets bit by a radioactive spider. Now he must balance a double life while family, school, work, tutoring, and the mystery of his father’s past explode around him. If he has a super slow burn romance with a guy from school along the way that’s nobody’s business. (Everything is a vessel for kagehina)

It was weird. Kageyama was weird. He was always so damn stingy with Shouyou, especially where food was concerned; wouldn't even let him take a bite out of his meat bun, or share one of the octopus sausages from his bento. So, Shouyou was more than a little justified to feel suspicious when Kageyama started suddenly showering him with gifts.  It didn't stop at the food, no. Though, thankfully, it also didn't move on to more protection gear.  Instead, the next thing Kageyama gave him was a rock.  “It reminded me of you,” he said one day, dropping something into Shouyou's already waiting palm. “Add to the collection in your head.”

Working with children and wondering if Hinata Shoyo ever got slapped by Natsu

Some Haikyuu (kagehina) headcannons that me and @jetjaw came up with together

- Hinata has REALLY bad object permanence. Like terrible. When him and Kageyama are living together, Kageyama takes advantage of it to get introvert cool down time. He’s always waiting for Hinata to turn around then bolting and Hinata will just forget who he was talking to.

- (this was according to a very questionable series of taro readings but it’s hilarious anyway) In a moment of weakness (obvs pre relationship) Kageyama hooked up with Atsumu. He regrets it because that is embarrassing as hell. Atsumu is also very awkward about it because wtf that’s his professional competition. When Hinata joins the Jackals and gets close to Atsumu (now him and Kageyama /are/ dating) he does not know about this. Chaos ensues as he tries to get his bestie/coworker and boyfriend/arch nemesis to get along but for some reason they’re really uncomfortable hanging out together outside of volleyball????

- Hinata fucking loves citric acid and potassium. The potassium thing is because he is always dehydrated. He doesn’t understand why juice with a lot of potassium tastes so good. It’s like crack for him. He gets withdrawals. He’s fuckin rabid if he doesn’t get his drink. One time the team gave him a Gatorade (electrolytes) and he was like “OH MY GOD ITS LIKE MY JUICE????”

- Kageyama is lactose intolerant. He does not like this.

- Miwa is naturally very introverted and sarcastic but took on the mantle of being the extroverted Kageyama TM. Her and Hinata get along so well it tortures Tobio.

- Hinata memorizes Kageyama’s particularities and saves them up for later. During a very intense argument Kageyama shouts that he “isn’t that particular!” Hinata proceeds to do everything how he does the next day and it drives him crazy. Socks? Matching. Coat? Fully zipped. Kageyama? Scared.

- In a similar vein, Hinata uses it to be spiteful in other ways when they’re fighting. Once Kageyama went to cook breakfast. Upon seeing all of the food in the fridge with their labels facing perfectly backwards, he proceeded to crash out so bad that Hinata never messed with his organization systems again.

- Kageyama comes out publicly after a public scandal over Ushijima and Tendo’s relationship. He isn’t even trying to come out he’s just very blunt about it and his PR can’t control him. An interviewer will be like “how do you feel about your teammate being gay?” And he’s like “that’s homophobic” 😐

- Hinata never comes out publicly. He doesn’t have to. Videos surface of him getting interviewed by influencers in Brazil (fresh out of a gay bar) and it’s made pretty clear. “So what are you doing this evening?” “Uhhh idk, but I just made out with a very nice guy!” :D

- they don’t have wedding bands, it’s too inconvenient for their sport and they’d just lose them.

- Kageyama only got away with the Atsumu hookup because it came out the same night he found out about Hinata hooking up with Oikawa

- Kageyama will bring Hinata to events when he’s still more famous and be mistaken as Hinata’s plus one. That short ass ginger has a GRIP on his waist and his voice PROJECTING.
