your hc about luffy eventually being allowed to sleep wherever he wants on the red force reminded me of something that happened in my childhood that i think would really fit
so imagine it's the middle of the night, and shanks is peacefully sleeping in his bed, but he gets woken up by a feeling of something pressing down on his foot. it's uncomfortable and he's half asleep, so he does what anyone else would, and kicks at it, ready to fall back asleep. the next thing he knows he's fully woken up by a thump on the floor and a familiar loud whining. so shanks sits up, looks to the end of the bed, and finds luffy on the floor, clutching his head and complaining something shanks is too tired to try and decipher. but he's awake enough to realize that he's just kicked luffy off the side of the bed, so he does the natural thing and starts cackling, only laughing harder when luffy's complaints get even more offended
ougahg PLEASE that's adorable and i can see that happening so clearly
KITTY!!!!
Max emptying his champagne bottle on Lewis specifically. That to me translates into βwelcome back on the podium, where you belong.β
And you will not convince me otherwise.

Max Verstappen boycotting the FIA press conference featuring banter from Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton dragging the FIA ft the drivers union behaving like a union for once
π!
it never fails to amaze me how interlinked lewis and nicoβs pasts are. being teammates for years and best friends since youβve first seen the karting trackβthatβs a bond you canβt just lose immediately.
their old karting prinicpal had said that they were too connected. 15 years, and theyβve become enemies? he did not even entertain the idea. they can never be enemies.
nico begged his father to make a team in karting so they can be teammates. lewis injured himself and had a broken arm, so nico did his setup for him. their first and last press conferences were just the two of them. lewis was there when nico got his first podium, and nico was there when lewis got his first podium, first win, first titleβalways there to support him by the sidelines. sometimes even next to him on that podium, when the stars aligned.
and then nico moved to mercedes. when nico won his first race, lewis was incredibly proud. even when lewis beat him in the title fights when they finally were teammates like they dreamed of, nico still congratulated him. never failed to. even when he retired, he still cheers lewis on and celebrates his wdc winsβbut just not as his friend and family anymore like he used to be. just as another face in the crowd, another reporter.
they knew each other so well that nico knew how to play mind games on him, knew where it hurt. lewis knew him so well that he understood why nico retired, despite how many refused to understand.
even now, you cannot mention their careers without talking about the otherβtheir rivalry going down into history as the one that set off the silver war. try to erase it, but it is only nicoβs name that is engraved in between lewisβ. tucked in between and breaking what would have been a consecutive streak.
their names are forever engraved next to each other. they share the most number of front row starts in formula 1 history β a staggering amount of 44 times. how poetic that it is and will forever will be the same number that lewis drives his car with. even in this, lewis has the upper hand.
this red string tying us together will choke us both before we learn to cut it off harshly. Weβll try to untangle each other from it and see how even seperated, the marks it leaves behind an absence too heavy to ignore. always there, always missing something.
all we can do is marvel at the imprint it leaves behind, yearning for what was before. back when we did not know how to hurt each other. back when the fabric of the thread was nothing but the woven joy and secrets we held for each other, before we learned to craft it, sharpen itβinto a weapon of our own design.
to be loved is to be known, and you knew meβdidnβt you? but each man kills the one he loves, and i fear that we were never the exception.
someone probably said this before but another one of the very many reasons iβll never be normal about brocedes is that nico still supports lewis. like after all this. without a thought he still goes all in for him.
in saudi '22 after he already lost the wdc but nico still had faith about him winning the last race. this year in china when mercedes was still bad he still defended him and every other time he is commentating he wants him to do good. sometimes he is criticizing or offering advice almost but he is never mean about it.
his relationship with lewis going bad, turning into a pretty toxic rivalry (think about the strictly separate garages bc they were worried the other one would sabotage them) was one of the reasons he quit the sport (both werenβt saints we know that so no one sided blame here).
so it would be so easy to be so petty on the literal international sports broadcast (we know he has no problem being a little sassy), making snide remarks whenever he can, being overall much more of a critic or even having a little schadenfreude when the mercedes stopped being the dominant car. but he doesnβt do any of that. he still supports him. positive comments, defending him to other commentators and all
-just their whole dynamic is so wild. take any little details away & it would be so much less appealing. the wink after the silverstone interview, the yes, and teammate, the being unable to say each others name for years. all that is just insane
but after all itβs still watching the stars in greece. the war of the silver arrows. everything but a lover, in my heart heβs still my best friend & nico still suppprts lewis
