MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR (1967)
This one is inspired by young Paul McCartney in the early-Beatles period. He was very mocking and spry but sometimes languid and very artistic. So bohemian wow.
now and then - kind of reeling over the aching sense of time and space incorporated in the song. the sound of john's voice stopped in time blended to the soft background timbre of paul's voice that now holds so much age in it. talking to each other across impossible distances. digital ghosts and haunted emotions.
Crochet vest icon 😍 Granny music? More like granny squares 🤤
I think Paul really spoke for all of us 😭
(The cropped versions are wallpaper friendly! 🥰)
"I’m not sure I do feel I belong to myself. There are two sides to me. (...) I’m very conscious of my duality in lots of ways, sort of like a split personality. I’m always conscious of that debate between the two selves. Like black/white, day/night, dull/bright." - Paul [Guardian, 2001]
"I'm trying for music that isn't too romantic, yet contains a romantic thing. I personally don't like things to be too cute - except babies. My music comes off best, I think, when there's hard and soft together." - Paul [1971]
"When you’re a kid you think things will be straightforward, but when you’re older and you’ve experienced more, you realise it’s an everlasting war between good and bad." - Paul in The Lyrics
The other me would rather be the glad one The other me would rather play the fool But I want to be the kind of me That doesn't let you down as a rule - The Other Me" [written in 1982]
Paul has an artistic side that isn't level-headed, and I like that. Most of his down-to-earthiness comes from living with a good family. He was taught good values. His inner talent is just there. He also has his mad side, but he saves it for home. His mind is amazing. Although his roots are earthy, he's up in the sky on other things. - Linda [1989]
“Paul is like a beautiful two-headed monster." - Donovan [Mojo interview, 2008]
"I mean I love the idea that there are two people in my head. Well, at least two." - Paul in The Lyrics

NOW AND THEN handwritten lyrics
Omg omg omggg i caann’t 😭
This song is the most Beatles song I’ve ever heard and it’s such a wonderful homage and testament to their Time defying genius, innovation and bond, from Then until Now 🥲
John’s timeless vocals :(
Ringo’s iconic “1, 2, 3, 4” :(
George’s “Something” and “My Sweet Lord” guitar solos :(
The “If I Fell” drumming :(
The “Across the Universe” and “The End” harmonies :(
The “Martha my Dear” piano :(
The “Walrus” and “She’s Leaving Home” orchestra swell and staccato string that reminds us that George Martin really was the indispensable fifth Beatle :(
The tambourine from the early songs :(
The psychedelic eastern inspired strings :(
Paul in the back, harmonizing with John, so recognizable on the Love You 🥲 (because that’s the simplest and purest representation on their relationship and legacy, and really that’s so much of what this song is about 😭)
So many different eras and musical pioneering moments, so much individual creativity and collaboration and love that makes the Beatles absolutely magical, captured in one song 🥲 how is this allowed 😭
i think ANOTHER thing that drives me up the wall insane is that john sounds so alone in the demo well because he was! now and then was him singing by himself in his apartment. but this sound wall technique fills up your whole body with the love that paul, ringo and george poured into it, there isnt a moment where he has to sing alone anymore, theyre all with him again
