i want to start routine and prayer and piousness to the gods. If i am able to, so this is not a promise or a vow, but more of a hope, i would like to become a priest of a god i have in mind

my first experiences with witchcraft and occultism were with roman augury and bird flight reading and it will be always a part of me and my identity, even beside witchcraft.

low effort witchy things ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁 .ᐟ

first thing in the morning—take three slow deep breaths (air/sky) more grounding than immediately checking a phone

notice your feet on the ground taking root when you stand up for the first time of the day, take a little stretch (earth/land)

wash or splash your face to get alll the way awake. then chug a big glass. (water/sea)

appreciate any trees, plants, dirt, or clouds you see

place both hands on your heart to feel your own heat and warmth. feel your heart beating. “i am alive” (fire)

wear or carry a rock, hagstone, crystal, talisman, or amulet

in times of stress or dissociation, rub your thumb in small circles on the back of your other hand to ground and soothe. (clockwise for attracting an intention, counterclockwise for banishing)

color magic with clothing

add cinnamon, lavender, or peppermint to coffee according to intention if you don’t want to drink tea

stirring tea/coffee according to intention

sometimes i pick a little affirmation for the day— “may i forgive myself” “the universe is within me/the wild is within me”

visualization—inhale a bright light and let it fill your lungs, exhaling clouds of negativity

or create a shield with breathing. with each breath, imagine a bubble forming around your body, then your aura, growing with strength.

cleansing shower at the end of the day (intending it to cleanse my aura makes me more motivated to take one, idkw)

if taking a bath, add a dash of moon water

sniff lavender essential oil before bed

look at the moon, talk to it. remind yourself that it’s the same one your ancestors knew.

potions vs charged waters

updated version

i most often see the word “potion” used as a blanket term for any liquid mixture that you enchant with magic, but it's a tiny bit deeper than that.

potions

a potion is broadly defined as a mixture of liquids with magical, healing, or poisonous properties [source] and is meant to be ingested - essentially, a potion is a liquid spell you're supposed to drink in order to feel the effects of said spell. in fact, the word "potion" is derived from the middle english pocioun, from anglo-french poisun, pocioun (drink, potion,) from Latin potion-, potio, from potare (to drink) [source].

you can essentially enchant any beverage to be a potion, and create your own potions using edible ingredients. wanna make a strawberry banana smoothie with the intent of having a super good day? bam, potion.

but, please keep in mind that even if something is edible, that doesn't mean it's safe. do your research and don't ingest harmful substances!

charged water

charged waters are infused with the energy of an external source - the moon, your favorite herbs and crystals, and elemental energy, for example. charged waters can be edible (potions) or inedible, which entirely depends on your intent. no really, i mean it. if you want to use this water strictly for spellwork, anointing items, adding to spell jars, etc., then you can add whatever the heck you want to it - crystals, oils, herbs, you name it.

but if you want to drink it or turn it into a potion of some sort, please for the love of the cosmos do NOT add a bunch of oils and trinkets and accessories to your DRINKING water.

essential oils are not for human consumption!!! and - you shouldn't be drinking something you just put a bunch of rocks in!!!!

tips

regardless of what you plan to do with your magically enchanted water, leaving it out at room temperature is a potential breeding ground for bacteria so plan to refrigerate it or store it in a cool, dark place and dispose of it within a couple of weeks.

final notes

anything you plan on drinking: use edible ingredients only, and store accordingly. do not add random nonsense to water you plan on drinking.

as always, do your own research and use your best judgement to discern what is safe and what is not.

🪶 . . . sorceress, & minor goddess of magic.

Circe (or Kirke) is a goddess of magic and a skilled sorceress who is mentioned in Homer's Odyssey. daughter of Helios and Perseis, a sea nymph, she resides on the island of Aeaea where she encounters Odysseus.

Circe meets Odysseus when his travelling companions enter her palace after reaching Aeaea. however, before joining them, Odysseus meets Hermes, who instructs him to take a magic herb before he speaks with Circe, who will attempt to enchant him too.

having resisted her enchantment, Circe becomes enamoured with Odysseus, and swears and oath to do no more mischief to him and his men in exchange for him laying with her. she turns his travelling companions from swine back into men, and they bring their ship ashore and spend a year and a day feasting with Circe and the nymphs of her palace and living in comfort.

following this, though, Odysseus is reminded by his men they should go on - and so, instructing him in the art of necromancy, or what must be done to reach the underworld, Circe tells him he must travel to the realm of Hades to meet the prophet Tiresias. she sets his men off when the wind is favourable, with instructions of how to safely pass the island of the Sirens.

🪶 . . . powerful enchantress.

Circe is often described as a fearsome goddess, and her island is said to be inhabited by lions and wolves who were once men. being a daughter of Helios, she is beautiful and radiant, with particularly lovely hair, but is said to be a very powerful sorceress. in the Odyssey, Homer gives her the epithet Polypharmakos (or knowing many drugs or charms), because of her detailed knowledge of herbs and enchantments. in addition to her potions and tinctures, Circe also wielded a magic wand with which she could enchant or transform.

🪶 . . . worship & modern times.

Circe was the subject of some cult worship (or hero-worship) in ancient Greece, but similar to some other mythological figures has been reimagined in modern times in a more positive light to how she was understood in wider society due to a view of her as a powerful, free woman. in her role as a goddess of magic, she may also be embedded in some people's practice of witchcraft in the modern era.

I don't personally work with Circe, though! she is a goddess I am very interested in, but I have never interacted with her myself, so if any of you have experiences communicating with or working with her I'd love to hear about them!
