Defiance: a daring and bold resistance
Your hair defies gravity
Climbing toward the sky
Yearning to meet the clouds
From whence you came
Your skin defies the rays of the sun
Absorbing its light
Warm golds
Deep blues
Rich browns
Containing stardust
Your smile defies the system
It was built to uphold a standard
That oppressed your soul
Stomping you into the core of the earth
And yet you find joy
In a dance
Or in a song
Your softness defies all belief
Fighting against the stereotypes
Of strength that withstands all abuse
Of being undeserving of love and tenderness
You defy all lies
There's beauty in your defiance
Never forget that

Seneca Village. Ever heard of it? Probably not, because now it’s known as Central Park. 200 some odd years ago, freed African American slaves FINALLY got land of their own. They built schools, churches, parks for children, and it was quite the thriving little community. Until it was bulldozed. Houses destroyed, community ripped to shreds, churches/schools demolished. To make a park. How I never learned about this ridiculous shit in school is beyond me.
Sometimes I feel like I'm Nick Carraway, trying to fit into a story that's not mine, neither about me nor mine to tell. I'm an omniscient observer watching the protagonists live their lives, undisturbed by my inconsequential presence.
"It's like they're the same cat!"
Idk why reading about them arguing made me wanna draw them together but :/

My eyes have been opened to the beauty of these ships
Ok, omg, this is amazing
I am asking once again for a link to a drive for the PDFs of the Warriors series, because my link is in the trash (quite literally, that’s what it says when I go to it). Or at least a place where I could download them? Either way, it’d be appreciated.
