I’ve briefly read about Navratri, and it sounds like so much fun! It was quite shocking to me, I remember, because I’m Latinx and I thought we knew how to party. But you guys really outdo everyone by partying for nine days straight. I’d love to write about how the Marauders & Co will react and what they would do when the Potters invite them to celebrate with them.

Finally, I just googled what Khichdi was and oh my goodness…it looks so good! I want to try it now, let’s see if I can manage to find a place nearby or maybe even try to make it myself (although unlikely considering I’d burn the dorms down).

do you ever think about how you have such double standards for fic writers vs book authors and tv/movie writers?

like you don’t like when fic writers do xyz, but when you read it in a young adult novel you have no problem, or you see it on the screen and you love it.

that’s just so funny to me. the hypocrisy is so funny to me.

you’ll bitch about an age gap fic (even though both characters are concenting adults) but you adore call me by your name which has a 17 year old fucking a 24 year old (and i’m not bashing cmbyn i love that movie i’m just using it as an example).

you’ll bitch about adult fic authors writing minors having sex with each other but you’ll watch gossip girl where teenagers are fucking like crazy on screen.

you do realize that all of that was written by adults, right? most of the media you consume is created by adults. and when we write about teenagers fucking it’s not because we want to fuck teenagers. that’s gross. we’re writing about experiences, and we’re writing coming-of-age stories because we’ve already fucking been through that shit and we have life experiences that you don’t. if we didn’t the content you would have would fucking suck. it would suck.

most of your favorite fic writers are adults. your favorite novels and tv shows and movies were all written by adults. and if you enjoy that media anywhere except for when it’s in fics why is that? is it because fan fiction authors are more accessible to you? is it because you can find us on discord and tumblr and tell us all about your favorite and least favorite parts of what we’ve written? and you can’t do that with the authors of your favorite novels and the writers of your favorite tv shows and movies?

i just think your hypocrisy is bullshit, and maybe you should think more about what the fuck you say to people who write things for free. no one is forcing you to read anything. if you don’t like it don’t fucking read it and leave the people who do write it alone.

whats your opinion on percy weasley? i'd love to see him get fleshed out more in your rewrite!

You know, originally, I didn’t care much for him. But the other day someone asked for my opinions on the Weasleys (check it out here), and a discussion on Percy surged from there.

Now, I think that because Percy was a kid born when things were most intense in the war, there’s got to be a lot of repressed trauma. Like, Molly and Arthur already had Bill and Charlie, so that’s three kids they needed to protect from everything. Three kids who didn’t understand what was happening and why Mom and Dad are always so paranoid and stressed and exhausted. I talk about some of this here.

I think Molly taught her kids to be quiet at all times, especially when hiding, and to be obedient because otherwise bad things can happen. And I think Percy was the most obedient and quiet of the three, and he was often praised for it. But then, when the war ended, he got stuck in the war mindset.

While the world was slowly moving on and mending itself, Percy continued being the perfectly quiet and obedient child who followed the rules down to a T. His older brothers didn’t have time to dwell on the past, they were too busy helping Molly around the house, and the younger ones never had to experience what they did, not really, anyway.

So he gets made fun of when he fusses over the rules, or when he brags about his accomplishments (which I think he does because now he’s not being praised as much as he used to, and is now desperately competing with his siblings for that kind of attention), or when he says that he wants to work in the Ministry.

SO, I think I’m going to have Percy have that big fight with his parents, but I want to also find a way to make them understand that he wasn’t entirely wrong—his execution could’ve been better—but he was also hurting and he was very determined. He wanted to do good, he believed in the Ministry, whom he watched clean the streets after the war.

EDIT: I also want Percy to end up with Oliver Wood because I’ve been shipping them for so long and they’d just be an awesome couple. PERCIVER FOR LIFE!!

Harry Potter Rewrite.

I’m just going to reinvent the Harry Potter world as a whole, because with each new detail I add to my fic, i stray further away from canon. Like, there’s just so many plot holes with simple solutions, and I just refuse to write stories in a world where they would shit right on the spot and then carry on like nothing. I refuse.

Now, is there any plot hole about the worldbuilding that bugs you? Tell me about it, maybe try to explain a solution you have as well?

Thoughts on Regulus

I am honestly conflicted on how I want to portray him in the story. Like, personally, I love him and the idea that maybe he created a public front where he pretended to hate Sirius and his friends and such, but when he couldn’t sleep he’d send his older brother an owl requesting to sneak around. I’m an older sibling, and I really could not imagine being separated from my brother like that. I would refuse, as much as I’d like to strangle him sometimes, I would also die for him.

But then, I also have some ideas on how it would be if I went the usual route of making Regulus automatically cut him off when Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor. BUT, also, what part of this rewrite takes the usual routes?

ANYWAY. I might use a combination of both. Because I think Regulus was a complex character who was, like his brother, abused.

Being abused by your parents is a strange thing, sometimes, because it can either develop profound hatred towards your abusers, or create some sort of attachment and need to please the very people that hurt you. And I really want to explore that with Sirius and Regulus and how each of them dealt with their issue at home.

On a lighter note, I read once a headcanon that said that Pandora (Luna Lovegood’s mom) was maybe friends with Regulus, and I loved that idea so much. Mostly, I think of them quietly rebelling against their families. And I wholeheartedly believe that Pandora helped Regulus with the locket after she was inevitably kicked out of her family for marrying Xenophilius.

Headcannon: When Severus and Lily were kids, they listened to all sorts of muggle music. Mr. and Mrs. Evans had an impressive collection of records that Lily and Sev would spend hours upon hours listening though. Through the years of his friendship with Lily, Severus was gifted records and continued listening to muggle music through the ‘80s and even into the ‘90s.
